Gaming Fortnite .

Yeah, for once I agree with Ninja. It's like they are forcing out updates just 'cause, but not investing in fixing things.

Building through the floors, weapon dropping, first weapon lag, these are all major things that need fixing. Bloom does, but not like this with some shite quick fix that just makes noobs camp. I think they have gone a bit too far up their own arses with all the success and forgetting the core that got them there. Same old.

I'd sacrifice a new gun or additional feature every week for an update that improves the game. In fact, I loved the original game more than I do now. A new update every week just seems over the top.

What is this new update about? @Redlambs @Di Maria's angel

Weapons stronger on initial shot?

First shot accuracy:

Basically, if you're standing still and haven't used a weapon recently, then you first shot hits for 100%. It's indicated by the cross hairs staying centered on the screen. Personally, this wasn't an issue as how often do you stand still in the game? Not a lot unless you're camping.

Plus, they reduced damage at range for most guns or increased weapon drop. Which, again, seems pointless as this was never a problem.

Agreed. It's the quickest way to ruin the game.

I'm still pretty new to it, but already I'm enjoying it much less thanks to the changes recently. They are going in the wrong direction.

Yep. Of course the problem now being camping is far worse as everyone is trying to get that accuracy and it's allowing noobs to hide even more whereas before if they were trash, they'd at least still have to move from the storm quicker.

I'd play it if it weren't for the building part of the game it just doesn't appeal to me.

@Redlambs

I think campers are easy to counter. If you can build with speed, and then just be a shotgun cnut, you'll wipe the floor with a noob.

I think the game needs to implement a building cool-off. If I could show you a clip of a game that my friend and I played yesterday, you'd laugh. It was a 1v1 between the last guy and my mate, the former had an RPG and the latter a remote controlled rocket. After the initial long range fighting, the two converged on top of the football field near tilted. That's where that cnut became a "John Wick" as we call them. This guy built at an incredible rate. My friend would build stairs, his opponent would build higher and thus closing himself off. It was horrible to watch. Some how, my friend inverted his stairs and started building down. Eventually, my mate fecked up and walked straight off the 1000ft tower the two had built and fell to his death. This is where I hate the popularity Ninja has received as he has been a massive influence in turning people into construction workers on drugs. I remember the first few weeks of the game where you'd literally build one set of stairs for cover. Now we have people building the Great Wall of China before they take their first shot.

I'd play it if it weren't for the building part of the game it just doesn't appeal to me.

I wouldn't recommend the game to anyone now. It's become a chore because of the building aspect.

See, this is the problem I'm having explaining it on twitter and why people like Daequan are having trouble explaining the change. It's not about noobs, we can crush the camping easy. It's more about just how much of it there is now and the good players are now doing it.

It's fundamentally changed the flow of the game back to camping like it used to be. I'm fine with camping, but not with everyone doing it. This update kind of forces that and I bet you it gets changed again before the pro scene.

Are you sure you don't mean Myth?

In any case, the hook of this game IS the building. I don't think it should be nerfed, in fact I think the vending machines might help with people having silly amounts of mats. Speaking on that, a good way to deal with pure builders like that would halve the mats you can carry so you have to farm all the time if you want that play style. I think that balance would be better.

I wouldn't go that far, I enjoy the building side (even though I'm trash at it). And that's the main selling point of the game anyway. I just think they'd had a better balance between shooting and building in the past, and now they are pushing it in the build direction too much. If it carries on, then I'll agree with you 100%.

Now just imagine if we got a game that combined the shooting from PubG with a basic building system from early Fortnite. That would work as a new standard :)

It'll be interesting to see how it develops - so far, I haven't seen a bigger issue with camping. I prefer AR fights and probably trust it over the close range ones, so it might make me enjoy the game a little more.

I don't really watch Myth but I think they've both definitely changed the game and the way it's played. Yeah, limitation on resources could be a good idea. But, I reckon a cool-off could also be interesting. For exmaple, once you consume around 100 of a type of resource, you have to wait 10 seconds till you can use that feature again.

As for the last point, I find that friends who I've tried to introduce the game to don't like it or can't get used to it as building has changed so much from when the game was first on the market.

Just think of how building has developed from then. I don't think the game would appeal to a lot of people now - especially, if they want to get better. The casual gamer may still enjoy it.

But that right there is the issue. I prefer long range fights too, by a long way. I hate shotguns and all that jumping around.

But the bigger picture is long range fights will be (and already are) now even more boring, there's no skill in ghost peeking and point and click killing. RNG bloom is trash, but at least that made you have to be a little more unpredictable.

Yeah I'm with you on that front. People just want to play like their favourite streamer and emulate that style. I'm not sure how to counter that in any game though, I've yet to see a single game successfully outlive the way the the top players play and end up bringing it down.

It's definitely gone more noob friendly though, but then again in hindsight what did we expect the moment they add phone support?

Exactly, that's one of the ways to attract more players - so, it's something they probably view as a required enhancement when, in fact, it only serves to ruin the game. I don't know what their numbers are currently, but I wouldn't be surprised if they stagnated soon. Especially, if Call of Duty were to release the remastered version of MW2 soon which would shift a massive number of their fan base towards that direction.

I'll play a little more today and see whether there's an increase in campers. I'm always on the move so I don't really get into many fights within the circle fighting another base camper.

So a few things I've realised. First shot accuracy is complete and utter bullshit. And damage drop off has broken the game. I'm pretty sure I did 25 damage with a sniper rifle, unless my eyes deceived me... I'm not even sure damage drop off counts for snipers. However, it's pretty annoying hitting a guy for 18 with a burst rifle...

Yeah I'm done with this. Lat3st update haa ruined the game.

I hit a guy 6 times with a shotgun which didn't even register. He headshots me with a rifle from 5 m.

