Gaming Football Manager 2014

Was thinking this the other day, but the huge change we had this summer with the big clear out and splashing the cash is pretty much the first thing I always do in my united saves, the same players position wise too.
The only problem is fm 2015 will probably be easy as feck with united.

Buy Balanta, win everything.

Probably Odegaard too...

True. Usually I spend big first summer and then from there on just bed in youngsters, will probably do that with januzaj, Wilson, pereira and everyone else.
Yup, one big splash summer, then youngsters, and buying any top prospects that crop up.

In 2015/16 with Dortmund, my 20/21 team is going to be ridiculous. :D

Currently waiting for 15 to come out. But I'm up to 2035 in my current save. Got FC United up to the premier league in about 12 seasons. Highest I could get them was a 8th place finish.

I was then offered the Barcelona job which I took. Signed myself a striker and bought my right wingers with me from FC( an Irishman from the academy) who won just about every individual award possible during my Barca time. Ended up leaving the job after 5 years. It included 5 league titles but no champions league was eliminated by either Munich or a Spurs every season lol

Currently in my third season with Notts County managed a 2nd and 3rd place so far. Currently sitting top after 10 games.

Started a new save with the updated United squad. Brought in Clasie and that's about it. Makes a nice change from having to buy loads of players.

Won the CL in my second year with southampton, asked the board that I wanted to change the philosophies and got " you arent doing a good enough job to ask that". Bunch of ungrateful twats.

He's not on the official game, but he's definitely on LFC Marshall's transfer update.

Man Utd have become a shite team, finished 14th in the latest season. Massive rebuild job, should be fun to return them to glory. Predicted finish of 8th.

Also, they now have an expectation of making the most of set pieces, ewwww.

Scottish Premier League

2022-23 season. One game left of the german league, and I'm in pole position. I (Bor. Mönchengladbach) have 73 points, Bayern München have 72, Dortmund have 71. I have a slightly better goal difference than both the other teams. For some reason, all the games of the last round are not played on the same day, so it's me and Bayern on the saturday, and Dortmund on the sunday.

I struggle to break through the Wolfburg defense all game long, before being caught on the break, and losing the game 0-1. The last update I'd spotted from the Bayern game had them 2-0 up. I come to the result screen and they've tied they're game 2-2. Yes! Looks like I might be winning the league after all. I have the same goal difference as Bayern München, but I've scored more goals so I'm in front.

Then comes the sunday, and Dortmund wins 4-0... leaving me with this table.

Heartbreak aside, it's been really fun so far, the league is incredibly competitive, always with exciting run-ins to the season.

Argh, so close! 2013/2014 season with Hull.

Used a formation I used in a previous save that was very good in that save but I didn't know if that was cause I was playing with Barca and United.

I had to play the last 6 games of the season with 12 senior players, and lost 4 and drew 1 of those 6. Star striker(Sagbo , ended up top scorer too) was injured for the last 8 odd games too, and I had no backup striker so had to play Snodgrass there. The game started to loan out some of my players while I holidayed, which didnt help at all. Bit of a pain that.

That Man Utd save was way too easy, had a world class squad within weeks....

So I started with Bradford City, and fake players. Good results, in August, but both my RBs, and my one CB accomplished at RB are out for a month. One of my two RB's for 5. No money, 2k over my wage budget.

Feck.

Mate would you mind uploading that tactic somewhere please? I'm inclined to reinstall FM and use it as a timekill till Fifa comes out but I can't be arsed to cook up a half decent tactic, and yours is a system I've never tried.

Yeah no bother, I'll try upload it to a Dropbox when I get on my laptop.

Has anyone ever had CMs with above 7.0 average rating throughout the season?

Rarely, always been the case in FM games though. Diego Reyes regularly had 90-100 passes and 90% completion for me, loads of tackles and interceptions yet defaults to 6.90.

Unless they get an assist or goal they never go above 7, bit silly.

I have, usually AP(a)'s from CM in a 4-1-2-2-1/4-3-3 who score regularly. Rarely have a DM get more than 6.6, despite playing really well.
It's ridiculous that they need to score a goal to get over 7.

Last season Januzaj tore the league to shreds with 15 goals and assists in 32 games, on top of 5 goals and 3 assists in cup competitions, and 2 goals and assists in Europe, average rating of 7.76, still not nominated for Balon Dor.

the ratings systems are unbelievably bugged, like for years it's been the case that ratings in foreign leagues are way higher despite the players not having the same output. One season Gaston Ramirez had 22 goals and 25 assists for me and his average was 7.31, yet Messi had like 15 goals and 10 assists and his average was 8.04. Bonkers.

Did you set any player specific instructions? Who did you pair with him in midfield?

I have him keeping it relatively simple, he's been next to Herrera who's been playing as a DLP. Unfortunately he's been really injury prone.

How far down the English leagues are the players real? My brother just moved to England and wants to know what league he has to play in to get in the game.

I have mates at Sheffield FC who are in the game and they're in the division 2(?) tiers below Conference North/South, not sure how much further it goes after that.

That tempts me to buy FM 2011 (my favourite one - because it was simple, despite not having some of the good new features) and holiday 30 years and start playing. By then the fact that players aren't up to date obviously wont matter any more.

Not sure whether I should just get the new one when it comes out though...

If you're playing as a team thats expecting to win most games, I'd probably change the mentality to control. Also, if you find improvements dont forget to tell me!

Of course! Thanks. Do you use any specific OI's/match preparation, let the assistant manager do it, or not bother?

Again, cheers pal!

Nah, I dont bother with OIs or match preparation to be honest.

No bother.

So the opposition GK kicked the ball into his own defender and scored an own goal.
