Gaming Football Manager 2015

Has anyone got Reus by triggering his release clause in the first window itself? I tried getting him with United but he didnt want to move since we dont have Champions League football.

Yep. This moaning thing is way too much. In September less than a month after the season starts, a player complains I havent started him enough.

Andy Carroll - "Why aren't you playing me?"

Because you're injured, maybe?

Silly game.

Signed him for Real at end of first season (even though he says he prefers not to play in Spain, which I found odd). You should be able to get him once you get CL, just be quick about it

Nah he signs a contract in the first window and as a result his release clause is gone.

Buying youth players in this game is a real drag. Playing as United, one of the philosophies the board demand that I adhere to is to develop youngsters and bring them into the senior squad but I'm really struggling. I was fine for the first few seasons with Januzaj, Shaw and Wilson and then Pereira and Michael Keane as squad options, but once they were integrated into the senior squad I ran out of players in my youth ranks to promote and play, because the regens my academy is producing are all absolute garbage.

I try to keep an eye on under-18 and under-21 tournaments for bright prospects, but whenever one comes up that I'd like to buy the selling club ask a ridiculous fee. There was a Ukrainian defensive midfielder playing for some mid-table Ukrainian club, never played a senior game for the club, seventeen years old - they wanted £29 million for him. A Portuguese left-back playing for Braga - £24 million. A seventeen year-old goalkeeper in Aston Villa's youth ranks, still on a youth contract, £31 million.

This doesn't remotely happen in real life. Just look at us with Januzaj, or Liverpool with Sterling, or Juventus (and us before that) with Pogba. Youth players do get sold, and it's usually for a couple of million, which is a massive fee for a sixteen year-old but it's pretty feckin' far from £25 million.

Does anyone have any tips? I mean, I can probaby just monitor these players, wait for them to develop and make it at their current clubs, and then pick them up for £25 million or so if they develop as my scouts suggest they should. But then I'm just buying ready-made players, and the board start throwing a shitfit because I'm not developing youngsters. It's bad enough them constantly moaning that I'm not matching the possession football philosophy I can't get rid of, even though before LvG that was never remotely in United's DNA.

One thing I found, was that once you know the other club's price, you can tap the player up (as descried above) to get them to lower it. Then when you've got the price down a bit, build a highly structured deal where lots of cash gets paid only after they play 50 games, 20 internationals etc.. They won't always accept it but some do. This mitigates against the player not living up to expectations, as if they don't play the matches you don't pay. Either that or keep tapping them up until their contracts are up for expiry and steal them.

I agree clubs don't give away youth players anymore, they seem very clued up on the true value of their players in this version.

Another tip is to link up with big clubs in Argentina, Brazil, Belgium etc so that when another big club makes a bid on the players, you can match it. I have teamed up with Cruzeiro and Boca and noticed big teams going in for players and getting decent deals (where I'm sure CPU would reject me) and got players that way.

Oh and scout the u20/u18 leagues Ongoing if you aren't already, the earlier you find these players the best shot you have at getting them. If you're just waiting for the tounies it might be too late.

Thanks! I'll give all that a try, but it seems a certain amount of ridiculous fee paying is just par for the course in this version.

Yeah pretty much. You can still get squad players for decent fees but future first teamers/world class players seem to be 'known' almost straight away

It's basically them saying feck off unless you come with daft money. I always ask for 200m for my key players to scare clubs off.

I picked up a world class mid from Pisa when he was 16 for 230k. The deals are there, just harder to find.

Also, when your chairman gives you a new contract, negotiate the terms regarding the philosophy. Got a shiny new 3 year contract by December of my first season. Managed to negotiate higher wages for team since I was fine with the current philosophy. Might be a bummer when I splash out on a top player when philosophy is bringing young players through.

Herrera is absolute gash in this game. Has anyone had any luck with him? He's been woeful for me. Playing him as a deep-lying playmaker on a support duty, next to a ball-winning midfielder also on support (Michael Bradley) with a trequartista and two wingers ahead of him (Mata, Di Maria and Januzaj / Valencia).

