French Open 2012

He most definitely wasn't at his best, but that doesn't mean he won't be at his best tomorrow. Mentally he is a beast. I really am not sure what will happen tomorrow. Either nadal will just show that he is just better on clay and win in straight sets or well we all know...
I have a feeling that if it goes to 3 sets then nadal will win and if it goes to 5 sets then djokovic will win(even though nadal should be better physically right now).

I'm actually not even saying he was at his best, but he wasn't completely average either. Some of the tennis was high level, the 36 shot rally should show that.

Sharapova going to win her first Roland Garros. Too powerful.

That was a great game, I believe she will be a big favorite in Wimbledon too.

There you go. Maria Sharapova gets her career grandslam. Well deserved.

Errani played well I must say.

How did errani get to the final? Anyway well deserved win for sharapova.

 @ the announcer calling up as the the runner-up: Maria Sharapova

She defeated Stosur and I think Ivanovic and Kuznetsova as well.

Monica Seles looking good. Didn't know she was that tall.

The Russian anthem sounds great.

Her serve was little too weak otherwise could've been a decent match.

Man all these 'if's' that are being thrown around are funny.

IF Federer played 'half-decent' he would have won? How the feck can you know that?

And everyone downplaying his performance against Federer, how can you say that he wasn't at his best when he made such few unforced errors? The way he pressured Federer was impressive, sure he may have played better (as Federer should have) but it's not like he was just average.

3-0 down in the second set, and he pulls it back and wins the set. That doesn't happen if you're just playing average.

Roger helped Djokovic a huge amount by playing very poorly when he got the lead in the 1st 2 sets. Djokovic was steady and Roger made too many unforced errors. If Novak is to have any chance against Nadal he has to up is game big time or else Nadal will blow him away.

Yes. Djokovic played at about 60% yesterday which won't be good enough tomorrow.

Federer's ball striking actually really impressed me. I hope he takes positives from that and keeps working on it as he's going to have to hit a heavier ball as he ages and he can't sustain longer rallies. But the spate of errors was very poor once again. You can't beat the world number 1 handing over so many free points.

Djokovic wasn't bad. He clearly was returning very well and putting enough pressure on Federer to go for extra on his shots which lead to errors. But as I said, nothing near his best. The amount of times he himself got broken is a testament to that.

Nadal has this one in the bag unfortunately as Djokovic is far from his best and if Roger had played half-decently he could have won today. Nadal is just a robot on clay and I see a straight set win for him. Bring on Wimbledon where we will see much more exciting tennis and variety. I think it's Roger's best chance for another title too.

I just don't get posts like this declaring the match as straight forward. Do you know how much motivation the chance to be the first man since Laver to hold all 4 slams at once must be and how much it's gonna pump Djokovic up, then you add the fact of the slight mental advantage he has over Nadal because of all their meetings last year and also the fact that Djokovic's game can take apart Nadal's, I don't think form will really count for much tomorrow, I'd be surprised if it was as straight forward as you claim. Waay too much hinging on the match for Djokovic to go down easy:wenger:

Yeah, everything was Roger's fault. Djokovic was completely average and he wouldn't have had a chance to win if Fed wasn't so sloppy.. Nadal will not blow him away - I just don't see it. We're not talking about Ferrer here, we're talking about Djokovic, the #1 and the player who has smashed Nadal over the past year. A player gunning for the 4 grand slams in a row, it's gonna be a tight game I'm sure. I'm kind of shocked by how many people are not giving Djokovic a chance in this final.

Exactly.

Novak defo has a chance. I just think there is an equal possibility of him taking Nadal to five or getting steam-rolled in 3.

He's the world #1 and has won 3 Slams in a row (beating Nadal in all of them) so yes he has more than just a chance! On form, Nadal should win but this is going to be a tight tight match.

I haven't seen Rafa play this well in years. Ferrer came to play and would've beaten most player in the semis. Rafa is simply at another level right now. That said, Djokovic probably has a psychological hex over him after all of the recent wins.

Exactly. It's that mental edge after their recent GS finals is what worries me. Based on form through the entire Clay court season there should be only one winner but with Djokovic on the other side, who knows.

Exactly. My beef is with how easy people think Nadal is going to win. Let's hope for an epic, which I think we will get.

This match is going to take forever. Got stuff to do this evening, hope they finish before 7pm.

Perfect start for Nadal with the break. Winning the first set against Novak is incredibly important.
