Beginning of the end muppets. Embarrassing waste of time and energy

How do you figure? It's all bloody opinion. Theres absolutely no proof he wants London or UCL, it's basically using Chelseas location and the fact that it's believed all top players want CL.

That took a while. The Times Sport article that's associated with this was published 5 hours ago at around the same time as Ornstein's Athletic article.

Probably used the info from Ornsteins article, unless Barca have done a nice little brief of their own... hmmm

Chelsea obviously know about the money owed to FdJ when coming into this transfer, they’ll just pay the cash and get this done by Monday.

They wouldn’t open talks with Barce if they wasn’t going to get this sorted out.

Expecting ‘United looking at alternatives to FDJ’ stories any minute now.

It's Delaney... have you read the article?

This alone tells you what you need to know. It's all about getting the buying club to pay his deferred wages. Barca are hurrying United up it seems. Theres nothing new in that article at all, it's another opinion piece with no sources at all. Just the Independent has been told. Hell, we could do that, just replace that with Redcafe has been told and you're done.

Honestly, I admire your optimism. But to be trying to claim this is all a ploy to make us pay up seems a bit naïve at this stage. Ornstein isn't some mouthpiece for Barcelona that will do their bidding. Laporte and Boehly have had meetings together, I'm pretty sure that they discussed how to resolve the FDJ situation. As journalists have said today, neither of those two teams want this to be a drawn out saga and want a quick resolution. Chelsea aren't going in blind, their owner has been sat having meals with Laporte. This would have been discussed extensively.

Apply the same logic to us agreeing a fee.

Miguel Delaney from the independent reporting that Chelsea are confident and are now likeliest club to sign De Jong.

Also said that United are weighing up whether to pull the plug and look for other targets.

NOT GOOD.
The rule is believe the opposite to what Miguel Delaney says. So it's encouraging news.

The same player we have amassed over 1k pages getting giddy over? I don't think we're in a position to start trying to mock any club that signs de Jong.

There’s always time to mock oppo clubs, that’s what football fans do. We’ve been shite for 10 years doesn’t mean I didn’t take great satisfaction in seeing Liverpool bottle the quadruple.

You’ve just answered your own question

We haven’t been able to get this sorted for whatever reason and it’s taken 3 months. The 17m fee owed to FDJ won’t be an issue for Chelsea they‘re spending upwards of 200m this summer this wont stop them.

They know about this fee and are coming in at this late stage they aren’t here to wait 3 months for it to get sorted.

I'd be astonished if he goes to Chelsea. Have we really been doing all this without assurances from him that he'd join?

By that logic, there is no proof he wants to come here. No proof we are interested. No proof we ever bid for him.
There isn't any proof at all that he doesn't want to come here, theres no proof he does. Everything is media speculation, nothing more, nothing less.

The simple fact is, if ten Hag wants him, we'll see in the next couple of hours/days what he decides to do about all this. If he stands no chance, then we'll back away and move on.

Beginning of the end muppets. Embarrassing waste of time and energy

I just read the article from Todd Roddy and it's mainly about Cucurella's move to Chelsea with a small snippet thrown in about de Jong wanting to join Chelsea due to champions league football.

Wow,what a disaster of a window. Ed is gone and we are still f**King clueless. Hope Fdj goes to Chelsea and somehow we finished above them in 4th. Frenkie be crying for champions league then. But at least London is lovely and sunny....

If it was that easy we'd have worked something out.

Yeah. They've reportedly been interested in FDJ for a while. Then Boehly has meetings and meals with Laporte. Then Chelsea step up interest in FDJ. No way they haven't hashed out how to make the deal happen.

Regarding the bolded...we've had stories that we're suddenly worried we're light in attack and need to spend there. Stories about Neves. Reports that we're now weighing up whether to continue to pursue FDJ. It's already happening. We'll quietly move on and try to get other deals done.

Really odd that Chelsea would be in for him at all. They're stocked in that position and they have promising players like Gilmour and Gallagher. Utterly pointless being a youth player at Chelsea.

They need a striker and they're about to spend £80million-ish on a midfielder. :wenger:

I still hold hope that this is just talks or enquiries, which happens all the time.

It really wouldn't surprise me if we went back and suddenly found a way to cover the wages and give a full fixed fee too.
As i say, if ten Hag wants him, he'll make another attempt to get him. If he thinks it's unlikely, then he'll just back off and we'll leave it as we have done twice already
