Gaming Football Manager 2016

YES !

Into the Scottish Championship with Annan Athletic.

Started out with Harrogate Town, was having a middling season with them and was getting tired of the lack of budget, then the board sold someone vital under my nose so I threw a tantrum and quit, got the job at Annan and have had back to back promotions. I can see this season being a struggle though.

Just logged onto Steam and noticed I have spent 802 hours playing FM16. For previous years on Steam it's:

FM14: 152 hours
FM11: 297 hours
FM10: 332 hours
FM09: 152 hours

Can someone make me feel better about those approximately 5 man-months of effort I've put into FM16 .

No

@Earthquake what were your defensive tactics? I'm conceding for fun. Last 2 matches I won 4-3.

If it makes you feel better maybe a lot of those hrs you had the game on whilst not playing? Doing other stuffs.

Should be a interesting season.

I put about 1200 hours into FM12 if that makes you feel any better

I've probably got many times that on FM08. There are no Steam stats, obviously, but I have a save that (I think) is in the hundreds of man days. Days, not hours.

Guessing out of thin air here - I got FM07 in my first year of University, and FM08 the year after - so 2007-ish. My first main save on FM08 was with Triestina until my laptop's hard disk got corrupted in my third year (I think?), but sadly I lost several in-game years due to old backups, so I started again. This is the hundreds of man days save - San Marino, starting in (real year) 2008-ish and ending in 2014-ish (I believe). In-game, the year is in the low-2100s and I started in the 2020s (holidaying to get rid of most of the real players).

I had to stop, unfortunately, because the save refuses to start beyond a certain point. I suspect there is a maximum size limit somewhere - maybe years, or file size, or something like that. It was actually quite saddening and I even stopped playing for several months because of that - but I did start a new San Marino game a few months ago.

I'll try and dig out screenshots if I have any as proof...

2009 - 199 hours
2010 - 954 hours
2011 - 1941 hours
2012 - 2207 hours
2013 - 1299 hours
2014 - 1692 hours
2015 - 1024 hours
2016 - 871 hours

That's a little bit over a year of my life spent on Football Manager. It's not all playing the game, I'd have left it running whilst I did other stuff, but still...

Just beat Chelsea 3-0 with a Ibra hat trick and then Liverpool 5-2 with 4 more goals from Zlatan.

Hope I'm not speaking too soon but things the team seems to have turned a corner, just when needed too really!

I'm looking for an interesting club/country to try a youth only challenge, this Nice save got kinda ruined when in the 3rd summer, PSG came along and bid 20m a pop for all my average players leaving me rich as feck.

Was hoping to find something in a lower but still decent country, and with a good youth recruitment, something like Crew Alexandra.

Mkhitaryan has failed to impress, 1 goal 2 assists in 23 games so far.

Isco is on the list for €34.5 Million and I've got a €36 Million bid from Lazio or Mkih too (I said €35 Mil 6 month ago)

Seriously tempted

Look for a club on here. I'm probably gonna do the same once I've finished my current save.

Some really interesting clubs there, maybe Ajax and try to do a LvG. Might be a bit of a cop out starting with one of a countries top clubs, though....

Celtic, Dundee Utd, Red Star(though I've read the Serb seasons are mental), are other similar ones I could try.

Lots of ones in France, but I've just been there and PSG annoy the feck out of me.

I could do a save with United, and in the first two seasons chuck everyone foreign(or not home grown at least), in the first two seasons, replace them with all English, and then just go with the youth intakes from there. Done something like that with Roma last year and it was fantastic.

Clarfontaine looks like it could be a cool idea IMO.

Clairefontaine isn't an actual club though, it's an academy that trains kids, IIRC, Henry came through there.

There's one in Australia called the FFA Centre Of Excellence(this one is fantastic for picking up great regens for free, but they usually fail work permits if that's an issue), too, and a few about Africa.

I've been playing 1860 Munchen, it's been a good laugh, I finally got to the promised land, won the German league and Champions League took 8 years but I did it, now to start my reign as the greatest team of all time...

annnnnd I've lost 4 of my starters to Barcelona and Real ... good times.

Clairefontaine is the FA national center, it's like St George's Park.

That consistently very high, and impressive - that does make me feel better about my paltry consumed hours. If you convert it to business hours - 8 hours a day, say a 20 day average month - you've put in over five man-years of effort :).

Had a interesting deadline day.

Splashed €66 Million on Saul, which is self explanatory and €5.5 Million on Tello for a bit of added depth/pace on the RW as I got rid of Willian. Couldn't go wrong for the money really.

January window incoming/outgoing was:

In:
Isco - €34.5 Million
Saul - €66 Million
Tello - €5.5 Million

Out:
Willian - €36 Million
Mkhitaryan - €36 Million

It's December in my third season with Derby.

First season I won the Championship. Second season the Prem and this year I'm second in December and in the knockouts of the CL.

I'm kind of angling for the England job as Koeman is there currently but wobbling. Would be great to take over for the 2018 WC. Italy already offered me a job but I turned it down. I was also interviewed to be the Barca boss but I wasn't successful.

My season (hopefully the only one) with Monaco is almost up. Playing Chelsea in the semis of CL and am 4 points ahead of PSG in the league, also in the cup final against PSG.

I intended this to be the only season in France before going to the PL so i went spastic in the transfer market (i've left my other teams in superb economic shape). Spent for about 450 million pounds hehe.

With such spending you can understand that we were never going to clear FFP. Well, wrong. Chairman has fetched 3 separate sponsorship deals with a "telecommunications company" for a combined income of 170 mill pounds

I can imagine your chairman tearing his hair out and frantically calling his lawyers as another email of you spunking your load reaches his inbox:D

I wish the developers would just write something more plausible rather than dancing around it:

"AS Monaco have signed a new one-year money laundering deal with a corrupt russian oil company."

Anyone played long enough to see how Gribbin turns out?

Getting rave reviews in the U21's.
