PL winners under Moyes:

Anyway, pretty happy with my Marino save. 3rd division 3 seasons ago, brought them up to La Liga and finished 13th when my goal was to avoid relegation. Aiming for a midtable finish and a decent cup run next season. Board also building a new stadium with a capacity of 25k compared to the old stadium capacity of 9k. My project of bringing a small club into the CL coming along nicely.

@Mel_F Have the board given you much money or are you running off loans/frees? Had a save with a lower division Spanish side a while ago but it was a pain in terms of money, think my owner's were just tight bastards though as I had great finances and didn't spend much at all but even after winning the league 3 times it took me about 12 years before I was given a budget of over £10m.

My first 2 seasons, no, I was given feck all. I made do with some good free transfers and loan deals. Once I got into the first division, I was given a decent budget.

I suppose it also depends on the finances of your club. I think Marino starts off as 'okay' but some clubs are in quite a lot of debt, so that'll impact on your budget too.

Just won the quintuple with AC Milan in my 5th season in charge. Noticed a weird thing in the WC though, all German players are unattached players who are not available for transfers and the real German players aren't in the squad.

You need to delete the fake.inc file in the C:/ProgramFiles/Steam/SteamApps/Common/fm2014/data/db/1430/inc folder to activate the German national team. I think that's the right path, just google football manager fake.inc and it will walk you through how to do it if not. :)

Updated shite in the editor, things like promotions/relegation and transfers etc. and christ QPR have a fecking terrible squad filled with past it's on insane wages. Might give them ago and see if I can get anywhere with 'em. Gonna be impossible shifting some of this deadwood though.

I bet that'd be a pretty big struggle, fun though!

I'm close to done with Sassuolo, think I'll go in the opposite direction next, play as Monaco and build a ridiculous, world smashing team asap.

Falcao, Moutinho, Rodriguez and Kondogbia are a nice bit of the way there, too.

@Earthquake Toulalan's a beast aswell and Ocampos always turns out great, same as Martial.

Their defence is a bit shite with only really Carvalho & Abidal good enough and they're both past it, can pick up a solid French back line pretty easily though with Varane/Mangala/Laporte/Umtiti all relatively easy to buy.

Anyone got this on Steam and tried any of the mods?

I have been trying Steam FC challenge - you literally get a fresh club, no staff or players, an £800m budget and huge wage budget, and have to build a team. The tricky part is that as a new club your reputation isn't anything special and most players/staff refuse to join you. Also getting the team chemistry etc there is tricky with loads of new players.
And your expectation is to win everything.

Also using a mod which recreates a lot of legends as 18 year olds on free transfers. Doing that with the Steam so I have an entire team of recreated greats (both Ronaldo's, Messi, Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Keane and Viera, Schmeichel).

I recommend it if anyone fancies trying something a bit different.

What cnut at QPR thought paying Barton, Wright-Phillips, Zamora, Green, Onuoha, Jenas, Granero, Faurlin, Young, Hill, Hoilett, Cesar & Diakite £570,000 a week would be a good idea?!

They do have the bones of a mighty team there!

 Defies all sense.

God knows how these lot haven't gone bust yet.

Slowly but surely shifting all the dead wood now, Diakite, Granero, Onuoha, SWP(God knows why Rubin thought they'd pay £900k for him and match his £65k p/w wages) & Julio Cesar off the wage bill. A few clubs sniffing round Barton, Green & Zamora too so hopefully I can get rid of them as that'll be an extra £155k p/w saved just on the three of 'em.

Have about 6 players good enough to start for me though so I think I'm gonna just buy young players and aim to avoid relegation this season. As long as I can stay up then I can move forward from next year and move on from having a team full of high earning past-it's.

Aye mainly what I do unless I go for a feck about save with someone like Madrid/Monaco/PSG. Don't have much choice here though as any established players want upwards of £40k p/w.

Hmmm, thought I was done with Sassuolo, but they've given me 55m(after financial troubles mid season, and new ownership), I win the league, Europa and Cup.

I replaced my 2nd choice DM Luca Marrone who I sold for 12m to Monaco, with Romeu, on a free, and have secured a 2nd season loan of Zouma.

Pretty strong squad throughout, if I had a better striker than Vydra or Zaza to be first choice, and perhaps a sturdier midfield, I think I could pick up the missing piece, the CL.

Fairly sure Lukaku is available for loan too...... leaving me with the 55m to see if I can land someone better than Thorne or Ekdal for the middle, could even shunt Lucas Silva to BTB and pick up Kondgbia.

started a new save the other day and finished the first season. David Moyes lead United to the treble. Champions League, Premier League and FA cup. Also went on to win the club championship as well. Safe to say he has survived his first season in this save.

Just had a frankly baffling moment in my Sassuolo save. Yann Sommer had a 13.5m release fee, and 2 years on his contract, to update the contract, and make him not piss easy to pick off, he wanted more wages than I could afford, and he was heavily wanted by AC Milan, and Dortmund.

Dortmund put in a 15m bid, only 3 of which was up front, I guess paying a bit over the odds to lessen the initial impact on their budgets.

I tried to talk it up anyway.

That after international appearances is 600k, fwiw, anyway they accepted.

In comes Maxym Koval for 7.75m....

Fecking hell

Koval's great anyway so a solid replacement you have in him. Adding a 50% of next sale always works aswell if a club offers you a negotiable offer, easy way to make a bit of money after selling 'em.

