Gaming Football Manager 2024

Not a long injury, but the timing of him signing and then injury makes me think he got injured walking out to train

So I was supposed to buy this a couple months ago but the sale disappeared before I remembered to get it.
Can buy it for a 33% off discount so instead of $39.99 it would be $26.79.

Should I get it now or continue playing my FM22 save and just get this free/more discounted in 2024?
Bought it but waiting until after January transfer window to start my save.

Have they fixed the player happiness stuff yet, or are they all still kicking off every five minutes?

I get advised to give players a rest, then the next day my assistant recommends to start the tired players in the upcoming match.

Got fed up with winning everything with United, so I started a Wrexham project (seeing as I now live here).

They have feck all money, but some clever loan deals and bargain buys has seen me shoot up the leagues and I now sit in the Premier League after 3 successive promotions, 2 via play offs.

Shaqueel Van Persie, Jack Fletcher and Dan Gore are all mainstays in my team, plus Paul Mullin still knocking them in alongside Rhian Brewster. Managed to pick up Sancho for £5.8m after he fell out with Ten Hag and Pellistri for £8m as he never played and was transfer listed, got Rico Lewis on loan from City as well and sit a respectable 14th in the league in January, and should be safe from relegation.

Is that a typo or did you really mean 5.8mil for Jadon Sancho? And even at that price, he ended up at Wrexham? That sounds mental.

Yep, 5.8m. He’s not played for United much, was on the transfer list, and I was coming up to the premier league. He’s on a £90k 5 year contract as a rotation player, and current value is £6.25m.

he’s currently being kept out of the team by Shaqueel Van Persie and Pellistri, and he’s a right moaning cnut.

Does the in game editor only work with a new game or can you use it on a game you’re currently playing?

In game editor can be used on the game currently, the pre game editor, you have to start a new save

Hopefully we get more for him in real life

Giving this a go. Very much enjoying having to remove a hearing aid, vitiligo, multiple rings and an earring from my default manager. Glad they've added an eyepatch feature as well because they had a lot of complaints from pirates.

I cannot seem to get one of the rings off my character. I know it's irrelevant but wtf  It just keeps saying it's selected.

That's just the one ring to rule them all

Ok so I've spent lunch today downloading facepacks, logo packs, trophy packs, kitbasher (for changing kits each season), real names fixes and also a realism fixer that seems to make the youth in smaller countries better, distribution of talent fairer, salaries and values better, more realistic injuries, etc..

I've also used the pre-game editor to sanction City as is needed in real life.

- 16 year transfer ban
- All sponsors removed
- Negative transfer and wage budget
- 700m of debt with interest

I plan to start unemployed and pick up a job in League One or Two so this likely won't affect me much for a bit but it feels like it should be done regardless.

Taken the Cambridge Utd job. Rock bottom of League One at Christmas.

Still in PL ?

I am right back into this again. Tried to leave it this year, but when life gets busy, it’s a nice escape having a game on the go.

Going to start no badges and Sunday League and currently holidaying with all English, Scottish, Portuguese, Norwegian and Swedish leagues loaded.

I have never managed to start anywhere else but the Vanarama North/South before with no badges or experience but maybe I will get lucky this time and get into Norway if a team implodes at the start of the season.

Can’t wait for the mindless trialing

Got the new laptop then? Just in time to play this buggy mess.

Nah it’s gonna have to wait until after my Europe trip I think. The price went up on the one I wanted and it just felt like a lot to spend in January.

Player: "I'm going to explore my options at the end of my contract"
Me: "Oh really, I thought you were happy here?"
Player: "I don't know who's been informing you but I'm not as happy here as you'd think"
Me: "Sorry to hear that, ok I won't stand in your way"
Player: "The way you've acted over this has really left me feeling disappointed. If anything it's strengthened my resolve"

Player now upset.

You should have put them in some of the lower leagues or let them start with -115points

Yeah but my plan was to start League Two or one so they might end up being my problem

I fancied a change from FM over Christmas, craving something more casual, akin to the old FIFA Manager/Total Club Manager. I found Football Tactics & Glory on Steam for around £15 including two DLCs.

It's basically a turn-based strategy game with a football management component. I was initially really put off by the idea and was minded to sim the games, thinking that I only really wanted the club building element. For the first season, this didn't really change much as I found I could spam the same moves and score. I found the tutorials a bit frustrating and wasn't really keen on learning the mechanics. However, I persisted due to how quickly I could go through matches and because it started off easy.

