The £17m seem to be the only thing more or less certain. On top of that he might be reluctant to join us, reluctant to leave Barca in general or in love with Laporta

2025 Newsflash Barca News

The former President of the now-defunct Barcelona Football Club, Joan Laporta has been reportedly admitted into a well-known Barcelona healthcare facility that treats patients with mental health issues including schizophrenia.
He was last seen in public running down the main street, wearing a half-half soccer jersey with Real Madrid colours at the front and a PSG colours back with the name Messi on it. He was eventually arrested for indecent exposure as he was not wearing shorts and was completely naked from the waist down.
 
Does anyone actually think this will still happen? Seems to have gone very quiet and we now seem to be moving onto other targets.

It really could be that they are the ones that have been strung along in all this and fed a bunch of fabricated stories by Barca as part of their games with FDJ. They themselves claim that they haven't yet had the assurances from the player that they want to get properly involved while we sit quietly in the background with a fee agreed and no signs of pulling out. That screams incredibly naive or incredibly confident to me and I know which I want to believe.

I still think we're the most likely destination, but there's also a good chance he stays at Barca (god knows why he'd want that after how they've acted).

I don't believe the Chelsea rumours at all. Their net spend is already approx £160m - Fofana will be another £80m apparanetly and they still need a number 9 before getting a midfielder. If they get De Jong thats somewhere in the region of £300m net spend. Barcalona also want their money up front, no spreading payments.

My best freind is a Chelsea season ticket holder, and he doesn't understand their interest in De Jong

Dead on. How could a €85m transfer of a player with deferred wages in an incredibly complex contract at a club that wants him gone so they can register their shiny new toys cause they’re saddled with a mountain of debt be complicated at all.

Anybody who listens to any related Barca news, and gets annoyed and emotion about it need their heads looked at.

Total walking contradiction they are day to day. I thought we were a soap opera last season, they are on another level and their fans seem to lap up whatever the club is putting out
 
This gets funnier everyday.

Barca are fooked and they know it, the knock on effect of this to all the other players they have on deferred wages would cripple them.

Or maybe they want to tie iy up in court for years so they don't have to pay them at all and eventually give them a nominal amount to settle it when their contracts are up.
 
I followed Managing Barca on twitter last week, the day before Orny's "Chelsea in talks" tweet... I unfollowed them yesterday and then Mitten said he's more confident.

I'm not saying it's all my doing, but i've just blocked them, so lets see what happens now.
 
I get it that FC Barcelona has this special "aura", a rich history and let's be honest, a more beautiful city than Manchester. It's a nice holiday resort for millions of people. HOWEVER, for outsiders they appear currently as a joke of a club. They're begging the players to take pay cuts, but at the same time buy players to the amount of roughly 150M € - who obviously will not play for peanuts. If I were a professional football player, I'd prefer having a secure employer, which Barcelona seems not be for the time being.
