Gaming Football Manager 2014

One of AVB's jobs when Mourinho's assistant was scouring the FM databases for information on potential targets and such. I'd assume the analytics departments at clubs he's managed himself would also use it. Probably Mourinho's teams still do, too.

Moyes also swears by it, apparently. Which makes a lot of sense as Fellaini is immense in FM......
Yeah, dont Everton have some kind of official partnership?

Edit: Yeah they do:

Having no luck with Baines in my Everton save, when he's fit and playing he's on fire.

1st season around January - 4-5 months out with knee tendonitis.
2nd season around January - 4-5 months out with a broken foot.

Finished 2nd season with Everton, United pipped me to the league by a point! Did win the domestic treble of Community Shield, FA Cup & League Cup.

Started a unemployed save, with fake players, ended up at ASSE(again) in October, in a relegation dogfight, I ended the season though, in a CL group spot, which would have been a qualifier, had PSG not won the CL. What was gutting though is, I effectively threw away the league, all I had to do was win my last two games, and my GK in the 2nd last, booted the ball right to their striker on a kick out. 1-1(so tempted to reload). Fecker is being sold this summer.

The fake players is interesting, it cancelled all loans(and co-ownerships) and randomizes the CA of young players somewhat(but not PA). I also had the first window locked. It was still ridiculously easy to pick out who was who though.

So far, between the winter, and the start of summer, I've added Oscar, Giovanni Simeone, Berardi, Stanciu, Pogba, Courtois and a lad who I believe is Abel Hernandez. Oscar was 1.5m listed, Courtois 1.6m, Pogba 8m, the rest all between 4 and 5.

I believe I have Dan Burn from Fulham too, but the fake player mechanism made him Swiss.....

Off to sell a bunch of rubbish, to fill out my defence and perhaps land Gabriel Barbosa.

He's fecking quality on this strangely.

Hardly played this as of late, been bored as feck of it. Started a game up earlier with Maribor though, just fancied summat different.

Start off in the 2nd round of CL qualifiers, beat Cliftonville 7-0 on aggregate so that was easy enough. Came up against APOEL in the 3rd round though so thought I'd be out as they're in better stead than me on paper, won 4-1 at home though which was a nice surprise and drew the away leg 1-1. Would've been happy getting this far as the money would have been decent enough anyway, got Ludogrets in the Play Off leg and thought I was fecked after I lost 1-0 at home, my best striker scored 2 inside the first 5 minutes in the away leg though and I went on to win 3-2 on aggregate so the £7.5m I get from qualifying for the group stages will be great for my finances, especially considering my highest earner is on £800 a week.

Got drawn with Atletico, Schalke & Ajax though so I'm not expecting too much! 2 points clear at the top of the league too so hopefully I can hold onto that, the midweek CL games will feck my squad though.

fecking game is a cheat, how can I have about four corners going into the stands for a goal kick and they have 100% in the box ffs. No other fm game had this probe, and i can't even get my team to have a normal defensive line either.

aaaaand I've just lost my best and only decent striker for 3 months. Wonderful.

I'm getting kinda pissed off with this World League save, I need to have 4 Homegrown players in the squad, 1 on the pitch, I set league records in everything last year and got promoted in early march, only lost the cup cause I had 4 injured strikers and my backline went to sleep for some reason, half my team wants to move to a bigger club including all my homegrown players and all my staff refuse to sign new contracts.

It's mostly a bug caused by the fact we are technically in the 16th tier of football but there are some good sides around me damn it.

I don't mind rebuilding the squad, but doing it on a yearly basis, if my 1 HG first teamer gets injured I'm down to playing 15 year olds that are also shit.

Finished my first season at Maribor, went as well as it could have really.

League wasn't as easy as it looks and I only really started pulling away in the last month or two of the season, Domzale were level on points or ahead of me at the start for a fair bit. Cups were easy enough though, was missing 5 of my first teamers for the final of the Hervis Pokal final and it was still 0-0 at half time so was a bit wary, HT team talk seemed to do enough though.