When I got promoted, however, players started to get better with more specialisms and there were a few games where I came a cropper. My motivation to get better increased. Since then, I've had another promotion and a further season surviving in the 'Second League' (equivalent of League One in England). It's now really hard. As my club have progressed very fast, my players are not as good as most in the league so I'm having to survive by good tactical play and slowly upgrading my club, which is pretty much how it would be in real life.

Basically I'm really enjoying it now. A fantastic change of pace from FM, which still remains a superb game too. I'd strongly recommend you all check it out. You might want to wait til the sequel comes out in March/April time but apparently owners of the current one get a discount on the new one anyway. It's also out on the Nintendo Switch, a console I own but I'm glad to have it on the PC. One of the best aspects of the game is how active the developers are in making multiple improvements based on community feedback and they're also very responsive on the Steam forum.

Player interactions code must be based on Sancho.

Got Vaduz promoted as champions 1st season, failed to make the ECL group stage though but it's practically impossible to fail to win the Leitchenstein Cup and get back every year.

2nd season somehow finished 2nd but way off top as Young Boys just dominate this league. Ended up getting into the ECL league phase and qualified for the play off round before getting knocked out. Must've been worth about £4-5m for the club overall though so I upgraded the youth facilities.

Corners seem a bit strong, I use 3 routines equally because I try to avoid cheesing it but I still felt we scored a lot from corners. Also lost 5-1 to Leverkusen and every single goal they scored came from a corner.

Ok after years of 2D I've been converted to 3D. It does look really good this year. Solid animations and you really get a good idea of what's happening in the game.

I saw there was a constant gap on the edge of the box when we attacked so we were never picking up clearances from crosses. I also had a tired CM, so I pulled my other CM (playing CB) out of defence and stuck him in CM with an instruction to get forward. 5 mins later he gets on the end of one of those clearances and smashes in a half volley.

The amount of disallowed goals in this is a joke. I’m getting like 2 a game at the minute.

On the positive side I picked up Ian Poveda on a free for Cambridge and he’s been superb. I’m in my second season and we’re 4th in League One after 13 games.

Did he used to play for City or am I thinking of a different guy?

I've loaned a young CB from Spurs. He is playing as a Central Defender, every game.

Postecoglou moans at me in October that he's not playing as a central defender. Whatever. I say he is. Then just agree to play him in that role.

It's now November. Saturday 16th - 8:55am. Ange says "I am content with the number of appearances he has made as a central defender since asking you to."

Sunday 17th - 11:45pm. Ange Postecoglou wants to hold a conversation with you to discuss why the player is playing outside of the agreed role.

It's dogshit. This kind of shit is so bad. Absolute wankers that make this game honestly.

What annoys me even more about shit like this is that it shouldn't even be hard to code. Unless you've implemented interactions in a completely hopeless way.

This is probably the first year in a while that I've been able to get a 4-2-3-1 to be really effective and punch way above it's weight.

Doing that database which recreates ex-yugoslavia and merges all the teams in there, fast forwarded 10 years in the future and took on my hometown team, and then used genie scout to look through the CA and PA of the general level of the league. My starting 11 ranges from high 120's to low 140's as the best player, and the bench is in the 110's generally with some 120's, yet this tactic is regularly destroying much better squads (130's - 150's levels). Scoring loads of goals, direct classic wingers but with just player instructions to cut inside (rather than going inverted wingers)... loving it.

Had a player who had back to back cruciate ligament injuries. First time I think I've ever had that happen in any FM. Retired at 28.

I'm learning to embrace Extended Highlights instead of Key, because I think it just makes you less pissed off in the long run.

Can be very frustrating if you've got it on key and you're super attacking and the clock just flies by with not a single highlight. I used to find myself screaming in my head "Do something!!". Now at least I can see there is stuff happening. It also means you don't instantly think ffs when a highlight shows because it's not a guarantee it will be a goal.

Does anyone have any issues with GK ratings tanking in games and conceding almost every shot?

It seems to happen to me occasionally, usually when I haven’t lost in a while.

Those that love the game would say it’s a tactics issue but it’s immediately resolved by withdrawing the keeper, but by then you could be 2-3 down.

It feels like a way to artificially impede progress, but I’m not sure. Anyone else noticed anything similar?

I wrote a post a few weeks back because I deleted a save. Realised I was on Key not Extended afterwards

Started a new game. Just finished my 4th season with Cessna & have won the Serie A from Serie C.

Extended highlights give you a hint before the goals [sometimes].
