I wonder if Ten Hag would be feeling betrayed by his former player if Frenkie goes back on his word and chooses to go to Chelsea before him
How do you figure? It's all bloody opinion. Theres absolutely no proof he wants London or UCL, it's basically using Chelseas location and the fact that it's believed all top players want CL.
I'd be astonished if he goes to Chelsea. Have we really been doing all this without assurances from him that he'd join?
When you accept assurances you make an ass out of u and rrancesI'd be astonished if he goes to Chelsea. Have we really been doing all this without assurances from him that he'd join?
I doubt that. If Chelsea interest has been known for a while then he'd have known that there was a possibility that they'd come in.It was a yes I’ll come to Manchester until Chelsea came in… probably.
Wow,what a disaster of a window. Ed is gone and we are still f**King clueless. Hope Fdj goes to Chelsea and somehow we finished above them in 4th. Frenkie be crying for champions league then. But at least London is lovely and sunny....
Not his fault we won't pay up. If Chelsea come in and pay what's needed why would he turn them down? It's definitely not united or bust is it
a few minutes off the M25 - I used to play there before Abramovich bought the whole place and chucked us out!Isn't it outside the Greater London?
There isn't any proof at all that he doesn't want to come here, theres no proof he does. Everything is media speculation, nothing more, nothing less.
The simple fact is, if ten Hag wants him, we'll see in the next couple of hours/days what he decides to do about all this. If he stands no chance, then we'll back away and move on.
We've already agreed a fee with them.
If anything, barca might be trying to drive a fake bidding war.
If it was that easy we'd have worked something out.
But we wont pay the deferred wages they owe. Woodward would have stepped in and resolved this by now. We've already agreed a fee with them.

You say that like it's not in the agent's interest to drum up a bidding war.Wouldn't work. We'd confirm Chelsea interest in 30 seconds by calling his agent.

I don't think it's an issue for this player. He's the number one target. It’s obvious we’re watching our money this summer. The 17m extra takes this deal to almost 100m, I don’t think we could afford it knowing we need a striker/right back.
It’s easy to sort out, I bet Barce pay him x amount of what’s owed and Chelsea cover the rest with a hefty signing in fee.
This would be the biggest transfer kick in the nuts of all time if he goes to Chelsea after all this. My head says that ETH wouldn't still be pursuing this if he didn't think he'd come and that Frenkie would have enough respect for him to let him know that so he doesn't waste his time... But the battered fan in me is really fecking nervous that he's going to Chelsea.

Wouldn't blame him for walking if that happens.Yeah and a monumental setback for Erik's rebuild
Antony is not the number one target. De Jong is clearly. So was Antony and that ain’t happening.
in a world with state owned oil clubs and dodgy agents, you want to play moral and fairLegally, I'm not sure we are allowed to do that. This has been talked about before in this thread.
Morally, that sets a terrible precedent and also doesn't look great for us.
Ban him.Bring Woodward back.
We're watching our money way too much at this point. Unless we have deals agreed already, clubs are only going to start raising their asking prices as the transfer window draws to a close and there's a higher chance we'll end up overpaying for mediocrity. It’s obvious we’re watching our money this summer. Said this before but I have no idea what people mean when they say ‘legally’ it can’t be done. There is nothing to stop a) united increasing the transfer fee offered to help Barcelona make a deal with Frenkie or b) United paying a sign-on bonus or inflated wage to the player to make up for the lost wagesLegally, I'm not sure we are allowed to do that. The issue isn't having the clubs pay the deferred wages, necessarily. Ben Jacobs reported that Barcelona is asking for a slightly lower total fee from Chelsea for de Jong (€80m total vs. the €85m total that we agreed to pay). Chelsea will only progress on this deal if they can get a guarantee that de Jong will join them, and given the previous reports about de Jong preferring a CL club, they stand a better chance at doing so than we do.But we wont pay the deferred wages they owe. Woodward would have stepped in and resolved this by now.

They are excited about the thought of FDJ coming and how he’d fit in. Some are apprehensive about having 7 midfielders for 2 positions. But it seems the very few there are are getting excited about it.
I guess they just don’t have anywhere near as many active members.
So athletic and now the times saying he prefers Chelsea. Anyone in our camp?
United can't really do much more. They've already come to an agreement with Barcelona, so it's not like offering more money to them will help. United's problem is that de Jong wants his money before he joins us. As I mentioned a while back, with Chelsea, though, it might be a different story as they're in the CL, so I wouldn't be surprised if de Jong forgoes some of the money to join them.I’ve given up on this transfer, but the Chelsea interest will likely be good for us. Club won’t want to be beaten to his signing by them so may do more to get it over the line. Obv won’t matter if he decides to stay or has his heart set on London but it will make us try to move the needle a bit more for sure.
