French Open 2012

Novak having to play no.5 and no.3 seed before the final is very harsh.

It's strange. I really think they should have a formalized system by which number 1 and numer 4 are in the same section and number 2 and 3 are in the other. Federer and Nadal should be playing the semi due to neither being the best player in the world right now.

I agree with that tbh.

It is common wisdom that 2nd seed plays 3rd and 1st, 4th. I was surprised that was not the case here frankly. And even after that I don't think 1st or 2nd seed should be playing 5th one in quarters.

It might be conventional wisdom, but that's not how it works in Tennis, none of the Grand Slams have such a rigid seeding structure, it simply depends on the luck of the draw.

Play suspended due to rain.

The ball boys have to carry an umbrella over their head as they walk a few meters to go indoors? It wasn't even raining yet ffs.

Rafa today is just

I don't care who he you put in the draw he'd have beaten them in this sort of form. You are simply watching the greatest clay courter of all time.

What's the record for the fewest games conceded en route to the final?

He's made a mockery of his side of the draw (which is definitely easier than the other half, has to be said).

Well that was quick. He'll have tons of energy for the final, Federer and Djokovic to destroy themselves and him to finish off the winner in the final.

That was one of the more dominant performances on clay in recent memory. Ferrer was actually playing quite well, but Rafa was playing some of the best tennis of his career.

Wow. I've not seen Rafa play better at the French. Incredible. Lost only 5 games. And this was against a very good clay court player.

I think Fed will win this in 4 or I hope he does. He has the home support and Djokovic hasn't been in the best of form. Should be a fun match!

This is one time you should want djokovic to win. He seems to be in poor form and Nadal is awesome at the French. As a good a chance as he'll ever get to avenge one of those gs final defeats.

I think I'll be more comfortable with Fed in the final since Nadal has a good record against him. Djokovic even in bad form just doesn't know how to lose.

Luck of the draw. Nadal played Fed in the Aussie Open semis and got Murray in his half this time.

What a total and complete meltdown from Federer. Forehand in disarray and he loses it 6-4. Well it was good while it lasted

Typical Federer of the semis/finals these days. Just too many lame errors and periods of completely losing his game.

Break point Djokovic.

Geez, Federer is too inconsistent.

Yep. I used to be pulling my hair out at it (being a fan of his) before but I've come to accept that it's a part of his game now that he's going to have 2 poor games every set. And at over 30, I'd be surprised if he overcame it.

I can't see either of these two beating Nadal at the French. Forget the fact that Nadal is almost unplayable on this surface, but these two aren't even close to their best form which is the bare minimum to even have a chance on Sunday.

Djokovic breaks back again. Federer making too many unforced errors.

Again, broken.

So Federer breaks Djokovic once, loses the set.

Federer breaks him twice, loses his serve twice.

How many breaks does he need to control a set?!

It's fun yet the standard is low. Federer is basically throwing his racquet at everything and Djokovic is playing at 50%.

This is plain silly from Federer. You've broken him thrice FFS.

Federer's coach wants him to play more attacking tennis and Federer can't handle long rallies anymore. Against Djokovic it's better to keep the rallies short, because Djokovic is like a freakin' pitbull, he will chase and return every damn ball.

Djokovic breaks again.
