Gaming Football Manager 2014

Fuuuuuuck! What a season. Four of my first team are transfer listed by request, three because of that baffling underachieving thing. Two more had talks with me, but I convinced them.

In the end, I missed a playoff spot by a single point.

Next year is going to be rock hard, as I'll loose two key players that I had on loan, one from Arsenal who's an absolute beast at this level.
Heavily tempted to bend my no transfer rule, not buying or loaning players, but extending the loans of the current crop......

Yup, struggling now, treading water in the league just about making my target, go on winning runs, then loosing ones. Barely scraped together squad, don't have the players for my formation, don't have the players to switch formations.

Fancy doing a Soton save trying to build a decent squad with all the money from sales. I'd just put 50% of the total sales into the budget and build a team.

This sounded like fun. I've started doing it. I've also assumed that Schneiderlin and Rodriguez are gone too, even though the news today says otherwise. I've put an inflated bid in for about 40 players. I'm just going to spend silly money, for lols.

I tried a bid for Pogba. £25million. Juve came back and wanted £156million. I've got up to £26.5million. I'll see what they come back with.

Yup seems a decent idea. My first buy was Nicolai Muller for 8.5 Million. Thought of him as Lallana's replacement. Unfortunately got disturbed and had to come off then but will probably continue tomorrow.

Hmm, 2nd intake, still no AMC. Perhaps time to think of a new main formation. Feck.

That lad on top, instantly my 2nd choice RB. Which bodes well for next season as promotion looks a real possibility.

Gonna get mauled in the Championship....... Don't have enough CB's(working on retraining a DM) to build a defensive team that'll hold on until better youths come through, and grow.

For some reason the board have chosen Wigan as a parent club. Makes no odds, as I won't ask them for players. Though, I think it'd be fine to accept ones if they drop them into my squad.

So transfer time! I feel like Atletico Madrid only with stronger bargaining power!

Bearing in mind this is the year 2022, so these players are old or regens:

Out:

Gabriel Tore - waiting for club
Morgan Schniederlin - waiting for club
Victor Wanyama - waiting for club
Will Buckingham - loan (regen)
Kyle Walker - free
Ryan Shawcross - free
Sam Gallagher (left in january, still counts) roughly 5 million
Numerous regen youth players.

In (so far):

Diego Costa free
Babatunde James (regen) £13.25 mil

Will post updates, I'm promoting some youth and trying to get my two young first team wingers on loan because the squad is a bit congested at the mo.

Well, this season had a baffling finish, 3rd, away to Brentford who were 2nd, without my goalkeeper or key midfielder(who 3 days before picked up a 3 month injury), potential to finish anywhere between 1st and 7th.

Brentford the cnuts had Dwight Gayle, and Doncaster had Peter Crouch.... Way too fecking good for this level.

That youngin' from the first intake was my leading scorer, with 18 goals. Now, I definitely have to change formation and tactic, as the guy gone for 3 months was my one capable AM... I think 5-3-2 will become the order of the day, converting a midfielder for coverage. Maybe 4-1-3-2 as well, been trying 4-4-2, don't like it. 4-1-4-1 has been handy at points.

So, end of 1st season and I won the league quite comfortably with three games in hand. Partizan ended up in 4th :D

Got bids on my players coming in from all angles. Had to sell Nemanja Jaksic to PSV for 2.5m as he was kicking up a stink. Got him back on loan for a season so its all good there.

The relegation playoff was bonkers. Javor v Bezanija (2nd division). Javor won the 1st leg 7-3, but lost the second leg 4-1, only going through with an extra time winner

Nice one, what formation did you end up favouring Flying Fox?

My HOYD retired, massive blow. Couldn't replace him with equal quality. Picked up a fellow who will hopefully do the business short term.

Has anyone signed Pogba on the game before? I took the Bayern job in 2018 and Kroos wanted to leave, I was happy to let him go provided I signed Pogba. My transfer budget was £120m. I bid £120m to Juve, straight up in cash and they fecking turned it down, want to go in again this summer but not sure how I can lure him. Virtually impossible last season.

I did an unbeaten season! (kind of..) with Roma

Unbeaten in the league.
Unbeaten in the CL, didn't lose a game and only drew two. Knocked out Man Utd, Barcelona, Arsenal and beat Bayern in the final 2-1. Marquinhos (who signed back in the summer) 92nd minute header from a corner.
Lost the Coppa Italia 10-9 on pens to Juventus.. I'll still claim that as a draw. Lloris saved Victor Valdes's pen and then banged in the winner. :(

Random Man Utd stuff:
Carlo Ancelotti is the manager, has a CL and FA Cup to his name
Rooney is stinking up the place at Lazio.
Will Keane is at tycoon owned Livorno, not getting a game.
I have Kagawa, but will most likely be gone next summer.
Angelo Henriquez moved to Bayern for £25m and has played 2 games..
RVP ended his career at Feyenoord
Januzaj won the 2018 WC with Belgium
Man Utd raided Real Madrid for Marcelo, Illramendi and oddly Sakho who left Liverpool the year before.
Kasper Schmeichel is back up goalkeeper.
Welbeck and Schurrle lead the line.