Finished 4th in my CL group which was expected, managed to nick a draw away to Atleti which was a pretty good result though, should have really won the game. A shame overall though as I was a few minutes away from beating Ajax in the final game which would've sent me into the Europa but they went and fecking equalized so I finished bottom on 3 points.

The money I got from qualifying for the CL helped me massively, made about an £11m profit this year which is great for a club this size. I was given £9m to spend for the upcoming season to my surprise, 60k in wages spare too. Not bad for a club whose record transfer in their history is about £200k & my current highest earner gets 800 quid a week! Don't really plan on spending too much as my squad's good enough to piss the league again but there's no real chance of me competing in Europe any time soon so I'll probably just look for some released bargains and save the cash till I improve a bit more, have a right back coming back from a loan who'll go into my first team and I'm gonna try and make Brandon Deville's loan permanent who I got on loan from Ajaccio in January, scored 16 goals in 16 starts and got about 10 assists too, not bad for a right winger. Could do with a young keeper though as although mines great, he's about 35 now so probably only get away with him being my first choice for one more season. Got some good young players in the squad aswell who will only get better, 3 of my best 5/6 players were a 16, 17 & 18 year old.

Struggling to find a save to get interested in. That fake player one was far too exploitable. Switched to an unemployed classic save, ended up with Southampton in Dec. 19th in the league. Popped them up to 9th, sold a bunch, brought in a bunch, yawn....

Maybe try Portugal, never played there, or Sweden, or Finland, or something....

I got the Porto job in my current save. Benfica challenged me for the title one season out of the three I was there. It was pretty easy. Didn't need to buy too many players either. Got them to the Champions League semi final my last year before I got offered the Dortmund job.

Figured i'd give another save a whirl with Arsenal. Always enjoyed trying to take them back to the top. Made a couple of signings in Balanta, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Lucas Romero.

Setting up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, 6 wins out of 6 so far in the PL, including a 3-0 away to Chelsea. Might actually stick with a save for a while this time.

Enjoying my Southampton save now. Finished 8th in my first season, 3rd in my second and I'm now 10 points clear at the top in my third season in January. Also managed to finish top of my CL group, where Real only finished 3rd (having won the CL the last two years). Ramirez, Shaw, Clyne and Ward-Prowse are all brilliant in the game. Managed to get Jovetic off City who has been banging them in for me. Sold Wanyama to Real for £30m and got Diego Reyes (who I think is better) off Porto for £25m which was good business.

Current first XI:
Koval
Clyne -------- Lovren - Balanta ---------- Shaw
Ward-Prowse - Reyes - Cork/Cleverley
Ramirez
Lambert - Jovetic

Tbf, Cleverley is quite good in the game.

I'm currently with Real Sporting(stared unemployed). Picked up a few Barca/Real rejects for 60-80k a pop, Adam Vass for 120k, Dedrick Boyata for 180k, spent a fair whack(about 1.4m) on Javi Espinosa. Got them handily promoted. About to start the summer 2014 window, vast upgrades needed, they've given me 1.5m.

Feck.

Star striker out the door I think, probably get 4-5m, and my goalkeeper for 1-2m.

Argh I fecking hate it. I usually save once per ingame week because older FM games crashed on me a lot. Now FM13 and 14 almost never crashed on me so I thought, well let's just go with saving so much and what happens? I go almost 2 months without saving of course FM14 crashes. Aaaarrrrrgggh.

Well I'm done. Couldn't have wished for a better way to end my 10th season with St. Pauli.

How do they say? You should finish while you are at the top and I think that's what I'm doing here. I'm leaving and going to pick up a job abroad but I guess no matter where I go in international competitions I will live in fear of the machine I created myself.