Sanchez is unsettled at Arsenal due to a lack of first team football. I'm considering making a move for him in January, but it seems to me that he's actually really under-rated in this game and not actually very good (hence Arsenal aren't playing him in the first place).
He's the most injury prone player I've had so far. Bought him at Real and used him at Arsenal and I don't think he played 30 games in both saves. When he did play he was shite.

Try having Andy Carroll, gets injured every other game and then moans about when you don't play him.

I think Mark Noble is the first player i have offered a new contract to and he comes into the talks wanting less wages than he is already on. I feel obliged to keep him for the rest of his career now.

Get that a lot with older players. Always happened with Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra last year :(

Whenever i praise my players they shit themselves and have a shocker in the next game. Adiran has been class in the last few games but now he's let in two goals which were easy saves.

I praised my player once, he wasn't happy about it. Stopped after that. Haven't had the need for it since then. Think you only need to if you have a prima donna that craves it.

"Cracking goal mate, well done!"

"I don't score my goals for you, you fecking cnut, get the hell off my case..... asshole, shit for a manager to come out with!" [slt]

Two wins against Liverpool in the league is sweet whoever you are. 1-0 up until Can scores in the 89th minute to make it 1-1. Carroll scores in 90+3 to make it 2-1.

Now, there was a certain satisfaction with ko'ing them the feck out of the CL quarter finals as Roma too, then next season getting them in your group and repeating it.

After my first year I managed to get the board at United to expand the stadium by 16k seats. It took nearly 2 years to complete.

On the day it finished I asked them to expand again on the basis I intend to bring success. They rejected saying they weren't prepared to spend money on future predictions.

I told them I would resign if they didn't fulfil my request and they agreed to expand.

So in 12 months time Old Trafford will be a few seats shy of 100k. :D

It's a struggle selling players. Can I just ask Woodie to handle outgoing transfers?

You can, but he'll make a balls up of it. I was really excited about the "getting the DoF to sell players for you" addition, because I thought it would make moving on unwanted players much less of a hassle, but it's actually kinda shit.

On a side note, this is my fixture list for the next month. Oh my goodness.

Ffs i was all set to sign Corchia for 7.5m and on 30k a week and then i get a transfer embargo which means the deal gets cancelled. Next time around Monaco also put in a bid and i can't compete with 70k wages. feck that.

It's a struggle if they don't want to leave and/or are on big wages. At least in this game, players that want to leave acknowledge that you're trying to sell them and don't get pissed off about still being there.

Why is FM making me in charge of when the players return from pre-season? Completely messed it up. Half my squad is tired come friendly nr. 3 and there's a week since I played the last game.

Question about training. 4 players are unhappy with the workload. Some of them don't have any extra training. I can't do anything about that can I?

Went my first season undefeated and won the league, fa cup and carling cup.
I did end up changing almost all of the squad as well. Take that Koeman & LvG!

Are Chelsea absolutely unstoppable in anyone else's game? They've made three Champions League finals in a row in mine, winning two of them.

Managed to win the league with PSV, signed Maher and Depay to long term deals, signed Ødegaard, Hachim Mastour, Rotario and a few others and I'm domination the dutch league now. Depay and Ødegaard are just tearing teams apart. I also beat Manchester United in both matches in the Champions league group stages. :)

Had to sell a few key players like De Jong, Narsingh, Willems and Wijnaldum since they wanted to leave for bigger clubs but I got around 40m from their sale which I invested in building a core to my squad.

Starting a new save. A pentagon challenge.

In the first transfer window Chelsea signed Xavi for 2.9m

How the feck do you increase morale? The same thing happened when I was with PSV. Im dominating and in first place but the morale is either good or less than that. Everyone has long term contracts and are happy with training levels as well. I got offered the Dortmund job and the same thing is happening here. I won the Super Cup and in tied first with Bayern after 12 games and still the morale is just not there. Mind the squad harmony is at an all time high.

Does signing a lot of new players in a window damage morale?
