Yeah I had that same problem. Mixed it up a bit and then it finally worked.
My code dont work either but there's no 0's or o's and only 1 number in it. Rang SIgames and the code is valid. They have told me to get a refund!!
There is a little program you can download that worked for me, there should be a link on the si website

And why don't you make your own friendlies? Would you rather your strikers got form against the likes of Juventus and Valencia, or the rubbish amateur sides begging to be spanked?
Still in 1st season. Would be to much hassle cancelling and re-arranging the friendlies this season, but maybe next...

No way you'll get Messi for £50 million. I tried offering them £95 million, and I was completely prepared to spend it if I had to. They wouldn't touch it. I suspect he'll be a bit cheaper later in the game, but at the start he's untouchable.

Really? I'm 2 seasons in now, and Messi has been bleedin' incredible for Barcelona. I'm not sure whether I can sell someone to City to gather the cash, but if I can get him for anything under £60 million (and even that if I can gather that much funds), I'll sell what I need to get him.

My first guess as to why that is is because you've opted to load all players from the Home Nations? That definitely increases the number and quality of regens. I use a DDT file which automatically loads all players from a lot of nations.

Incidentally, the current WC holders, Italy, just went out of the 2010 World Cup in the Group Stages. Their group was Paraguay, Wales and Burkina Faso.
I'm almost certain it directly affects the number (and with that quality) of the ReGens appearing of that nationality. Which is why I load all the players from quite a big list of countries for my long-term games, so that I get a good balanced game in the future too.

You should start using a DDT-file. It'll load up all the players from the nations you specify every time you start up a new game. I think I've been using this one since FM06.
I uploaded it here. Just put it in \db\*the db you want to use it with*\edt. If you just use the normal patches, it should be under data\updates.
You can open it in notepad, or whatever, and add or remove some nations. For bad computers, I suggest removing some of the lesser ones, as the game runs a bit slower even on my computer, so an old one might struggle a bit. If you've got a good computer, it shouldn't be a problem.
Where do you get that file? I'll use it for the final restart that comes with the patch in February
