Gaming Football Manager 2014

So i got promoted from the Regionalliga through the playoffs. Lucky. Last Match-day loss to RW Essen threatened to ruin my plans.

Anyway, now in the 3. Liga, club has turned pro (finally)

Predicted finish...20th.

I think I'm after doing a Spurs job on my team. In an effort to strengthen enough to compete in the league and Europe, too many new, foreign faces. Not playing well at all, but it's only September. Plus, two of my worse games have been against 4-2-3-1 and the 4-2-3-1 with the 3 AMs, which I seem to struggle with, especially on this save.
 
Oh God, in 2024, I just clicked on the "testimonials" thing (because I'm having one with United against Porto and I've no idea who it's for), and Doncaster are having one for Louis Tomlinson.

I shall quote his entire biography. "Louis Tomlinson has spent his entire career at Doncaster Rovers, joining in 2013/14 and making a total of 9 league appearances since breaking into the first-team setup in 2017."

He managed an entire five appearances in one season once! All off the bench, average rating of 6.50. Truly such a legend will have people queuing for miles for his testimonial.
 
Alright this really gets on my tits. I'm Colchester and I'm in the Prem. My youth player, a Colchester fan, his contract is running out. His wage demands is ridiculous.

He's asking for 4k per week, when he's currently earning 140 per week. On top of that, he wants to be a key player. Now this guy has made less than 10 appearances for me, so I thought it was his agent that's doing the bargaining. So I've asked him to feck his agent off, and warned him I'll transfer list him if he doesn't want to sign. So he tells me he will sign a contract.

So we go back to negotiations, with Celtic now tabling a contract offer for him. I gave him a backup status and locked it in. No problems there. He's still asking 4k. So I offered him 2.5k per week, plus 10% increase every year, AND appearance fees of 1.5k per game. 3 year deal. The sniding little twit says he's been backed in a corner by my offers. feck OFF.

He signs with Celtic for 2 years, accepting a pay of 1.9k per week.

So to top it off, I offered him more money, a chance to play in the Prem with his boyhood club, all before he's even made 10 appearances for my team. He refuses based on the fact that I'm not giving him 4k per month but signs with Celtic for less than half of that.

Who is the most annoying player you've worked with?

I know a lot of the game is randomised, but I've done 4 saves where I've worked with Nani and in every single one he complains about "lack of first team football" after missing a game or two, he can't adapt to Spanish culture somehow (Valencia save), he hands in a transfer request in every United save and any contract you try to hand him he asks for outrageous wages.
 
My team have settled beautifully, sitting in the mix at the top table handily, would be clear first only for an unfortunate 0-1 loss to City, their team is bastardly good though.

I dominated my CL group though, despite expecting a hard battle, I have 5 wins in 5, and 15 scored/1 conceded against Bayern, Benfica, and Galatasaray, one dead rubber with Benfica left, table is completely locked in, us first, Bayern second, and Benfica third.

Bayern's team is very interesting, in a bad way, they're pretty much a spent force, 2021 and still starting Neuer(35, still good), Lahm(38, physically ruined), Schwein(37, ruined), Kroos(starting to decline). Gotze, Muller & Alaba are in their prime though, and Martinez is still quality. Will Hughes has grown greatly for them too, after bouncing around a tad.
 
Strange, not a few months after arranging for a new stadium, the chairman is "willing to listen to offers", which means I should have a takeover within a year.

Also, after saying the club was available to be bought, offered me a new contract 10 times more than my current deal, which had 19 months to go.....
 
Still struggling to get back into this, may give Real Sociedad a go.

Due to progressing to the Uefa cup semi final and fa cup final, I now have 13 potentially 14 matches in the next month and only have a small squad and no decent youngsters to fill in. Luckily I somehow have 5 games in hand on everyone else in the league so will have to throw useless players in some of these games and hope I can still get top 4.
 
Who was it that mentioned steam FC earlier, was it you @Earthquake?

Loaded up the Skrill South Challenge, signed players like Ward-Prowse, AOC, Harry Kane and Berahino. Halfway through the season and pissing it in the league by about 30 points, having only drawn once
 
Decided to go back to Everton, on the new LFC update. Selling some deadwood youngsters, few offers made for Tyias Browning who has a 2 1/2 star rating. He accepts the offer from Guangzhou who are paying him 87k per week!

