Gaming Football Manager 2015

So I fancy a minnow country save. Bosnia, Latvia etc.

Someone decide for me
Bosnia of course! You'd actually have a chance to compete for things, or at least maybe getting past the group phases of tournaments and then needing a bit of luck further on. Plenty of quality players for a smaller country so you can actually play some good football.

Unbiased opinion there, naturally. ;)

So I plumped for Siroki Brijeg. This should be interesting
,Oh you meant club team? Completely different story then, Bosnias league is a bit fecked. You'll do well to even qualify for the europa league or champions league group phases really, not a lot of quality at all.

Siroki is generally one of the top teams in the league though, along with zeljeznicar (my team), and Sarajevo this year as they have a lot more money then everyone.

I have just noticed this as I've gone through the teams haha

I'll give it a bash anyway

Chose Forest and won 7 of my last 8 in the Championship, with all the wins accompanied with clean sheets. What a buy Ilsanker was off Red Bull Salzburg. Beast defensively and already scored two.

Finally started to threaten to win the title with Betis, and as a result I'm getting loads of bids for my best players in January. Obviously rejected them all, but my star striker who is probably the best in the game kicked up a fuss and wanted to leave to go to PSG. Managed to get 56m out of PSG, but I think I'll only get about 20m of that since my board are scabby pricks.

Also, I asked my board to sign me Jedvaj as a back-up for my CBs and RWB, and to my surprise they said ok. Eejits ended up spending 15m and 155k in wages on him, which was so annoying since the highest earner in my squad is on 100k. The day after he signed, I had three players looking for huge wage boosts. Gonna look to sell Jedvaj in the summer, presumably at a huge loss since those wages are ridiculous.

Edit: Luckily I realised I sold a potential star a few years back on the cheap, but lobbed a 10m buy-back in, so I picked him up. Dodged a bullet there. However, Arsenal have just now put in a 50m bid for my world class CB, which had to be accepted since it was his release clause. Now need to find a new ready-made CB.

So my bogey team is apparently Huddersfield. Comprehensively lost to them twice this season with one more fixture to go.

Finally got into League 2 with the mighty Gainsborough. Took 5 seasons to get from Conference South to where I am now. Stadium expansion being completed, and turned professional too!

I've went proper mental though, I released all my under 18s and under 21s on a free so I could afford the wages to bring in a few more players to the first team. It's very unrealistic that the board hasn't reacted to it in any way but since my youth academy is so terrible there's no drawback to what I just did. Hoping to survive this season, I actually had some interest from a young Athletico player who would have dominated League 2, but alas I couldn't afford him.

Need a new idea for a save.

Thinking of doing a 'minnow' international save, managing them (hopefully) into The Euros or World Cup, then resigning after it, and going into club football.

Or maybe doing a Scottish save (just a full database of just Scotland), and trying to get a lower league club onto, and beyond, Celtic's level.

Or maybe even an orthodox save of trying to do as much damage to as many clubs as possible before getting sacked.
For example: Start at Liverpool - sell a lot of their players and sign poor ones on huge deals that almost bankrupt the club. When I eventually get sacked - try the same elsewhere. And continue until (I assume) my reputation is too terrible for decent jobs.

My just do all three actually.
Anyone with some other ideas?

I done that with Chelsea in 14(with Unsackable), managed to concede over 550 goals with my special "runway" formation of five down one wing, and five down the other, spending 468m on 4 of Bradford City's reserves, and giving all their stars away for nothing.

What was weird was Bradford only spent 600k and might have got relegated....

Done it with City too, without being sackproof, they gave me a couple of months of abject failure, bafflingly, and the day after I was sacked, Bolton offered me a job....

The problem with doing long term saves, is if you switch clubs, it gets boring really quickly. Was at Forest for 5 or 6 seasons, went to Bayern and then basically stopped playing as the only players worth buying would be random regens. If you stay with a club you get a better understanding and all that of who and what you want.

Ended up starting a new united save after updating a few players' stats, and won the title first year by 1 point. Di maria, Mata, Falcao and Reus were all amazing. Plan on buying Balanta, Barbosa and Tielemans now when I get back home, putting my little shortlist here so I don't forget before other teams snap them up

So so true.

I found that in my last save. Decided to leave Oxford in 2024 (or something like that), and joined a Premier League team. You basically join a club with no identifiable players whatsoever and whenever you scout, it's just a sea of regens who you've paid no attention to (due to being in the lower leagues for so long), and who all look as good as each other.

Plus regens start to become way too good.

I think if I'm going to do a long term save, it'll be at one club because, like you say, you know what you're looking for and you know your team already. Joining a new team is okay in 2017 or 2018, when you already know who they have in the team. But when it's just random names, it's not much fun and you can barely identify where they need to strengthen.

