Gaming Football Manager 2024

Even journeyman type saves are a bit boring on this version because you can do really well really quickly. It's an easier game this season.

I'm just really addicted to it. It's one of the few games I can play non stop through a year.

I’ve asked for some money towards a desktop computer this Christmas as my laptop is 6 years old now and slowing. If I get that I may start a save with lots of leagues loaded. Will probably need to use community realism fixes and the editor to make it not dogshit but it’s possible.

That's literally the biggest issue with SI and Miles.

There biggest challenge is not improving the graphics, but improving squad building AI and the transfers AI, and they really need to build it up from scratch.

The game is fine if you're playing a journey man save or starting with bottom of the pyramid team, but the game gets boring too quickly if you start with a Man Utd.

SI and Miles won’t ever fix the glaring issues but adding face paint is a priority

They advertised squad building as a headline feature too. The gall.

More absolutely trash stuff from this trash game.
The Esc/work permit thing. Don’t put something in the game if you don’t know how to make it work you absolute clowns. You sign a player on esc who then gets a work permit the following summer. He then immediately puts in a transfer request saying he’s worried about a work permit. You literally just got one!

AI beating you to free transfers despite them offering 50-80% a lower contract. I mean it’s always been a thing but they stil haven’t fixed it and it’s actually now worse than ever.

And what’s with every player wanting to explore options at the end of their contract. When was this a thin that effected 4/5 players every summer.

It’s genuinely disgraceful that they put this product out like this.

Isn't that also to do with club or division rep?

As in they demand more from higher division rep?

I mean I don’t know but I do know I offered Dele ali 12k and insane bonuses to sign for Mk dons (listed as a favourite club of his) in league one. He rejected it and signed for Dutch second division side Zwolle for 7k. It makes absolutely no sense.

No. It's usually that they sign for higher rep clubs for lower money. I'd double check but perhaps Zwolle are higher rep than MK Dons.

Basically what @SilentWitness said, they'll sign for lesser money if the other club has higher reputation than yours. This game takes reputation way too seriously.

I can understand your case as Dele is atleast earning something. But I had a much more worse experience than you. I'm playing as Rugby Town(trying out Workthespace's youtube team) just promoted to the division below Vanaram North/South, I offer this right back £450/week part time contract, star player, 45% promotion wage rise and various other bonuses but he instead opts to sign for Penybont on a fecking amateur contract earning feck all.

Infuriated me so much that I used editor to move him to my club. Feck that shit, no one is going to play for free just because the other club has higher reputation.

Haven’t played FM since FM12

Tried FM13 but found it way too over complicated and focused on tactics

What are they like now? Do you have to be tactically spot on still or you’ll lose every game despite having the best players?
Even worse, many moving parts including squad hierarchy/mentoring, analytics and training.

I have another question regarding this game too

Want to start as United but I want to also incorporate the coming personnel at board level

What would be the most realistic way of doing it to make it translate to FM? It’s a weird one as the minority owners have all the football control

Thinking make Avram and Joel just “directors” like I assume their siblings will be already. Then Ratcliffe as owner, Blanc as CEO and I’m not sure about Brailsford. I’ll leave Murtough for now

There will almost certainly be an editor file out there that does this for you.

You can delegate it all to staff
Thanks. I am gonna be the Avram Glazer of football managers

Except I’ll actually care about the results

As I mentioned previously here - I haven’t played an installment of FM since FM2012 so I’m effectively starting as a beginner. Would you recommend being Bayern or something for a season to get my eye back into it? Or just jump straight in as Salford or whoever?

Start with a big club to get hang of the things. Even playing as United is easy as the game literally throws wonderkids in your face and you'll be winning titles in no time as long as you have a decent working tactic.

Bruno decided after 18 months he wanted out to Saudi. Managed to negotiate them to 103m and then signed Foden (who was transfer listed since Pep left City and was replaced by Jose) for 60m.

Wan Bissaka also refuses to sign a new contract, expires in 6 months. Had a few offers from Fulham and Tottenham but the bellend rejects their contracts so looks like he's leaving on a free. Want to sign Frimpong to replace him but don't think I'll have the money come the summer, as also need to sign a Erikson replacement.

Mustn't have fancied playing left back.

Opened the season away at PSG and of course Mbappe, Ugarte, Simons, Vitinha and Musiala were all left out of their squad due to the annoying squad management/rotation bug (they all played in the Super Cup game a few days before).

