Jesus, you must be running some tactics!

A well-oiled 4-3-3 that I adapted from wwfan on the SI forums. It's originally set up for counter, but even that left me open, so I've been operating at a "defensive" setting for the last season and a half. I just cant afford anyone better atmo.

Attacking WB's on either side, a HB that drops into defense to cover. AP and DLP in the MCL and MCR roles. an AF (Tankulic or Abramov) is flanked by two IF's (Rabiega is a gun)

Ahhhhhhh! My third season in the premiership, what a glorious year for Bradford Park Avenue.
Won the league, spent 3/4 of the season hanging in fifth, but towards the end City, United Arsenal and Chelsea all started dropping off. Sealed the league in the 37th week, beating Liverpool(15th lol). I only lost a single game in the end, but I dropped a lot of points early on.
Won the FA Cup for the 2nd year running, beating Sheffield United, a championship side(they'll be in the PL next season), handily.
Won the League Cup, battering Arsenal 4-1.
Finally, won the Champions League, in my 2nd year in it, beating Man City 2-0(playing a Defensive mentality ;)), the semis had 3 English sides, Bradford, Man Utd, Man City and the only foreign side, Bayern, who I smashed 5-1 over the two legs, (again with a Defensive mentality :D).

Next month I move into my new stadium, and have 10-12 prospects on the way in, but I've completed everything I wanted to with this save. Might continue a bit though.

So August was a good month. Despite losing 2-1 away to Osnabruck, I managed to record 3 successive 4-1 victories against Duisburg (H), Ingolstadt (A - after going behind in the 5th minute) and Heidenheim (A).

Am currently sitting 1st on GD, with six over Karlsruhe in 2nd place.

Just finished September. Some story as august. One loss (away to Munster) being the one major downside.

Got a late equaliser at Grossaspach in the "top of the table" clash. Finished the month with a trip to Stuttgarter Kickers. Rabierga comes off the bench to bad the winner in the 75th minute. Brilliant.

Am currently sitting 2nd now. One point behind Grossaspach and one point ahead of Wehen in 3rd

Im thinking of starting a new save.
Any ideas of who to start with?
My previous save was Southampton and ended up dominating Europe.

Anyone had any success with Sheff Wednesday?

Do a save in Germany :wenger:

There's a edt file, or a group of them, called "Risultati Reali" which has exact fixtures for 13/14, plus build on selected league structures. That's where I was able to start from the Oberliga

Marino and Bradford PA... you're both bad influences guys... I really don't want to start hammering a lower league save whilst the weather is so nice... but I can't help but want to leave work now and stick it on. Damn you!

Lower league saves are so satisfying. Do it!

It's been a while, Vauxhall Motors in FM 2010 dominating the world.

I've always found that once you get into League 2 and build a very good team the momentum carries you up pretty much to the Championship with just a couple more additions each summer.

What formations were you guys using in the early lower league years?

Signed King Arturo on my Gateshead save :). He's 34 now though and can't even get in my team at the moment.

January 2020

Now, it's the 2nd silver lining, that's the major one. The bones of 5m has pushed me incredibly safe from FFP, and left me with a relatively massive transfer budget. Now there was a player, who I have been watching at Shakhtar for years, more in a dreamy googly eyes way, as I didn't think there was any chance of getting such a player(I have a few players like this in my shortlist like Januzaj). A player for a position I was severely underwhelming, and knew I needed upgrading if I stay the course and make the Premiership. A goalkeeper, one of immense quality, and even more potential!

Wouldn't you know, his contract was up in six months, came up in my inbox the day after Pereira was listed. Now, I clicked, expecting a red [not interested] box, but he was willing for me throw an offer at him, but I didn't, as a lot of much, much bigger clubs wanted him on a free, ntably moneybags PSG. I used my new windfall and splurged on an instant transfer bid(surprised no other club followed suit...). Despite his availability, I spaffed the most Bradford have ever on a player, probably as much as every other player in the last 7 years combined, 3m(valued at 2.3), albeit it only cuts 1.1m from this seasons budget because of clauses.

I posted about this keeper a few months back, that I picked up for this save in Jan 2020, before drifting off to other stuff.

Summer 2023, and this is how he looks.

Best in the world.

Scary thing is, he still has room to grow..... been telling Madrid to feck off for two years now, glad he's not forcing the issue.

Once I hit League One, it was straight promotions, and a 3rd finish in the first shot at the Prem.

I began with 4-2-2-2/4-4-2, but after a season or two settled into a 5-3-2, which became a 5-2-1-2 similar to Van Gaal's Netherlands team(coincidentally, I was doing that save well before the World Cup), now I'm playing 4-1-2-2-1/4-3-3, but I keep a diamond, and the 5-2-1-2(tweaked for defence) trained too, that 5-2-1-2 has become my big game setup for playing top teams.

