Shouldn't be paying anyone over £350k to anyone, happy to move on DDG & CR7 if those wages are true, just not worth it.. Club's been mis-managed for far too long.

Why not exactly? Manchester United can pay it. If paying 350k or higher means getting better player than why not pay it? I rather have it go to the players than to the Glazers for example.

More and more money in football so its normal that wages go higher and higher.

Yup if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. If it doesn't, it doesn't. I don't see Chelsea holding on for as long as United will/would.
I do, he’s not in a position they are desperately looking to strengthen, I think they’re gonna spend ridiculous amounts this summer as it’s Boehly’s first summer. So if FDJ suddenly becomes available at the end of the window they’ll still do it.

Maybe because he's fecking joining us.

I mean who the feck would pick chelsea over us. Especially now that they can't pay over the odds on wages etc.

They can barely keep their best players at the club.
Chelsea still have CL and London. History doesn't matter all that much anymore. You see people picking City and PSG all the time when they are nothing clubs

You don’t think it’s a fair point?

You have a potential star on your hands in Gallagher; if de Jong went to Chelsea, Gallagher’s whole game would be compromised.
I don’t see how. De Jong would be an upgrade on Jorgihno’s position.

Honestly, both Mount and Gallagher have trouble fitting into Tuchels system well as long as we have to go so defensive at the back. Fofana is the most important signing for Gallagher playing. With more youth and recovery speed, you don’t have to play so negative in the midfield two. You could play a midfield of FDJ and Gallagher. You could NOT play a midfield of Jorginho/Kante and Gallagher, especially as our defense stands. Jorgi can’t be relied on defensively, and Kante is too careless with the ball to be the link up.

It is the same problem we face in getting Kovacic on the field. Kova is GREAT. If I were other teams that’s who I would have been pressing Chelsea to sell. He deserves to be on the field.

I wouldn’t say history isn’t something that people don’t look at necessarily but it’s more to do with modern history. There’s some big clubs in the championship and low premier league. Players won’t go there over a team more likely to win something

It's time to throw the towel in on this shambolic farce of a transfer target. I'ts the worst of the worst in muppeteering history. :annoyed:

He obviously wants to stay at Barcelona... Has a contract, they can't force him out. If they let him rot his value just decreases which is the last thing they want.

The rest is just BS, Barcelona want to sell him or for him to accept less money hence the ridiculous threats...

There's no reason for him to agree to either.

I have to say, most of the links to Chelsea seem to be of pretty poor quality. That and newspapers quoting those links.

There do seem to be a lot of them though!

The FDJ won't suit Chelsea's tactics is a moot point, Tuchel has wanted him since PSG, so if Tuchel thinks he'll fit his tactics, he probably knows more than the rest of us.

Its obscene. It was never this high when SAF/Gill was in charge and we were run like a proper football club. Wealth comes to you at this club, rather than being here for the money. £250k contract given to Martial before he reached his potential is prime example of giving a young footballer too much too soon. He has reached his potential, has he heck, he doesn't need to with that fat contract.

I get CR7 brings a lot on the commercial side and DDG is our longest servant but its completely out of sync with really what we should pay..

As a cule, take it from me; If he stays and somehow, we manage to register all of the new signings, he will still be a starter in midfield next to Busquets and Pedri - he will face some competition from Kessie/Gavi but Frenkie would back himself. Any talk to him being perma benched/put in the stands is nonsense, see Dembele's situation last season, he was also booed by fans but he played a major role in our season in the end and it's water under the bridge.

Interestingly, despite the media reports, accusations of bullying, the drama etc etc, Laporta and Xavi have never officially said they want him to leave or that he has no place in the team. It's always been "We want him to stay, we like the player but he needs to take a wage cut" this is a lifeline given by the club to a player who clearly has no desire to leave. I think his agent is the one trying to get other clubs involved but any time it reaches the player, as seen with Chelsea, it's "thanks but no thanks".

I think he genuinely believes this will all blow over.. which is maddening. It's proper head in the sand shit. We haven't even heard rumors of him searching for a house, it's complete silence as if he'll rock up at training oblivious to what's happening.
 You must be new in the modern football society but that is something called PR (public relations). By saying that, it will make them the good guys while turning Frenkie the bad guy, which clearly they had successfully convince you to think that way.

Yes but one is a CL final, they beat City, Real, Porto and Atlético in knock outs and we basically got out of our group. I get head to heads can be deceptive but it’s also a bit unfair to compare two managers who are some of the longest serving in the PL with a manager going into his 2nd full season and whose owner basically had to jettison the club due to a war. If you’d have said win the PL I wouldn’t have taken the bet but finishing above either Pep or Klopp is too good a deal.

Winner gets to choose tagline for the loser.

Di Matteo beat Napoli, Barcelona and Bayern.

Sure that's a deal.

They've won league titles and CL titles in last ten years while we've done feck all. City, Liverpool, Chelsea are attractive destinations for players as your going to be there or there abouts come end of season. Unlike at Utd presently, where qualification for europe nevermind CL isnt guaranteed.