Koval's one of my faves, always. Just a shame a fair bit of CA is wasted by him in Off The Ball.

Decided to take a break from Italy, and go back to my "main save", my attempt to make Bradford PA into a powerhouse. I was on line for promotion to the Premiership in 2019/20 when I left it, and finished that season handily.

Wanted to do this right, and be safe and sensible, realistic, which was going well.
Gave me 12m transfer budget(though to spend it would leave them in the red), and all that badly needed strengthening was my full back spots, my current crop weren't Prem ready. Straight away Fulham enquired about one of my strikers, mediocre, but very fast and tagged at 2.5m, I chanced my arm, and got 13.5m and a 50% sell on. Relplaced him with a youngster from Barca, tagged at 3.5m, I tried lowballing and they were happy to take 1.6m. Probably not good enough for them, but he'll be a fine striker for the Prem. Arsenal put a bid in of 5.5 for a DM I'd been tracking for two years, so I matched it(in instalments), and offered him good wages and role. In. Nabbed a potential worldie from South America for 3m, and picked up a great RB Arsenal had oddly listed, for 1.4m, and a 16 year old LB for 1.6m.

Including other sales I had 10m give or take left, but as the club were taking 25% of transfers, they're better off financially too, giving me a tad bit of freedom. Decided to eyeball the expiring in 6 months list, hoping for a first team LB, and I caught wind of this ridiculous DM/MC, 23 years old, his Attribute Analysis tab screams Vidal(who Chelsea have now, as a natural LB), and apparently has room to grow. Whacked all my money to wages, and took a punt. There were some big teams also in, so I had to give him(and his agent) a frankly ridiculous deal, for a club of my size, one that'd make him instantly accept, rather than get picked off by Porto or some cnuts. 44k a week, 60k after 10 Int games, Relegation release of 0, and a 50% sell on. For contrast, the entire rest of my squad total 200kpw. Later on I'm hoping to get him to sack his agent, and negotiate a 50+/-k wage without the Int boost or 50% sell on. Went ahead and activated the Buy Now option too, for 1.6m, as it'd be ridiculous not to.

Model Professional too.

Still need that left back, have 3.3m, and 50k to spare, still, what could I do, the muppet took a hold of me.

Got bored with my Marino save. I'd just signed a fantastic winger from Barcelona's u18s too. I'll post his profile when I can be bothered loading up FM.

PSV is fun. So many talented youngsters. Ajax stormed the Eredivise in my first season but I managed to win the Cup and Europa League, now that my younger players have a season more of experience under their belts we are smashing the league. Currently in Feb, 23 games in and on 63 points, still unbeaten.

Wijnaldum, Depay and Narsingh are beasts.

You will struggle to find a better inside-left than Ocampos too.

So by some weird trick (read: I dunno how I did it) I can take over any side in Germany down to the Oberliga. Took over Berliner FC Dynamo from the NOFV-Oberliga Nord and won the league in the first season. Made a slight loss that was tempered by significant gate takings in the DFB Pokal. Had to give up my best defender and GK as their deals were running out and wouldn't settle for less than 100k euros a year.

What's the best football manager game from 2001 - 2005? I want to get into football manager but instead of buying £40 game I just wanna spend a few quid on an old one, for a bit of nostalgia and to figure out how to play these sort of games. Is there any game from that period that is considered better than the others or are they all roughly the same?

CM 01/02 for me by far, they released it as a free download aswell a few years ago. The direct website is dead but the download link here still works so it's worth a try..

Is it me or is 2014 easy as piss? I could never get into 2013 because it seemed impossible to win regardless of what you did. I got 2014 on Steam Sale and so far I have United unbeaten in all comps midway through November and I didn't even make any signings. On top of that, I sold Hernandez (for money the board didn't end up giving me) and Van Persie broke his leg early on. I always have 55-60% possession and any less than 20 shots is a bit low.

Just signed a 33 year old RVP on loan on my game as manager of Sporting Gijon.

Survived my first season in the Regionalliga, coming 8th (out of 16). Had to get my wage budget under control as it was still too large to be making a considerable profit from.

Also got a big leg-up from PSV who bought one of my promising strikers for 50k with a 25% of next sale clause who then let me sell that clause six months later for 1.7m :D

Bradford PA's first season(ever) in the Premiership comes to quite a baffling close. My muppet panic style of management paid off, and somehow we squeaked 3rd ahead of Chelsea, the top six were Man City/Man Utd/Bradford/Chelsea/Arsenal/Southampton. I struggled massively with City and their 4-3-1-2 formation, loosing 3 times, also, and this is the most baffling bit, I got smashed 3 times by Huddersfield as they marched on to 19th place.

Managed to score a 4 magic young players from Italy and France, which will help as we make our European debut, but I still think the squad will need more overhauling, especially in attack. One of which will be replacing a young CB I sold to Norwich, for 21m, and a 50% sell on fee. He was worth 5m, max...... this new lad is far, far better.

I swapped from my main 5-2-1-2 formation to a 4-1-2-2-1 formation that works very well, the 5 back is still immense against formations with two strikers though. I may need to tweak it, as my Inside Forwards(on the left, wingers on the right) have been wank, might switch the role to AP(A) and my AP in midfield to a CM(A).

A week later, they announce they're building a new stadium! Naming it after Wayne Benn. In two years we move to Benn Park, with a 25k capacity, and undersoil heating. Not 3 months ago upgrades were just finished to Horsfall Stadium. Mad....