What did you choose?

Tried the Steam FC challenge with the Modern Day legends and can't get any of them to sign for me. They've only just signed for their teams. Gonna give it a miss and just load a new save and spend loads on wonderkids of the present.

Haven't got into a career save on FM 14 so doing something different. An Emulation game.

Currently doing an Emulating Sir Bobby Robson save. At Fulham and struggling but he was there for only 11 months so I don't foresee a long stay here. Should be fun building a competitive Ipswich, managing England, abroad and Newcastle who have fantastic youth and potential.

Fergie, Clough, Capello, Van Gaal, Hitzfeld, Mourinho hopefully too but this probably will correlate over to FM 15.

Not doing Shankley and Paisley out of principle.

My La Hoya Lorca save is going well, the club have turned professional, and currently sitting in 14th position in Liga Adelante after 27 games. I'm relying on loan signings at the moment because of the lack of budget, but my new owner seems to have a bit of cash. However, my scouts are rubbish so I don't really want to take a risk signing anybody permanently. I'm thinking another season of loan signings, maybe with a free signing on two to bolster the squad, and I've got a good chance of reaching the top flight. Of course, if I get there then I expect to be quickly relegated, there's no way this club can compete with any of the teams financially, but the money from one season in BBVA will do wonders for the club and hopefully we can bounce right back.

So essentially, I'm planning my promotion to the league I'll have been relegated from the season after next

That's thinking ahead of the game.

I decided to tackle the lack of good fullbacks option, I had a mighty DM in my U-21s, with good enough crossing for a fullback, and he's fast, surprisingly enough, just finished the Shield, one week from the first game, and he's already yellow at RB. I have many good DMs, fwiw.

Yep. Been relegated with Fulham, and sacked immediately.

Truly emulating Sir Bobby. Onwards and upwards, waiting for that Ipswich job now.

Right, so end of 2017/18 and I finish third in the league and lose the playoff to Paderborn. Feck.

No matter, released a whole hoard of list-cloggers and promoted youth en masse. Predicted to finish 8th, but we'll show them ;)

Did enjoy this though against Cottbus, especially the first goal from Tankulic to make it 1-1

Shocking times in International football. Euro 2016 final was contested between Germany and England, Germany winning 2-0. (England go there by winning 3 penalty shootouts ) However the strange thing is, for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Germany finished third behind France and Serbia. England lost in a playoff (4-0) to Turkey. Both Germany and England will miss out! England are managed by Ole Gunner Solskjear (recently sacked from Liverpool!).. Germany by Thomas Schaaf.

Writing was probably on the wall for Germany, as a year earlier they finished behind Qatar and Argentina in their Confed group. Its the real German players as well, not the greyed out nonsense.

And as for my Roma side.. my CL group is going quite well.

I'm trotting on in the league, a few points behind, but due to so many competition obligations, I have 4 games in hand, I think I'll pack in for a while after this season though and make another attempt at a Stoke game, or try that Crewe youth factory one.

On a fun note, between league and cup, in 4 days Man Utd racked up an agg score of 15-1 against Liverpool, leading to their manager Mancini getting sacked. Despite only having won a Capital One Cup in his 3 years with United, Simeone has them always in contention, and playing some devastating football. Their leading goalscorer is racking up almost a goal a game. 34 in 35.

Also, its February, and my DM who was completely unfamiliar with the role is already a natural RB, a 20 year old, world class, natural RB. I must make more effort to do these conversion jobs if I see a better role for players.

I'm trying to make a 3-4-1-2 work like the way van Gaal sets it up but I'm finding it very hard for the box to box midfielder not to occupy the same space as the false 9 being one of the 2 forwards, and Mata being my advanced playmaker. Any tips?

That's one of the main formations I've been using on this save, for months in real life, and a decade in game time. Lately I prefer the usual 4-1-2-2-1/4-3-3, but the 3-4-1-2(or 5-2-1-2 as I line it up in the tactic screen), is still the "big game" setup.

I'd suggest swapping the box to box for a CM(a), he'll preform a similar role, but will get into the box a tad later, so shouldn't get in the way of the forwards. He'll also score more, in my experience. I also prefer the DLF role, but that's mainly because I don't like my strikers taking long shots so often like a false 9(in game) does.

FWIW, I find the FM false 9 acts nothing like the role does in real life, if that's what you're after, I'd suggest a Trequartista, though I can't remember if they need some instruction modifications.

Anyone else tried the Steam FC Challenge?

3rd season in, and I'm sitting in League 2. Just noticed that my board are in the process of building a new stadium.

Would be mind-boggling if they expand upon capacity. Steam Arena atm can house 200000 people
