If this falls through, we have £70/80m spare. Do you think the club would spread that out across other targets? I hope they've got a plan in place for that scenario.

You would hope that there were other negotiations in the background for Plan B, that aren't as public as this deal.

To be honest if I was the owner I’d take out £10m for myself in such circumstances as compensation for our rabid online fan base.

1000 pages for a player who isn't fussed for joining us. Embarrassing. Such a dull transfer too.

personally, i think it would be best to bank it, rather than rush out and grab anyone available.

Spend the season getting our scouting department working properly so we can find a list of players who fit the profile we are looking for, not just a list of players Ten Hag is familiar with.

Now... print this thread and deliver it in Frenkie's postbox. That will bring him in

Well this was what I was wondering. Would we be doing that or is there a plan in place.

“Why has the sun just disappeared and the sky gone black?”

“Oh look: it’s a gigantic flock of flying pigs!”

“Shut up. Just go through the list of 99,999 right backs and pick AWB”

Then we can always put as a reserve CB, behind superstar Lindelof
How about replacing De Gea?

Frenkie would definitely give us better control of the ball than our present keeper.

PS: Don't let Barca know our cunning plan.

i mean our plan this summer seems to be bringing in players Ten Hag is very familiar with. I don't know another midfielder who has similarities to De Jong and fits that profile.

I would also suspect if there was a plan B more rumours would have come out about it before now considering the basic brick wall the De Jong deal has met.

For me the smart thing to do is if you can't buy what you really want save your cash and do your research and find something else that you really want in time.

this is both embarrassing for the club that it's taking so long and essential that we get him in.

well you know Pogba is going to leave on a free so his massive wages are off the board...FDJ cost barca 65m quid. i think if you double that amount, Barcelona would consider selling him. For United, you could only go that high IF you determine he is the only midfield target for the summer otherwise you have to look elsewhere and bring in two CM's for what it would cost to buy FDJ.
130 million pounds is an amount that would surely satisfy Barcelona.
Olmo (€55M), Adeyemi €45M and there would be money left to try Kounde , a player xavi loves.
Like I said the only way he leaves is if Xavi doesn't want him. Or if someone makes a crazy offer like 150 mil. He's played every single minute so far under xavi and xavi has said he's gonna shoulder even more responsibility. Doesn't look like a player on his way out. He's basically 6 months into a five year contract as well. Barca are gonna have a much harder time keeping Gavi who has a 50 mil release clause. Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay it.
Xavi literally said he was untouchable yesterday. I don't know why people keep going on about him here.

Some interesting early takes.

£130m+ valuations on FDJ. Untouchable. Never sell..

This is December. Times have definitely changed.

This is on!

You go to the Murtough thread and everyone is raving about how Murtough isn't to blame for this summer (or last) and was only a puppet in the job for the first 6 months, but now Woodward has gone he is sorting out all our issues has fired the head scouts and if we give him some time it will be all rosey.

I have to admit I'm more than a bit sceptical, but I guess we have to hope that's the case because otherwise we are likely up a certain brown alley for the long term and things are only likely to get worse.
