I was addicted to PC gaming as a kid, MMO's would pretty much occupy my mind all day up from about 13-14 until was 17. I used to go to an LAN-café and do all nighters..it wasn't great for street cred, but it was just another way of socialising with my friends who were all equally obsessed!
Soon moved on...when alcohol and women because my new vice!
Pretty much identical story to myself and close friends from 14-17. Now, I don't even own a console because I don't have time to play it enough to make it worth my while. It might be worse now a days socially though because children are staying in playing games as opposed to going outside at a very young age. Whereas I always had consoles but you'd finish a single player game or could play it anytime. It's the online gaming that is much more addictive. Whereas I didn't have boardband until I was in the age bracket mentioned above at home or in a gaming centre.
Apparently in recent years, employer are finding it impossible to deal with some young people on work experience as they just don't have any social skills due to online addictions (gaming & social media).
Miles off topic but..