But for my next few saves, I might play the matches out longer, and plan to retire/quit at about 2019/2020. Before the influx of regens.

Yeah, I might give that a go. Not sure whether to use the 'unsackable' add on or not though.
Will be too straight forward with it, I should imagine.

Yep. Regret leaving forest on that save but will see if one of the alternate files are from an earlier date. Its one of the things with football manager that they don't really do, talk about how other players in the world are doing.

They should have like a more expansive news section where you can filter it to look at news on promising youngsters, the best players, league specific or clubs. Not just the scouting, but generally which players are in form, notable moments and all that. Would give it more realism and more of a feel at how world football is going rather then you needing to go on each particular player screen.

Didn't realise the National side options were so limited. Expected some of the really 'small' footballing nations.

Made myself up as a 34 year old, ex semi-pro Italian, and gone for Slovakia (72nd in the World - one of the lowest of the available Europe nations) as I think they'll end up playing England a few times.

We'll see how it goes. I really wanted a lower ranked team, but maybe it'll be fun.
Not done a national side for a while.

If it's boring I'll quit and go for a club side again.

Edit: Great. We have Spain first up. A nice thrashing to start my reign.

Barnet save starting to get a bit tougher. Promoted to league one and the season hasn't started, but the competition for players is intense. I also have Martinez (the GK from Arsenal that came on against us) on a 1.5k pw contract, but he has no work permit and hasn't had one for almost a year. It keeps getting rejected and nobody else will buy him. I'll be able to reapply before the season starts, so fingers crossed.

I think you need the regions clubs active for a lot of nations. There has to be a certain amount of players for the national pool, but I can't remember how many.
Ah, okay. I'll try that then next time. I fancy a really low-ranked side with low expectations.
I can play a young side, and try to develop them into a decent side over about five or six years.

Just quit the Slovakia save. Already finding it boring.
Gonna give the game a break for a while. Had it for about two weeks, played it a lot, and a bit tired of it now after my mammoth Oxford, Boreham Wood save. No saves tickle my fancy right now.

He's free of the last defender...
The flag stays down...
He has acres of space...
He has to bury this...
There's only one outcome...

It's a corner!

I've only ever managed Ireland on the NT side, didn't much enjoy it, but I didn't/don't know much about the NT stuff, may try them again at some point.

I've not played in a few days, will be of it until I'm done with Omega Ruby.

De Gea decided he wants off to Real Madrid, and he won't take no for an answer. So, after securing the signing of Jeronimo Rulli from Real Sociedad, I let him go.

Not one day after signing, Rulli goes and breaks himself, presumably managing to stab himself with the pen he was using to sign his contract.

Dean Henderson better be good.

Is FM scripted like FIFA? After going on an unbeaten run in something like 20 games, I can now not even buy a win against shite opposition! Eurgh!

Seems like I constantly get given a tough run of fixtures every season. Just had A.C. Milan, Inter, Roma, and Juventus in a row with little break between them. Managed to come out of them in 3rd place so CL qualification is still definitely on. After losing Suso from loaning him last year I promoted David Ivan (young Slovakian) from my under 20s and he is just dominating at the moment.

Fancy playing your first team in the Capital One Cup. Poor show!

Trying to offload players who were exceptional for me in The Conference and even in League Two is hard work. Might struggle with squad numbers this year.

1 or 2 year deals at the most going up the leagues. Have to accept that you aren't going to sell most players on and just replenish through free players and loans.

Has anyone had any success retraining Coric as a CM?
Tried in my Forest save as I had a 4-3-3 formation without attacking mids, but it never really worked out. Way too weak, and nothing defensively going about him. Reminded me a bit of Mata stats wise, without the goalscoring, and strangely he's a poor passer which doesn't really tie in with the rest of his attributes.

Looks pretty good, despite needing the obvious development. I'd like a little more teamwork and workrate, even for a playmaker.

Can't see why he wouldn't work, I guess by the highlight, you plan on using him as an AP(a). I find it's a better role from the MC slot, sits 10-15 yards deeper and gets far more involved in the game.

Started an Ajax save, since I've only ever managed in England, La Liga, and as Celtic.

Thought I'd give them a shot and play in an Ajax style. Youth players, promote from within, sell off the talent at a certain point and rinse and repeat...all while trying to be successful.

So far things are looking good. 5 wins, 1 draw, 0 defeats. 20 goals scored, 1 conceded. Zivkovic leading the scoring charts, and 4 players averaging above 8.2 rating.

Quite liking this save so far.

Yeah, I want to have atleast one player who's played in all the divisions with me. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Barnet fans are shite. Two consecutive promotions and I still can't fill up The Hive which has about 5k seats.

Cheers, might give the MC role a crack