Next station for me is probably the PL would be great to get a job at Manchester United, they haven't won much over the last 10 years and rebuilding them will definitely be a challenge albeit I guess they will have a good amount of money as in 2023 the debt is most likely payed off.

Btw that was City's 8th CL final in 10 years and they only won two of them.

Manchester United btw has only won one league title in those 10 years my current save game is going. 3 FA cups though but nothing else. That makes 4 lousy trophies in 10 years since SAF retired. :(

I have been approached by Real Madrid. I am stuck between getting Southampton to win the Champions League and develop this potentially world class winger for two years, or become a galactico. I think I'll make two seperate saves and see what happens to both! I'm glad they did approach me because I just retained the league and won the FA Cup and League cup. So hard to choose!

So I finally won serie a after 12 seasons at Torino. Was a real slog.

More importantly though after 16 years in total, Liverpool never won the leauge, David moyes did fantastic at United for 8 years and went on to win the champions leauge then moved to bayern and won just about everything there too.

Finally, and most importantly, Rooney is long time manager and fan favourite at..... Millwall.

Got him on a free and he's been pretty good for me. Good squad player to have.

I'm 15 points clear now, Ramirez has been incredible as a Treq. Has 21 assists and 15 goals in around 35 games for me.

Unfortunately it's on my laptop which is at work so I can't post it.

He has pretty good all round stats, IMO, nothing spectacular, but can come in and do a job on most any midfield role. Pretty great mental stats too, IIRC.

Ramirez is insane in this, insane.

Does anyone have a good transfer update? Think i'm going to start a game as West Ham.

Found one and i'm now in charge of the Hammers. Caught Big Sam disease within 5 minutes...seriously considering Hugo Almeida as cheap cover for Carroll. This update has Enner Valencia as a winger still.

EDIT: FFS. Atletico enquired for Diame, i said 15m thinking they'd flatly reject but they accepted it. Hm, greedy me decides to offer him to them for 20m. Up pops a news item with 'Atletico make a bid'. Oh my god...they actually bid that? No. Diame has a 3.5m release clause that i didn't know about. So i stupidly could have had 15m and my own greed has meant i am losing him for 3.5m.

I've started terribly. Lost three and won one from my first 4 PL games. Has anyone tried to make Stoke/West Ham play decent before? I seem to only play well when Carlton Cole and Kevin Nolan play unfortunately.

For example, i beat Fleetwood 7-0 in the League Cup with Cole scoring 5.

I try to make teams like them play as dirty, and as long ball as possible. Yet to get it going proper good.

Woody?

I'd have sold him for 2.5m in that case!

Nearly had my best result against City. 3-2 up and concede a penalty in the last minute which they obviously convert to make it 3-3. Gutted.

First season, no signings, managed to get Crystal Palace up to 5th in the league, qualified for the EURO cup. Even stranger than that...Everton came 1st (@SilentWitness should be happy), Newcastle came 3rd.

Not much cash to reinforce the squad, signed Gauld and Huth, hoping my squad will hold up to the league and Euro challenge.

Starting a new save with Auxerre in Ligue 2. Supposed to be one of the better regen clubs so the goal is to develop players from my academy.

I'm famous!

Came 8th with West Ham, Carroll was 2nd top scorer in the league. United won it and Everton won the Europa League. Zarate was probably my best player as an Inside Forward on the left wing. Only have a 10m budget this season so i'll have to be crafty with it, might actually jump ship if there is a decent job available.

You'll have Cresswell if you're on an update right? How's he done for you? Don't think his PA's that hight but be always seems to be amazing in my saves wherever he ends up.

He was decent for me, nothing more. Average rating of 6.90. Had 4 assists and was better defensively than going forward as he had a decent tackles per game ratio compared to other LBs in the league. Still improving though as he's quite young so hopefully he'll have a better season and i'll decide whether to upgrade or not after!

West Ham turned me into a wheeler dealer. Added thanks to Redknapp who bought Downing and Collins from me, he's exactly like he is in real life.
