Tbf nothing has ever changed. English and Spanish journalists have been reporting on this all summer, things keep changing however; if there has been one constant its that he does not want to go to Manutd.

Personally, I feel that the agent has been stringing Manutd along to make Barca pay the wages or wait for a CL club to come in.
We have agreed a fee in June with Barca, the agent and De Jong are the issue. If he wanted to move, he would force Barca to sort the situation out.
Lets see if Chelsea get a agreed fee, how quickly it moves.
I suspect, the agent has used us as leverage to either a) get Barca to pay b) wait for a CL club.
London and CL. If Barcelona agree to sell to both clubs and we both meet the player's demand, it will end up in Frenkie choosing between:
A) stay and take a pay-cut (probably still an option but it might mean no Bernardo Silva for Barcelona)
B) Chelsea with London and CL football
C) Utd with its history, global power and Ten Hag
Now if it comes to light that he never wanted to come and ten Hag was chasing regardless, then that's going to seriously go against him and the board will not be happy at all.
Thats what gives me some confidence. Papers are using the CL and London as the reason why Chelsea are favourites. There's no proof either way as de Jong hasn't spoken to anyone publicly and I doubt private stuff will be leaked

If the agent was indeed the problem, then we'd have more reports about possible signing-on fees and us being made to pay high amounts in order to compensate for the deferred/loyalty payments. As of now, that hasn't been the case, even when other clubs have been mentioned.
Barcelona have been driving this whole transfer from the beginning, and Ali Dursun is only trying to ensure that de Jong gets what he wants. When tallying up all of the info together, de Jong either wants his deferred and/or loyalty payments from Barcelona before joining us or a CL club. We'll see what choice de Jong makes in the end, but from what I've been reading over the past few months, I think he'll choose the CL club in Chelsea the moment they get in touch with his camp.