Another things that annoys me so much in this game is when people kill you straight away when you're knocked.

I used to almost always leave the guys on the ground and fight the rest of the squad as I thought it was honourable. But, recently, there's been influx of absolute cnuts who'd rather have the kill than fight on. I don't understand the logic - A John Wick sniped me from the storm, ran in and instead of fighting my team, who were next to me, he blasts me with an RPG...

That's a lot to do with crossplay. I've been playing on PS4 and with PS4 players from PC and lot lately and they play the game totally different. Thirsting just to get a kill whether they die or not is more done on console.

No idea why because it's a stupid move if you are in a fight. The only time I do it mid-battle is if I desperately need mats or bullets.

More interesting changes to the game:

Added the port-a-fort: not sure about this. Guess it helps console players a lot, but they could just allow us to select whether we want cross platform on or off.
Slower switch times between weapons is another interesting aspect which I think is a great addition as it stops those "pros" from constantly double shotgunning. Plus, it slows the game down a little thus allowing for more diverse fights.

On another note, landed at Dusty and picked up 6 kills within the first 30 seconds.

Dusty seems really busy these days for some reason! I got 4 there earlier and I'm trash

I don't like the update for the pure reason it fecks with the sniper for some bizarre shite design choice. I agree with anything that nerfs the pumps though, but slower gameplay and that shite first shot rubbish just encourages even more hiding.

The replay mode is epic though, especially looking back for those guys who land near you and hide the entire game to get top 10. I'm beginning to find that more fun than the actual game!

Speaking of which, I don't see how this dumbing down to force us in line with console/mobile players and making us play cross platform is good for the game, especially the pro scene. I'm honestly losing interest and already looking for the next game and I'm still newish to this one.

Yeah, I re-watched my Dusty game and around 15 people were landing there. It's a pretty good addition.

Weird that you're losing interest. I've really started to like the game again. I'm curious Lambs, how many wins do you have? I've racked up something like 145 wins across all three modes. I remember you saying that you don't really play to win but more for the action, maybe change that up and go for wins with late action?

As for other games, check this one out:

I'm losing interest because I see where it's heading and it's pretty sad. I hate shotguns too, I really can't stand them, but these stupid little changes are just too much and the wrong direction. Maybe I shouldn't lose faith so quick, but to me it's clear where it's heading.

I have around 30 wins all in, but I don't play enough to worry about it. I can camp all day long and win, but I just like to drop and have fun in the little time I get. Believe me if I could get on more, I'd put much more into it and actually try hard sometimes

And yeah I watched King Richard play Radical heights, I might give it a shot. At very least the weapons look like they hit if you aim properly ;)

Yup, I think I know where you think it's heading and I sort of agree with it. I remember when MW2 first came out and felt as if IW didn't seem to want to do about the perennial camping, until I figured that they would never change aspects of their game that appealed to a "noob". That's where Epic are going and I don't have too many complaints. I just racked up four wins in squads and still find ways to counter the campers in this game - although truth be told, there are two types of players I see a) your John Wick builders b) crap noobs with very, very few campers. The first set of players are annoying to play against and I have to try my arse off to beat them. The second type are just crap and are a walking kill. The campers... well I trust my long range aim, and I can build quite quickly so that isn't much of a problem.

I know many streamers are annoyed with the slow switching times but I feel like they exploited this game so much that they, to some extent, ruined the game. Like I've mentioned, I feel comfortable going toe to toe against a competent builder but it's extremely stressful and isn't fun, although very satisfying. However, I cannot agree with slowing down snipers, and the first shot accuracy - both are pointless and don't add anything to the game. The port-a-fort is oddly funny; whilst I don't need it, I've sometimes just thrown in it down amidst a fight and it's turned out a very useful as both a base and a decoy.

They need to find a right balance with this game, it's still very fun but they're becoming overly obsessed with these weekly updates. Finally, this game will never head into the pro scene so I hope the so-called pros stop trying to push EG to pursue that route.

They do need to find a balance, and yes it's the weekly updates that will ruin this game sooner than anyone thought imo. I understand why they are doing what they are doing, they are making a fortune, but it's the little increments that eventually will build up and before we know it we'll all hate the game equally

I think they'll try to go pro, no doubt about it. However after the initial buzz, I can't see people watching it as much as these 'pros' think, especially if these changes to slow the game and pushing camping more continue. When money is on the line, there'll 100% be nothing but camping and ghost peeking.

They tried to fix that and screwed aiming to a whole new level.

This was hilarious. My friend and I were knocked out, with our only standing friend also inside the port-a-fort and somehow this idiot choked an easy triple kill.

Ah. Ok. Cool. Think I’ve already done that but will check. Thanks.
In case you don't know how it's: Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings > Personal Info + Messaging > Messages. You then choose from a drop down menu between "anyone", "friends only" or "no one".

Anyone up for a few games tonight? Xbox or ps4

Hiding the kill count, I see.

His celebation the other day was a fortnite emote. I would watch his stream if he wasnt such an annoying footballer.

Oh I’m well familiar with that emote. Whenever I watch my kid in U-9 football training you can guarantee that there will be at least half a dozen kids flossing at any given moment.

Full shield, full health. Must be a bush wanker haha.

You can watch a recording to the stream on Twitch. He's fairly active, but carried by his team (which includes Kyle Walker-Pieters) a bit.

This has got to be the most overrated game in history

Yeah it’s decent for free but I don’t understand all the hype it brings. People seem addicted to it but I’m not quite sure why.

Why do you think its overrated?

The game is really simple to play and hardly groundbreaking but it’s just that it’s everywhere online at the minute and everyone seems to be addicted to it.

I’ve played it a few times and yeah it’s a fun game but I really don’t understand all the hype it brings with it.
