Haven't watched him before but watching his youtube performances he looks pretty decent on the ball. Just his style of play looks better than both Savic and Talisca for us imo, Savic because he plays a bit too much like Pogba does.

Not sure how he'll adapt to the PL but other Shakhtar players have done pretty well so hopefully he slots in well.

Hopefully this also means we're not chasing anymore CM's. We really need a RW, and two full backs asap.

With Fellaini and Carrick leaving, we'll have only 4 options for midfielder while we'll want to play with 3 most of games. It'll be mad to enter the next season without at least another midfielder, a top one too. We still don't know if Fred will nail on a starting position without much fuss or not. We still need to sign Savic imo.

These were my wish list too. The signing literally target every weakness we have had in the side for quite a few seasons.

In the hope Sanchez recaptures form and we actually start playing attacking football, that teams potential is unbelievable.

Mixed feelings. Faster and More mobile and energetic version of Matic , better Passing range and vision than Herrera, good enough to beat Man city for title ambitions and win it consistently? Not 100% sure about that.Time will tell. I hope he is Fellani's Replacement and Matic's and Herrera's competition in the team And not Carrick's replacement.

Sincerely hope we are also looking for any sort of Playmaker who can change a game in one instant.

Is it just me or his profile is just like Brazilian Anderson we signed under Fergie?

Don't think it is. Anderson was supposed to be a forward/playmaker but he turned into a genuine midfielder through the magic of SAF.

Fred is quite good defensively and doesn't really venture into the box like Anderson used to.

Almost the ideal team for us.. but I worry about the lack of creativity up front. Sanchez doesn't really dribble, so we'll be looking at Willian to be our main dribbler. Having someone making dribbles, runs in behind and opening up spaces was one of our biggest problems this season, and I think with that team it would continue.

Ideally we'd get Mahrez in instead. If we have money for both him and Willian I'd do that and play both of those instead of Sanchez.

If we were playing three strikers, yeah. But we don't. Our wingers will be playing back just in front of the midfield. It won't be a problem at all because we don't play like that. Pogba drifts left, because he gets more space on the ball there, it doesn't mean every one of our midfielders will be drifting wide, hell most won't even think of that. They will be covering their area of the pitch, but as central midfielders, that will be inside the full backs and wingers.
Pogba do drift wide left, but more often than not, he looks to play the ball inside. If we consider the fact our wide forwards play narrow too, I feel that a natural right footer on the other side, just like Herrera will provide more balance to the midfield and make the play wider.
You have to admit that inverted midfielders sounds exotic. Maybe we should try inverted strikers?
You do know you can play with inverted wide forwards, don't you? Do you understand what I mean by inverted?

I feel like he’s got all the attributes we could ask for, it’s just a question of whether he can step up to not only Premier League level but Premier League title competitor level.

I've never seen him play.

Is he good? Who's he like? Who's he gonna displace? Can he play 4-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-1-1-7-1? Why is his name Fred?

Bring Perreira back and we're sorted. Lazio want £80m for Savic. Our problem this season wasn't the midfield. It's the fact that our wide forwards / wingers are dog shite and our full backs were good about 5 years ago.

Agree here, particularly on the Matic comparison. I just don't see what we're doing in buying this guy for 50m. He seems pretty good in Ukraine. But he's not exactly been getting rave reviews, even as a 25-year-old. The only exciting thing is his dribbling, and with his position as a deep lying midfielder, he won't be allowed by Mou to dribble out. His passing seems pretty poor to be honest, and his defending isn't even that good for the Ukrainian league. Who knows, maybe he can be improved significantly?

I trust Mou in terms of signings, but I don't like the idea we're turning into a worse version of his Chelsea and Inter teams. If this guy is our Carrick replacement, we're not improving next season.

Two full backs next please and a right winger.

If they can get good ones I will let them off a CB if that's one too many.

I think we need a deep lying playmaker who can control games, tempo and passing, resists pressure etc, moreso than we need SMS. We can't and shouldn't always be playing Matic. SMS is very similar to Pogba.

Perreira will be a 5th or 6th choice in midfield. As I said, we don't know yet if Fred will be a nailed on starter and performs brilliantly, so we need to sign a top name. Also I disagree on the midfield not being an issue, it was during first half of the season when Pogba was injured and we lacked any creativity in midfield with Herrera and Matic as a pair.

I'd say he over dribbles at times which is why he loses the ball so much, hopefully Fred can help Pogba with creativity from our midfield and allow Sanchez to stay higher up.

I want a proper winger on the right... unless we get a RB who is great at going forward.

I’m excited about this signing to be honest. Feels like a Fergie type signing where it’s a relatively unknown name with potential who’s hungry to improve himself and prove himself at the highest level.

I still think that team lacks teeth offensively. I don't see the need to overhaul and sign 3 new defenders, Perhaps just Sandro and Alderweireld? I would also rather pass on Willian until someone who is potentially world class is available.

Ive always judged our wingers by the likes of Giggs, Ronaldo, Best. Essentially I think we should be looking for a world beater at RW, not just a steady upgrade who is already ageing.

SSN must be livid, £50m (if true) is City's standard fee. They'll have to really scrape through his bonuses/salary/travel costs to make this into a story.

Expect some vague headline like 'United sign Fred who could cost them up to £100m' or 'United gamble with expensive Fred signing'

We are paying £44m for him, so you know they'll convert it to dollars then change the currency to pounds and still keep the same number.
