Gaming Football Manager 2014

Steam is probably the handiest place to pick it up.....

Have you played any FM before? If not, start with Man Utd, they're incredibly strong, have lots of money, and you'll already know the squad very well, so they'll be handy to get to grips with the game. It's basically easy mode, tbh.

If you have, of course it becomes all about what kind of challenge you want, or story to tell...
How much did you pay for your copy?

Just won the German Cup for the second year running. Finished 3rd in the league.

Making great money offloading dead wood. Fighting off bids for De Bruyne and Balanta though. Got some top youth players and just signed Sven Bender to join his brother too. Trying to sign Draxler if possible. So much good German talent.

Sacked as manager of United after beating City 4-1 in the FA Cup. Not impressed.

Missed out on World Cup football with Ireland. Brought it to the last day, but lost away to German-ish.

Sweden got in over me on goal difference, as they, Ireland, and Austria all finished on 17 points.

May I never have to select shitc**ts like McGeady and Houlihan in FM again. Surprisingly, I brought in some young Championship lads and they outperformed the big names consistently. Except Coleman, who was consistently stellar, and had an equalizer against Germany(who won 1-0), chalked off for offside despite running from deep and blasting it past 3 defenders from 30 yards out.
Despite my protests, I can't let this go. I know I can get Ireland to the World Cup, start a save.

Before my first competitive game, away to Sweden, Coleman and Forde, along with a rotation striker out injured. Tried to call up Paddy Kenny, and he rejects it, saying he should have been in my original squad. Welcome to not being in the national pool. Cnut.

Despite these problems, for a laugh, I call up a wank 19 year old free agent rb(as he won't leave my bench anyway).

Sweden 1-4 Ireland. *save tactic*

Tbh, that's a bad combo, especially with hassle opponents. Both are going to run all over the place at the best of times, never mind when told to press the opponents more.

I'd swap one out for a more solid "keeps play ticking" player or role. Try swapping your ball winner for a CM(d/s) or DLP(d/s).

What role is your AMC?
My Fulham side has now gone on a crazy run of winning 16 out of 18 games and drawing the other two.

I think I was doing too much with the tactics. Removing Hassling opponents and pushing up also possibly helped. But less tinkering too.

Well in the end went up as Champions with Derby. Wasn't the best option as the squad isn't good enough to compete in the PL, on top of that my transfer budget wasn't particularly good so it'll be mainly free's and loans I think.

Need some investment, all my requests are denied due to lack of funds and after attempting to get the academy to level 1 status, they've deemed it fit to drop it to 3.

There's an incredible amount of options, it's easy to try too much, when keeping it simple is probably best.

Managed to fix the faulty fan on my laptop, so it's actually possible to play "full fat" FM again without burning my house down.

Looked through my old saves, and found my Bradford Park Avenue ones, including one fairly close to how far I'd gotten when they history bug hit, so I'm going to start there, and hope it doesn't repeat, would love to take this save farther. Started in the Skrill North, currently close to promotion to League 1(was promoted when it bugged), and had three famous matches in the FA Cup. An away draw to Arsenal where we scored an injury time equalizer to make it 1-1 at the Emirates. A shocking 1-0 win in the replay at Horsfall. Finishing up with a 3-2 defeat in the next round, at Old Trafford where we were kind of unlucky to not get anything, Man Utd's 3 goals coming from their only 3 (half) chances, where as I had two clearcut and two half chances.

My second season went with Valencia went freakishly similar to the current season.

Lead Barcelona with three points with last match to play at Camp Nou.

Look at the final result

Parejo, Paco, Bernat, Banega, Otamandi, Rami, Vietto are all excellent.

I still can't work out how AVB got the United job on my game.

This is the final day for me. Tight as a nun. A draw keeps me up whatever happens, lose and Cordoba beat Barca away and I'm down.

Went down thanks to an 87th minute goal.

Felt like Football Manager had been actively trying to get me relegated all season, on the last day in the cruelest fashion it succeded.

Picked up a player on a free, striker, prem potential, which is massive for ajust promoted to League One team.

Should have looked closer, bastard has a shiteeeee personality(casual), and won't accept tutoring...... Proper shame.

Why is this game trying its absolute hardest to bug me into defeat. I got a penalty against me somehow, because aguero tripped himself over my defender, he didn't even go to ground, yet that's a penalty. My defenders can't even move with the ball or pass it to a midfielder who is not marked, but then the strikers and wingers are unrealistically high up the pitch...oh and a player who rounded the keepr SKYS the fecking shot. Also Kompany is a defender, not a fecking midfielder, yet every game I have played from 2012 to now, has him world class in that area. Also, this being the year 2018, how is Zabaleta as pacy as he is now...just what the feck. Why am I mentioning these names, because I rage quit after playing city. Just what the hell is wrong with this match engine, I don't want to use the 2D one I want the 3D one! How is it difficult...

Could be worse, my keeper just dived, saved a shot, deflecting it into the air, and stayed lying on the ground while the ball flew up, hit the crossbar, fell back down landing on his prone ass, and rolled off him over the line.