Insane.

Pretty sure my saves are just cursed when it comes to this game. :lol:

Either die on me after a while or some bug crops up ffs. Started with Newcastle and it's been going great but there's no domestic cups for some reason, they're there and everything and the start date is as normal but there's just no fixtures, looked on the SI forums and it's happened to other people aswell and it's just some one off error apparently. Gonna finish the season and see if they come back and are played as normal for the second season and if so I'll carry on, cba with this save if not though, not that the cups are exactly of any importance but it's a bit shite not having 'em.

My 2nd season in the Premiership with Bradford Park Avenue is going even more swimmingly. May now, and still in with a very good shout of landing 2nd, could have competed for the title, but December was awful for me, could buy a win. Smashed in the first ko round of the CL by Valencia, though I had met expectations, and the qf of the League Cup. I'm in the FA Cup Final, against Chelsea(6th in the league).

My board has just been taken over, and while my job isn't secure yet, I'm expecting it to be. They instantly added 20m to my transfer budget, 800kpw of wages, and promised to upgrade facilities(which are awful atm). Next season should be fun, though the only piece of real strengthening I needed, has been done, in landing a potential worldie left footed CB on a free from AC Milan.
 
Season finished on a high, job safe, 11m sunk into facilities(which I believe means massive improvement, not just the next stage), dropped to 3rd in the league, but smashed Chelsea 3-1 at Wembley. It was especially nice to beat Mourinho with a 5 at the back formation, and the first goal off a Delap bomb throw. 'Ave it!

I know the feeling. I now regularly get a week or two in the season where I have a game on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday in the month of MARCH. Like what the hell, right?

This summer window is less exciting than expected. Sold a transfer listed(requested) CB, some players I didn't especially need and one player I didn't really want to sell, but I had too many players for the position. Leaves me with 83m to spend, but feck all I need to buy. There's a ridiculous offer on the table for one of my RB's, but I'd only be selling for the sake of buying a new one, and my current 2nd choice RB is already very good and the top RB prospect in world football.

Meh.
 
I managed to get La Hoya promoted to Liga Adelante in my second season at the club. They're the only semi-pro team in the division, with absolutely no budgets whatsoever. The prediction in my first season was relegation, and I managed to finish 7th.

Second season goes fantastically, and we get promoted playing a very combative, aggressive pressing style that dominates possession against teams that aren't good technically and surrender the ball easily. Unfortunately there's still no budgets, and I can't afford to renew the contracts of any of my players so I've just lost ~75% of my squad.

As soon as we're promoted, the board spunk £750k on terracing, which to me doesn't look financially sound whatsoever and surely that money could have been spent on contracts. These players are only asking for roughly £250 pw!

Won the Scudetto after three years with Roma, it was Totti's last season too and he went out scoring the goal that meant we were champions.

The CL was frustrating, after knocking out PSG and Chelsea, I took a 2-1 lead back to Italy against Man City. Due to Valdes getting injured against Chelsea for 4 months I had to play Guita who has conceded 23 goals in 12 games.. and he had a nightmare, I lost 4-3 and went out on away goals. :( Ah well, I just signed a Brazilian attacking mid who can play left wing and Centre mid with a PA of 199..

Gutting.

On the upside, I should get 45m for him, and have a replacement that's almost as good lined up for 1.5m.
 
In my current save, I'm trying to develop a team fully based on youth and hunting down wonderkids (basically just using regens). Only problem right now, is they all seem to be attacking midfielders and I have way to many of them and are likely to struggle to get them all enough game time. Other issue is it seems that there have been zero quality full backs. I’m now about 5 season in and still none have appeared. The team is getting to the level, where I think I’m finally going to have to break the strategy and buy an established player for the position or have a massive weakness in defence.

I got the same problem with BFC Dynamo. Too many attacking mids and shite full backs

This worked out surprisingly well, I rejected the bid anyway, and my guy kicked up no fuss. I did sell a right winger to Real, shunted this lad out wide where he's been more effective, despite being a striker, and popped in the new 1.8m, overall stronger squad.

Same as that, word of AM's, not so much fullbacks, Monaco have one top, top one but they want 80m. I apparently have the two best RB's in the world, neither are special.

Chelsea made Vidal and David Luiz LB's ffs.
