So we chased him all this time only for him to go to Chelsea. I mean how is any competent way to do things? fecking farcical.

I've noticed you like bouncing in to threads a day later claiming something that been discussed and debunked by journos in that timespan.................just to hammered to club some more

Safe of being weirdo, you will give a pretty big importance to where your spouse wants to live.

That’s his spouse? Could swear it was girlfriend/fiancé?

Either way, a footballer’s career is a short one and it’s not like Spain is on the other side of the world. They can keep a house there and stuff. The club is pushing him out - staying because my girlfriend likes it here at that point wouldn’t work for me and that’s what I’m vocalising.

Why is a person prioritizing his private life and where he lives over where he chooses to work?

feck I swear people forget that these are in fact human beings and have lives outside of football. Someone's partner isn't an object ffs.

I mean they are dragging him out of the place, to the point fans were screaming expletives at him, and my post was made with that in mind. Certainly not the segue for your “someone’s partner isn’t an object” take though as that was not suggested.

All I’m saying is if my girl wants to stay after seeing how I’ve been treated then cool. I’m on a flight to good old land of Mancunia

Probably to be fair. Just pissed off with us as the whole transfer window is concerned.

First, watch the way you talk to people. And if you understood english you would have known that may decide to leave means that a decision has to be made which as said previously will include more than himself.

As for your question, in order to stay he doesn't to extend his contract, he can stay until 2026 with that same contract. It's his decision.

If you take offense so easily, then refrain from being condescending. I'm not here to teach you linguistics, or what assumptions are, so I'll leave it here. It's pointless for me to argue if you don't even understand what I'm saying to you.

Stop that bs, the reason I told you that is because it changes the tone of the conversation and now you are acting as a victim because you run your mouth for no reason.

Such a strange saga.

United have an agreement with the club and players agent.

Chelsea haven’t submitted a bid nor have they even spoken to the players agent. According to that the player isn’t jumping at the chance to join them either.

It looks like United are in the box seat IF he leaves.

Cheer up. It's only going to get worse so treat this like the good times they will comparatively be. Twelve months from now we'll be getting refusals from players because we can't give them Champions or Europa League

Even if both clubs paid the deferred wages, it seems to me the player has zero interest in either projects and is burying his head in the sand hoping this blows over. His agent is likely the driving force and as I posted before, there were actually reports he was in conflict with his agent about leaving Barca. Agent is very much for it likely feeding hope to ten Hag, he on the other hand, as has been the case all summer is very much adamant he's staying.

Something has to give, and quickly.

Yeah I agree. It’s fascinating really.

I guess the main question is how far De Jong will go to get his monies. It seems his agent has potentially agreed the deal with United if this issue is resolved however we still have no movement and De Jong seems happy enough to play a waiting game.

We can offer them Europa Conference League instead!

Surely they have to be able to register players by GW1. That means this has to happen in the next few days right?

Nope. Can be resolved all the way upto the window closing. Just means anyone not registered can’t play.

Be unlikely for FDJ to stay and not be registered though.

Been said about United all summer long he has no intention of moving. The difference is Chelsea didn’t spend all summer chasing him and instead spent 170m improving other areas whilst we waited like idiots.

Those buggers want united to pay the money they owe Frenkie innit? That's the fecking hold up I guess.

Thankfully Barca's first match is on Saturday and not on Sunday. Hopefully that means one less day of this farcical thread.

Don't even want De Jong, EVERY player over hyped on this forum over the last decade ends up being trash. Di Maria, Falcao, Depay, Sanchez, Schneiderlin...

So if you were a childhood Manchester United supporter, had a long term contract with a big pay there, play pretty much every week there, you love the city, your partner (from a young age I think with them) loves the city, just got engaged, but the club (higher ups only) are trying to push you out for financial reasons, that would cause you to leave the club you're at?

At the end of the day, if Frenkie chooses to stay, he's making a shit ton of money, will get his game time (or will believe he will get game time and win them over anyway), and him and his partner will be in the city they want to be in at the club he wants to be in. The president doesn't pick the team or interact with him, so he can easily just ignore it and stay where he is.

Isnt every overhyped player not gonna live up to the expectations? Hence being overhyped?

Not saying what's right or wrong - but I wouldn't want to stay at a place I'm not welcome. I would shit on the floor and feck off.

He will be hated by the un-registered players, the team and fans. Can’t see why on earth he would stay if they sort out the money owed.

It's also been said all summer that Barca have been the ones behind him possibly moving and he sort of has a mega pint contract with them over some deferred wages. That might be why it's been going on for this long....

It's certainly been so long since we've had any kind of unequivocal success in the transfer market. De Jong is unlikely to justify the level of fuss and hype that he has been afforded these last few months. However, you'd be forgiven for predicting that a move to United would inevitably end in tears while choosing Chelsea is surely the road to success.