It's just tough luck sometimes. I just had a draw where Osasuna equalized with a deflected 35 yard screamer at 90+5 minute (referee compensated only 3 somehow). It's four draw in the row for me and I have been completely dominating this games.

Currently sitting in 13th place with Derby in PL, 17 points from 14 games. Going steady although could do with some improvements, promotion probably saved the club from administration as it was all over the media about the club's financial worries. Blackburn are rock bottom after being deducted 9 points for going into administration, a first for me in FM.

Strongest team at the minute is:

GK - Ronnow
LB - Wallace
CB - Lescott
CB - Boyata
RB - Tisserand
CM - Hughes
CM - Hendrick
CAM - Bryson
RAM - Carrasco
LAM - Russell
ST - Sigporsson

Bench: Molinaro, Keogh, O'Brien, Rosicky, Holt, Ward, Martin.

Always love a good unrealistic game from FM. Playing Chelsea and went 0-1 down early doors, came back with 3 goals to be comfortably winning. Then comes the inevitable capitulation and I lose 3-4 thanks to a Hazard goal from a good 40-45 yards out, all whilst Cole gets a 4.4 rating yet I can't manage to get by him 2nd half.

Lovely.

feck Valencia, I won the league and they give me only 10m budget and 100k wage bill improvement over last year, this inspite of the fact that there was CL coming in and the TV Rights deal were increased from 40m to 60m.

I REALLY want to get back into playing this. It's frustrating that I never find the time with uni. I enjoy reading about everyone's games though.

Gave up my Sevilla save, didn't feel like managing in Spain after 10 seasons with Villarreal on my last save.

On to Roma it is.. I will aim to have a whole squad of Italians within 3-4 seasons. Half coming up from the youth team. Having a terrible pre season though, lost every game apart from against some part timers where we won 2-1..:nervous:

Badly need a new Chairman, this one is a cunyet. Won't upgrade stuff(average facilities) despite me making the club well off, first season in League One, and I'm already pushing for promotion again. His status is "happy to stay at club", sure it began at "loves the club", so I'm on the right track for him to get lost eventually.

My star player, a 19 year old CB is already Premiership quality, and tied down for 5 years. A lot of my players have Premiership potential too...

Media are complaining that I prefer to buy Irish over English, but I'm picking up 4-5* potential for 50-60k at times... One lad, I picked up for 60k, 5*, his potential dropped to 4*, but Celtic came wading in 6 months later, with a cool 1.2m, done and done, never even got past my U21's.

Just won the CL with FC Paris 2000 at the first time of entering the competition, in year 2020. Beating City in the semi and Bayern in the final.

I only wanted to get out of the group stages and that would have pleased me, but win the thing? jesus!

Fair fecks. What sort of formation are you playing?

Still struggling to win the PL with Sheffield United, Chelsea and United are way too good, they finish 10-15 points ahead of third each season. In 2022 and still only have a few domestic cups and a championship title. We've no problem scoring goals, but just not defending well and controlling matches.

I played a 4-2-3-1 with 2 wide pacey wingers, 1 advanced striker and an advanced playmaker in CAM. I had 1 CM advanced playmaker and 1 CM deep lying playmaker.

I think it helped that I invested well with some young talented defenders who remained solid, and creativity / goals through the team.

To be honest it was probably a stroke of luck, but my team seems to be really up for the big games, and then will end up drawing/losing in the league to the minnows.

In my save Tottenham sold Anthony Griezmann for 22 mil to Inter Milan and bought Fabio Borini off Swansea for 33.5 mil

How the hell does a team playing 442 with seamus coleman on the left wing get more possession and better defending than me...what the feck. This happens ALL the time, midfield 2's getting more possession than my midfield 3's its fecking stupid.

Just had the best comeback ever. Semi finals of the champions league against Real Madrid with United in the first season, lost the first game 5-1 and then won 4-0 in the return leg with 2 goals coming in the last 10 minutes.

Attacked the skin issue tonight, and got one I'm quite happy with. Nuu Rebooted, though I need to download the update that's compatible with the background pack, but it's no pressing concern.

Took a while to find one that allowed all the panels I wanted, the bigger attribute polygon and with at least relatively slick looks(all in Windowed mode). Zooming the text to 95% was a massive help. I could stand to adjust the attribute colours some more too, but again, no biggie.

Perfect chance to show you my "superstar" striker. This lad is quite interesting, potential to be a leading Premiership player.
I picked him up in the 2017 preseason, from Sligo Rovers for the princely sum of 18k. Tore up League Two in my promotion campaign(winning the JPT along the way), and Spurs threw a 1.2m bid at him, which I managed to talk up to 4.1m, season long loan back, and a free Friendly. He's been shite this season though.

If I could have got siam14() to have that larger attribute polygon, I'd have been even happier. It doesn't need all the panels as the main one is quick to flick, and looks even better.

The Alavanga ones aren't bad either, but their attribute polygon, while pretty, is small and mostly useless as a gauge.

The match engine is the same, the 3d and 2d is just the representation of the game.
