Gaming Fortnite .

Switching to the "build a pro" controller setup makes things so much easier, but I'm the same.

I'm a very good shooter but once it gets into a crazy build battle I struggle, I just can't think fast enough to build / attack at the same time.

I have friends that are better at it so I let them push and I sit back and pick them off lol.

Use the playground mode to practise, it's pretty quick to learn.

I only get on for about an hour at most some nights so feck using that playground thing, straight in the thick of it lol! I'm the same, I am good with the shooting part but I just cant build as good as people so they just destroy me. C4's are coming out tonight and ill be sitting in a few trees rubbing my hands

While I understand that, you'll be better in the game if you practise building for 30 mins.

You get pretty much unlimited resources (and much faster too) so you can build very quickly and regularly without panicking about being killed.

I learnt how to use the build a pro mode there and it's made me better.

Up to you though!

I can build a stairs with wall in front with build a pro controls but when it comes to someone building up along side me or above etc its more panic I suppose lol! I may try it but I don't think I can do much more, some people are freaks! I watch people who kill me sometimes and they are insanely good

Yeah I know what you mean, the speed at which they can do it is crazy. I end up getting confused and blocking myself in or falling off and killing myself

C4 is pretty underrated in that sense, just lob a couple at the base while he's building and get ready to shoot as he drops :D

Been playing fortnite recently.... People can build a fortress in about 2 seconds flat and heres me building stairs over my head and blocking myself in. Quality game, but I'm so bad. Might resort to having fun with traps and C4

I know how you feel

That feeling when you're completely panic building is hilarious I love it

Just downloaded this for PC. Used to playing PUBG but all the friends I used to play it with are bored of it, so thought I'd give this is a try. How hard is it going to be to adapt, I've heard the building is gunna be a big learning curve.

Can't relate to the PC version but as a very new PS4 player I've been playing around 5 days and I'm already starting to get a lot better at the building side of things and winning more than my fair share of gun fights. The playground mode is fantastic for practicing the building side.

I found the shooting mechanic (shite rng bloom) the hardest thing to get used to, though with the smgs it's not such a thing now.

To be honest you are joining when the game is at it's lowest at the moment, which is kind of helpful to you as the smg/c4 meta kind of wrecks building play at the so you should have an easier time of it.

Also, playground mode. Use that to practice, it's a new thing and a big advantage to new players now.

What do you mean by lowest?

In terms of the current meta. The smg is the worst this game has had, way worse than double pump ever was, at least that required some degree of skill.

It's spray and pray right now even with the slight nerfs. Ar, shottys, pretty much everything bar smgs, c4 and snipers are useless. Also building has taken a number of hits of late too. It's just all so boring, and stupidly easy if you get a p90 and c4 at the moment, but I guess it helps new players out for a bit.

This showdown LTM thing.

What are the chances I win V bucks from this? Do I have tovplay 24/7 to be in the leaderboards to compete with the no life Fortniters?

That is, is it useless for someone who works and cannot give 24 hours a day to Fortnite?

You get a certain amount of games, you don't have to play 24/7 just make the most of the games you have.

And it's awful. Full of sweaty try hards.

So say it's capped at around 50 games and you get a score for your final efforts?

Sorry for the simple questions...I’m new to the game (and shooting games in general). Are you saying I should be using the smg because it’s more accurate? I’ve found my shooting accuracy god awful in fortnite, compared to players that seem to pick me off no problems

SMG shoots insanely fast + has good damage to go with it. You can melt a player before they even get a chance to react.

Cheers mate....

I only play sometimes with my son, but really starting to enjoy it. My extent of gun knowledge is that I like the drum gun because it looks like some mafia style murder weapon

It's so annoying and it's taking enjoyment out of the game. I only play squads or duo these days, solo is too boring. Duo is still okay in the sense that if you're only against two people using close range high clip weapons, you can still outplay people in the right circumstances.

In squads, if you've got 3 or 4 people spamming you with smg/drum/mini/LMG it's almost impossible to do anything. Pretty much every game we played the other night ended with coordinated spam towards the opponent, both against us and doing it ourselves.

I really like the map changes this season, but the meta shift towards automatic weapons with large clips and a high rate of fire is seriously annoying.

So just got a PS4 (late to the party, not really a big gamer but just broke my leg so have time on my hands). Is this free to play?

Yeah it’s completely free. I’d recommend buying the battle pass (£7.99) as it gives you a bit more of a direction and is goal focused and let’s you unlock different things.

Sweet. I'll do just that!

Plus it sounds great

Its anstonishingly stupid and illustrates how awful the developers are. They literally cannot make a single good decision for themselves. They eliminated almost all the skill it took to play this game and replaced it with a meta in which a blind person could achieve success.

Yeah it's terrible. But they are dumbing it more and more as we know, so it's not being reversed anytime soon.

I've been playing save the world more lately because of it, which is decent so far.

Are you guys talking about the PC version?

Yeah but console players don’t play with PC players by default, correct?

It's lot more mixed these days tbh, but in general if you are in a ps4 squad then you should just be in a ps4 server. But cross-platform console players can hold their own much more than any game I've played before in fortnite, don't feae being matched up with PC players. Especially with the smg meta as it stands.

But Epic are mainly changing it for the mobile players though, that's where the most money ultimately is and that's what spray and pray is for.

I’ve tried the mobile game but I’d really need a controller to play it for it to be enjoyable. The touchscreen is a nonsense

It is indeed

My main format is PC, though I occasionally play PS4. But lately my favourite it the Switch version for fun. I'm surprised it hasn't hit the floor in rage yet though!

I’m playing a lot on PS4, only downloaded recently but I’m really enjoying it so far to be fair. The SMG was recently nerf’d a little wasn’t it? I’m sure they’ll look at it again if the community still isn’t happy. I still can’t get a controller sensitivity I’m happy with, I’ve only ever been good at FPS games and I’m still struggling to adapt to aim accurately and quickly.

They've ruined the game with the new gun. I haven't got it once in over 40 games and anyone who pushes seems to have it. It's so OP.

Yeah I have tried various sensitivity combinations and finally settled on 8/6 and ADS/Scope is 0.65. What's yours?

Fortnite's Week 3 Summer Skirmish was way better than the first 2 weeks. The server didn't lag. Players were playing for kills rather than surviving. Overall, it more entertaining to watch the top players battle it out against one another instead of camping from the get-go.

Thanks for the duos @Slevs and apologies for being shit! I normally just mess around on 50v50 so even changing to duos takes a bit of getting used to.

Nah, twice it was my fault. That snipe was really amateurish from me.
