Gaming Football Manager 2016

Been playing Touch so much recently I've gotten into a terrible habit of simming games and not playing them.

Started a game as Chelsea today as I don't think I've ever played with them and their youth academy always seems to be great when playing as other clubs.

France is good, lots of teams with great academies, and even quite a few low league/non-league gems come through if you have excellent scouting.

What I found last time I was there though, was that after a year or two of making CL, PSG would come along and bid about 20-25m a pop for my players. Usually you could sell them a bunch of decent-ish players that aren't good enough for PSG, and be quids in to rebuild with better, cheaper players.

I just bought this and spent the last few hours trying to get it to work. No luck because "The steam servers are too busy to handle your request". I was able to run my other Steam games, including FM 14, but for some reason this won't. What fecking madness is this? Downloaded it again a dozen times, restarted the pc, restarted my fecking router, turned off the Windows firewall, fecked about with folder permissions and finally decided to uninstall Steam, at which point it merrily removed all my installed Steam games along with it, without any warning. Now I can't even run FM 14 anymore as it's giving me the same shitty error, and I'm still not any closer to running FM 16.

I'm at my wit's end here and about to go on a frenzy through the house. All I wanted was to fire up a save in FM 16 after work. Fecking hell, work was more enjoyable than this! I may even have to contact Steam customer services and I'm not sure I can handle that sort of hell right now. Feck my life!

Someone, please tell me you're having similar issues. Lie to me if you must, just to preserve my sanity.

FM lords, are there laptops under £500 that runs FM fast? I don't view the games in 3D, I just want the game to run fast with spending as little as possible on a new laptop.

Yeah I've had that before and it's hell. Contact steam support and they'll resolve it.

Is touch any good? Will the full FM version ever come out to iPad??

I'm having similar. Game gets stuck at the loading screen and I have to force quit. After I do that it, Steam tries to install something and says it was too busy to handle my request.

Look for one with 4gb of ram, should do the job fine unless you have loads of leagues open.

For 500 and under, you should be able to get something with 8gig of RAM and a fairly reasonable processor which should run it with ease.

For just over 500, I got a Lenovo laptop with 12gb ram and i7 2.8ghz processor and it smashes FM. It was great picking all those leagues to load and not seeing the CPU performance star-rating go down for a change.

Having a lot of leagues loaded is necessary if you want to have a broad scope for scouting.

You can just add one nation and then add players with national reputation in Europe to the database, it'll load about 30,000 players but won't be as slow.

Yeah I did contact them but also found a thread on indicating it was a wider issue. Someone from Valve said they were working on it and eventually they fixed it some time last night, so I managed to fire it up in the end. Frustrating though.

You're still having it right now? Because it should have been fixed yesterday.

Think I have my next long term proper save going right now.

Was looking for a club with good youth/training facilities, not too cash rich but comfortable and also not too good a team.

So I'm back on the full game now and I have started as RC Lens in the French second division. Superb youth facilities and state of the art training

So my expectation was top half not knowing anything about the team/league and also deciding to make minimal transfers my first season to get to assess all my squad.

The team quickly took to my tactic and went on a 18 game unbeaten run which took me to the top of the league and have been there since until I lost at Reims.

You can probably see in my screens below that there is a major lack of goals in the team, not sure how I find myself so close to the top with my top scorer on 9 goals after 24 games
TBF the defence have been great and I've had good luck with injuries in that department.

Here's my squad:

We had a fantastic run which has just been ended:

Will fill in more info later on things but really enjoying it and hopefully get promoted!

 You bought Thomas Drage. He played for my local team Tromsø for a many years. He was very good when he was very young, but has been immensely shit for the last couple of years. He is so fecking overrated on FM haha.

He's class

Great free transfer for me :)

Decided to create a club and play with them.

Created the kits myself, think they look great. We have 26 season ticket holders and we're predicted to finish bottom of the league.

We only have a capacity of 200 but our 26 season ticket holders are allowed to stand on the edge of the pitch for a more realistic match-going experience. The stadium is also owned by the council.

Unfortunately we are £15,000 in debt but our wages are currently twice as much as our budget so I'll work on cutting them down.

Our minimum expectation is 'to fight bravely against relegation' and our club motto is 'this is sparta'. I'll post updates to let you all know how I'm doing.

My philosophy in statistics.

This division (Greek C Division) is a bit ridiculous. There's 17 teams, the teams that finish from 10th - 17th all get relegated and only 1 team goes up.

I have been playing FM/CM for 10 years, but I have never struggled as much as I do with FM16. Which tactics/playstyles work the best?

I felt like that too until I took my tactical approach back to the absolute basics.

-------------Keeper-----------
FB(S)--CB(D)--CB(D)--FB(S)
-------DLP(S)---BWM(D)-----
--IF(S)------AM(S)-------IF(S)
--------------AF(A)-------------

I only use:
High Tempo
Prevent Short Distribution
Play Out Of Defence
Retain Possession
Short Passing
Whipped Crosses
Work Ball Into Box

That's my base tactic and will tweak things here and there until I see results.

Yeah :( What did you do that fixed it? Steam updated but it still gets stuck at the loading screen.

I play a 4-2-4 with Atleti, trying to do whatever formation Atleti play on the game when controlled by Simeone. It works, but I debated about the two midfield roles for some time. I chose a CM(D) and a CM(S) and it works well.

Sidenote: I took Cesc on loan in the second season and he's fecking shit. Dropped him to the under 19s. Was at fault for 3 goals in just the 5 games he played.

Just started a save with sc Heerenveen, they have a squad full of young talent(especially Luka Zahovic and Ruben Barbosa), looks like it should be fun.

Just need to decide between youth intake only, homegrown only, or just have at it...

I just deleted everything on my computer related to FM and it works again! :D

I lost my brilliant Derby save though :( Might start a new career in the Dutch league. I did a save with Feyenoord in FM15 and it was one of my favourites I've done.

The Dutch league is one I'm quite unfamiliar with, tbh, I played 2-3 seasons with Almere in FM15, but that's it.

I remember signing Britt Asombalonga and he absolutely tore up the league. Ended up selling him to Inter for 25m. Had loads of great talents there too.

He was a monster in 15! Still good now mind, but not what he was since he starts the season with his leg fecked up. :(
@Earthquake do you know where I can find the latest transfer update?
I usually use sortitoutsi for that kind of stuff.

This one's really sweet as you get up to date league positions, promotions, relegations and such, or can go back and pick any point in last season to start from.

You should have moved the save and put it back when you deleted everything.
