Which is why they have gone nuclear with the legal threats.
But even a 15 year old can see the threats don’t matter. Everything legally is on the players side. Everyone knows these threats are garbage. Question is what’s their back up plan?

The look of a man who knows he’s in for a bollocking at home for offering up his fiancée to his fat boss.

You can't be sure about that.
There are more ramifications for Barca if they void this contract. They can’t and have no right to void their contracts in the first place without any reason and let alone force these players to sign another contract. If they void the contract the player will become a free agent. Not to mention the legal fees that will add up going up against 3 different players.

Anyone out there daft enough to think we get De Jong over the line and sign another midfielder.

The comments from Barca fans are insane.

They seem to be glad the players are getting punished, like they are the enemies in this one even after them doing the club a favour and taking the pay cut to help them out over covid.

Horrible club and fanbase

It's more like Barcelona Football Cult.

They don’t need the legal challenges to be effective or real for them to work. If they can lie and whip people into enough of a frenzy they will use this as leverage to try and shame people into submission. Ruining someones brand by portraying them as a greedy villain 24/7 is no small thing these days.

It almost like one of the posters on here said they would do EXACTLY this days ago … as Niemanns told me I was biased and crazy.

Where are the modern slavery comments from Fifa officials now?

This whole story is becoming ridiculous. I'm not going to feel bad for a millionaire - they wont suffer from this, but honestly, the way the Catalans are treating their players (Lenglet, Braithwate, Umtiti, De Jong) reminds me of how (football wise) 3rd world country shady chairmen deal with their team rosters.

We're one step from having fans paying him a visit. Someone needs to step in this is now beyond La Liga.

Technically this is the opposite of slavery isn’t? Slavery is keeping a worker against his will but here the worker wants to stay and work although the employer wants him out.

That part is true; what i find extremely alarming is how they're doing their best to invalidate their contractual obligations - hence doing whatever they wish with the players contract and his monies due.
Did they revoke his Camp Nou parking permit by this point?

Obviously this isnt modern slavery, but the same applied to Ronaldo when Real Madrid used their guy to come out and make us look like bellends. I'm somewhat exaggerating

- your location gave me a chuckle

Laporta is the accidental Daniel Levy on steroids. No club in the near future will ever want to buy a player from Barca ever again after this ordeal.

This transfer saga has to go down in history as the most complicated one EVER.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Netflix documentary about this saga.

"Club sues player for signing contact they created and offered him", that's a new one.

I just don't understand. I mean, I can relate to love playing for a club like Barca with its genetic link to Cruyffian offensive football and the enjoyable living conditions of its city and the Mediterranean culture/region as a whole.
But why would you subject yourself to the kind of shenanigans that the Laporte regime is currently pulling without concluding that its toxic environment and political games are just too much to accept.
Have some dignity and move away from the trainweck at this club.

Is your dignity worth £17million?

I think he's trying to screw them over, I don't blame him.

Also how can they even prosecute him for a contract they themselves offered him, its not like he ransomed them.
Doesn't even make sense.

Watch the cules come out and accuse the English media of colluding with Netflix to attack Barca, who have clearly done no wrong in their eyes. After all, who needs to honor the contracts that they offer.

This whole thing really is a shit show. I would love for United to go and sign another midfielder and reduce our offer to Barcelona. Make it clear we have reduced our interest. Then if the whole contract stuff actually gets resolved between them, we can always come back later.

I just want to see it all blow up in Barcelona's face after the way they have treated their players, while at the same time buying others they can't even register. Rubbish way to run a club, and I'm glad the public outside of spain appear to be fully against them.

short of blackmail, threatening methods like landlord using all kind of methods to chase tenant who doesn't want to move ? none.

What is clear is Barca have no intention of
paying him.

They won't cut off their nose to spite their face. Paying Frenkie £17million (but probably less) or losing out on a potential £70+million (firm) deal? And reduce their wage bill so that they can register the new players? It's business!

Surely Laporta isn't that dumb and spiteful?

this is what I'm asking earlier hundreds of pages before. It's not just stupid, it's very unlikely that Barca would be so frugal with 17m when they could receive 70m in return.

So much of Laporta's actions are about bravado -- flexing and to show that they have not had their legs chopped off financially.
But when the season kicks off he will have to tone it down and pump out a bit of realism to the Barca fans -- just to manage expectations and ensure his presidency is sustainable.

That's definitely the wrong way round

No no, they’d LOVE to honor the contract, nothing would make them happier, because for Barca, honor is the greatest reward and payment.

Unfortunately Laporte himself, pouring over old contacts and minutes of negotiations, as one who loves Mozart might read his memoirs, discovered, to his shock, CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR from FDJ so egregious that I literally cannot imagine what he’s talking about.

Sorry United, but it looks like FDJ will soon be in a jail cell.

   At least Frenkie can still be the connector between the jail world and the outside world with ETH texting him every day.

Big day today, eh?

Barca play their first La Liga game on Saturday. Every day between now and Friday is a big day, otherwise they're not starting Lewa, Raphina, Dembele or anyone else caught up in this mess. Something has to give, one way or another, and soon.