I'm in 2018 and Moyes released Rooney. He's not had a club for 6 months.

Used to be you'd get him for 32m in the first season.

Well, my first Championship season was going well, very much middle of the table with Crewe, with zero signings, better progress than I could have imagined. Massive blow though, my one somewhat capable goalkeeper(the intakes were unkind for keepers), Ben Garratt, well, he upped and broke his ankle.

My next best keeper is bang average for League 2. Coupled with a collection of CB's that are just too damn short for the job, I foresee plenty of goals shipped in the near future, and a previously very secure job in trouble.

Decided to start off with Sunday League Footballer reputation and manage the team predicted to finish bottom of the Gibraltan second division. Spent ages sorting the squad out by just signing all the regens it gave me on amateur contracts, then using my one half decent regen coach to decide if they were good enough. Eventually whittled the squad down to 23 players and left 100 or so in the reserves playing no football whatsoever. Set an uber-defensive, counter-attacking 4-1-3-1-1 up and managed to win the division by a point, but did get spanked in the cups. Got promoted, cleared out the shite reserves, hired a better coach for judging ability and have expanded my squad to 35 players + exactly 100 reserves. I'm somehow second favourites for the premier division despite it being my first season there, and my team appearing to be the B side of the best team there. We both have the same crests, except ours is fully coloured and theirs is just red and white. We also have to play a pre-season friendly with them every year. Beat Man Utd Gibraltar 4-0 in my first premier league game so good start to the season.

Moyes got sacked by United in February 2014 and was replaced by Spalletti. He took them to the CL final but they got beat 2-1 by Porto, letting in 2 goals in the last 15 minutes. They escaped a group with AC Milan, Zenit and Celtic, then beat Barca, City and Arsenal to reach the CL final, then lost to fecking Porto. They ended up finishing 7th in the PL but managed to scrape Europa qualification so they're now playing such European giants as Zrinjski, Brondby and Utrecht. Somehow ended up in a group with Hoffenheim and Dynamo Kiev though. Hoping I get offered the job at some point.

It's kind of realistic in the sense that if the club doesn't want to sell, they won't. But next year you might see him leave for 30-40m.

Btw Lucas Romero is better.

He just signed a new contract now. It doesn't really matter anyway, in all honesty my squad is already overloaded with too many quality players. I sold my back up striker who score 3 goals in last season for £50m to City

So weird. My club, Fulham, gets taken over by a consortium and I can't adjust my budget to increase my transfer budget despite having a wage budget of 4,722,760 with current wages being 1,963,008.

Have you got an active transfer ongoing? Sometimes won't let you move it around when negotiating a transfer, should be ok once it's completed/rejected.

Mentioned it before a while ago - but anyone who has FM14 on Steam, I would recommend trying the Steam FC mod (from the workshop).

It basically starts you as a fresh new club with very little reputation, no staff, no players.

You are given £800m and an enormous wage budget, and the expectation is to win basically everything. The challenge is that a lot of players and staff wont join due to reputation, and at the start of the season your team will be absolute shite as there is no harmony/teamwork, being a brand new side.

So, with my Red Star game, second season, get back this young Peruvian defender who was out on loan last season. 4.5* rated. Plays all of 5 games for me and I manage to flog him to Anderlecht for 7m (valued at 500k) :D One step closer to being debt free

Nope, it's just that I can't reduce my wage limit beyond about 2.2 times my current wage spending, which is really odd.

Say I'm going to quit this Crewe save, relying on the youth intakes completely isn't a great deal of fun. I mean, I'm doing well enough, but to get a properly quality squad, it's take 7-12 seasons of intakes. As is, I'm short 4, maybe 5 CB's, 2-3 CM's, a GK, and maybe a striker, but I'm fairly good there. All my current crop are peaking at "would do a job at a midtable Championship side", barring 5 players from my current intakes, three of which are wingbacks.... EDIT: Wouldn't have been so bad if you could cut through the seasons more quickly. I don't have the patience after my long term Bradford PA save.

Might stick with a homegrown idea, but with transfers included, and perhaps a bias, like 70-80% HG, for a little flex.

It was worth the seasons I did do, just for that striker though, geez, only 17 and would be a starter across half the PL.

Now to decide where my next adventure should be, probably in Classic too.

I saw someone do a "youth intake" save but they ran into the same troubles you had, so they adapted the rules so that they had a transfer budget comprising of only money made through selling players that had come through the academy. If you'd signed someone earlier and wanted rid, the money couldn't be used to fund a new signing.

So I've got 3 days off from work next week due to accumulated overtime. Thinking of getting back into my St. Pauli save and finally completing my 10th season at the club but I'm planning to go with van Gaal's 3-4-3 to shake things up a bit. As much as I love my good old 4-2-3-1 I get tired of playing the same system every season.

The tactic is probably going to look like this...

but I'll probably have to experiment a lot and see what works best for my team.

Well the reason that I'm not going for CWBs is that they have the tendency to push to high up the field in my opinion but they are needed for the build up game as otherwise you will only have those two CMs that could get easily isolated. They will still get a good amount of attacking action I'm quite sure but of course I have to see how it really plays out if they act too defensive I might change their settings.