Still barely scraped a draw though :nervous:

Playing around with the editor, gonna try and recreate the old Yugoslav league and then make a save with my hometown club (Željezničar). Confusing as hell process but I'm committed. Gonna just adjust the league reputation and finances for the teams and prize money to be something in the realm of the Bundesliga or Ligue 1, so it's somewhere in that tier competing to be a top 5 league. Once I get it working will probably holiday like 10-15 years to the future where hopefully it had some bigger impact and is settled where it should be. This way hopefully can takeover one of them and get to the point of at least being a dark horse in Europe?

Surprised there's an appetite to play the new game on old databases. It's usually the other way around no?

Often, yes, but who wouldn't want the modern functionalities with classic databases? It's a nostalgic trip with all the benefits of being able to try to replicate classic-era tactics in detail. I did an 80's db once and took over that Milan. It was fun trying to re-work Sacchi's system into the new tactical mechanic.

Despite Everton's 10 point deduction and almost zero transfer budget, I won the league in the first season (confirmed on final day at home to Liverpool) and the FA Cup.

Feels more than just a bit too easy. I think Jesse Lingard, who I got on a free, scored 15 from number ten. Meanwhile, City finish seventh and Pep gets the sack.

How much points did you get?

88, or 98 in the eyes of the fans. Finished two clear of United with Villa and Liverpool rounding out the top four. Lost four, drew two and won the rest. Beto and DCL got 19 goals each, Lingard 17 and Yaser Asprilla chipped in 11 from signing in January. Jack Harrison was brilliant but Leeds won't let me have him.

I once tried making the Bosnian league one of the best in Europe and it was a hard process. Did end up winning the World Cup though with some decent regens. I probably should have played around with the rep more because building a league that low down is hard.

Yeah, figured if I give the best teams an upper-mid Bundesliga/prem level reputation
and copy finances and sponsors from clubs like Villa/Brighton/Palace into them, toss premier league prize money and tv money into the league then it should help the league grow and be competitive. The first 5 or so years probably will be weird where they're getting money but every team is a bit shit so the rep is dropping but quality is growing. Going to just holiday to a point like 10 years in and then takeover my local team.

The hard part is getting the right squad rules in I think. Trying to make it so all players that come out of the 7 different ex Yugoslavian countries are treated as homegrown in nation so that I can try to push a more domestic based league with registration and selection rules. That and there was that rule in the past where players weren't allowed to leave the country until 27, so trying to implement that to keep the quality in the league.

Edit: fecked around playing with this for hours today. Got something decent working. Went on the SI Games forum to have a glance and saw somebody released a perfect yugo reborn database... yeah I'm just gonna take that one.

I was thinking that... Not helpful, I know.

Any tips on how to get your striker to score more consistently? The only save I've had where I felt my strikers did a good job was with Southampton. Mara and Adams were banging them in with Adam Armstrong on the right who had a solid number too. But I can't really copy that to other clubs.

Como season 3 going well. Hovering around 6th in Serie A in Feb so Europe could be on the cards.

Not that I'll stay around for it, very likely to take an offer to a bigger club in the summer. Already been offered interviews at Hoffenheim, Union Berlin and perhaps most flattering, Brentford. Bundesliga does appeal, but want to see this season out first.

So I was supposed to buy this a couple months ago but the sale disappeared before I remembered to get it.
Can buy it for a 33% off discount so instead of $39.99 it would be $26.79.

Should I get it now or continue playing my FM22 save and just get this free/more discounted in 2024?

Picked this up last week, signed myself up for another attempt at winning the CL with Vaduz.
8 points clear in the 2nd division after 15 games, only 1 team goes up automatically so hopefully we can maintain it.

How has everyone found board interactions this year? They were a pain in the backside for me when trying to do this on 22.

Got fed up with winning everything with United, so I started a Wrexham project (seeing as I now live here).

They have feck all money, but some clever loan deals and bargain buys has seen me shoot up the leagues and I now sit in the Premier League after 3 successive promotions, 2 via play offs.

Shaqueel Van Persie, Jack Fletcher and Dan Gore are all mainstays in my team, plus Paul Mullin still knocking them in alongside Rhian Brewster. Managed to pick up Sancho for £5.8m after he fell out with Ten Hag and Pellistri for £8m as he never played and was transfer listed, got Rico Lewis on loan from City as well and sit a respectable 14th in the league in January, and should be safe from relegation.

Not really changed much
