Isnt every overhyped player not gonna live up to the expectations? Hence being overhyped?

Logically speaking, the players he even listed all had red flags except for di Maria, who just didn't fit well into the PL and had so many problems getting settled. United was not his primary choice either. Schneiderlin wasn't as good as we thought, but he was a CM after not buying one for years since Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverley, Anderson, etc just were there.

He will be hated by the un-registered players, the team and fans. Can’t see why on earth he would stay if they sort out the money owed.
The team and other players won't hate him or think any different of him. You can't force a player out or to change their contract if they are under contract. That's it at the end of the day. All players will be on his side.

Fans everywhere are fickle and change their mind after 1 dribble, he'll be fine.

Staying at the city you want to live in at the club you want to be at. Maybe he's not ready to give up on the dream and that's all there is to it?

It's also been said all summer that Barca have been the ones behind him possibly moving and he sort of has a mega pint contract with them over some deferred wages. That might be why it's been going on for this long....

How many times has it been reported that he doesn’t want the move to United or Manchester? if he stays at Barce he gets the money owed, he doesn’t need to leave the club to get paid people seem to forget that.

He will be on 400k a week this season playing for his favourite club, why in the feck would he leave.

Been said about United all summer long he has no intention of moving. The difference is Chelsea didn’t spend all summer chasing him and instead spent 170m improving other areas whilst we waited like idiots.

United haven't been chasing him...more like they were the first to the party and have acted like proper guests going to the head table when needed, but being a respectful party guest while those at the head table have made this ordeal extremely bizarre and chaotic....while United have had the best seat just waiting and watching, all while doing what they have done in a fair manner.

It wouldn’t make sense as we are willing to spend more than the deferred wages on some average players.

I'd love to go into next season with a midfield of de jong and Rabiot with Fred as backup / an extra enforcement option to be fair

Interestingly not that many times. What has actually been said and is solely based on opinions is that he allegedly want CL football, United doesn't have it and there they shouldn't interest him. But that point has always been speculative. What has been said of the actual situation is that De Jong and his agent have talked to no one about their intentions outside of remaining in Barcelona.

Nah, if we spend what you say, we will sell a few more.

And we've been FAR more linked to Fofana and even Aubamayang than to De Jong. It's bollocks in my opinion.

Well, Fofana would be close to €100m, so would de Jong if Chelsea pays his deferred wages.

Yup, waiting on a club to pay a player isn't chasing them. Barca made their intentions clear, they want him gone, effectively transfer listing him. United bidded as they wanted him. It's upto the player and the club to sort the wage issues out and come to an exit agreement. If at the end of the day he doesn't want to go, then so be it, thats his choice. He has a contract, Barca have to honour it

Sometimes reports aren't true, we actually have no idea what he wants to do.
His wages are nice for him, but seem to be a bit of an issue for his club. Nobody is forgetting anything, it's been spoken about so many times in this thread, nobody believes he's been trying to push for a move, they believe Barca are trying to force him to either take a big paycut or leave.

Has Bale taught FdJ how to make paper airplanes and where to get a golf pro to help work on his game?

Totally...if there's a chance to go home with the the best party gift, stay as long as you want, especially when you're the only party guest that has gone through everything necessary to be given the gift. That's the goal. But if you don't end up with it, that's the risk you take and then you go to another party, which seems like United are doing in SMS, Rabiot, etc.

Whatever FdJ decides to do is his choice. But United chasing him and all this rhetoric feeds into this social media, hyper reactive spiral that way too many people get caught up in.

This is fascinating. He seems to be in genuine denial. Could Frenkie De Jong be the man to break Barcelona FC?

Playing? Central defence, on the bench or side lined by Barca. Favourite might be a little bit sour

An insane wage, stable place in the team, one of the biggest fanbases/clubs in the world who will adore him - who knows if Chelsea will buy someone new again next year, so he could just be second fiddle like at Barca again. It was no guarantee for Lukaku, Werner, etc that they came to chelsea for big amounts
I initially scoffed abit at this thinking no chance. But even professional footballers need to feel loved. I’m not actually sure he would at Chelsea ( he would be welcomed , fans would be excited but it feels like just another player coming in for big money)

just looking at this thread you can see this subsection of the Utd fan base viewed him as the white knight who would ride in to save there midfield. I think that may play on the players mind and he could choose you over us in that respect.
Chelsea fans are no different to United ones. Also he won't transform Uniteds midfield by himself. Kante seems pretty loved so I am sure if dude plays well they will support him the same. Look how United fans did Pogba. We also boo the team and players when things dont go well. I highly doubt he even pays attention to how United fans are as he would have to watch all our games.

Say the deferred salary issue is resolved, and he comes here - do you know what sort of wages United are prepared to offer Frenkie? I'm assuming he'll demand something in the ballpark of $500,000 a week

According to this, probably not very credible source;

Guessing £400,000 a week roughly, he'd want more than Sancho I'm guessing because of his age, and if this is actually reliable then you need to vomit in your mouth a little when you see Ronaldo, Martial and De Geas wages

If he joins United, he'd easily be the second highest paid player. Easily over 400k a week i'd say.

Crazy how much some of our players are getting paid.

You’ve been back and forward to Barcelona all summer and been left hanging on an accepted bid with the mindset it will still happen. If that’s not chasing idk what is

Define playing... he's apparently been told there's no place for him within the team, so unless he likes playing way out of his favourite position, or watching from the sidelines, then his best option is to leave.

Oh my sweet summer child...
Nope. Can be resolved all the way upto the window closing. Just means anyone not registered can’t play.

Be unlikely for FDJ to stay and not be registered though.

Yeah I know but I really don't think they'll go into GW1 without their fancy new toys. So I'm hoping they find some solution here.

By Saturday.

So we should know by late tonight/tomorrow

*fingers crossed*

If Barca don't end up selling him, I'm certain he'll end up playing. They played the same game with Dembele in January and the man played almost every game after that. Ultimately, he's a top player that Xavi really likes and there's no way he sits on the bench if he doesn't get a move.

How i'd love some clarity on this situation... but i just don't see it happening any time soon. This will rumble on all window i bet :(

Your comparison to Tuchel winning the CL against City in the final is that under Ole we shithoused a win against PSG…I honestly don’t know what to say. One got the biggest trophy out there, the other won an R16 game.
As for the league question, they’ve only been in the PL together with sides of similar strength and Tuchel has only been at Chelsea one full season so obviously the answer is no.

Is Di Matteo is better than Heynckes?

You are being intentionally obtuse if you are pretending that you don't see the point that inferior coaches occasionally have good records against better coaches.

Okay it's a bet. How much?

Did a bunch of scouring of our public balance sheets and think this is reasonably accurate.

As far as I'm aware, these numbers are the same pre-Europa drop, so it could be that they're all down 25% now.

"I dont want De Jong to join Chelsea if it meant Gallagher couldn't play" Classic Jody Morris.
You don’t think it’s a fair point?

You have a potential star on your hands in Gallagher; if de Jong went to Chelsea, Gallagher’s whole game would be compromised.
