Gaming Football Manager 2009

If you have an active league does that count as loading all the players from that country, too?

If so then my active countries list is: England, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Holland and Portugal, with Argentina, Brazil and Mexico selected as "load all players".

I have a feeling I should have loaded players from more countries, but if those ten become the most powerful in world football it won't worry me too much.

No, as half the players on the database reside on non-playable leagues.
 
Retain_nations means loading all players of that nationality, not those playing in that country. Whether nor not a lower league team (lower than Conference North/South, assuming you've selected it) from England has that particular fellow from Sri Lanka would depend on the database (small, medium, large). But if you use the DDT fellow and pick all the biggest nations and quite a few of the more important small ones, as well as picking the big European leagues, I doubt you'll miss any players.

Oh, and I just agreed a £43.5 million deal for Messi. He didn't want to at first, but he quickly changed his mind when I threw all I had at him.

saivet , tiago luis , tosic , adem lljaic , david luiz , vidal and about 3-4 south american wonderkids my scouts recommended ..

too many players now
also scouting axel wistel .. dont know where to play him

Got Silva, my third best winger (behind Messi and Ronaldo) hopefully going to Real for £80 million (they bid £60mil when i offered that but decided i'd be a bit greedier.) I then hope to one of my young home grown players (who i actually bought for £20m a few seasons back from City) his chance to shine.

Then i got Pato coming on a free to be my 4th striker, so i'll probably sell Saivet for about £25 million if i can, or loan him out for a season.

Finally, Evans going out for about £15 million hopefully, because he wasn't getting enough football behind Rio, Zapata, Vidic and Sakho, and then i'll be bringing both promising English and Scottish centre backs into the first team.

Buying someone for 20 million does not make them 'home grown', unless you mean it in the champions league sense of the term.
 
To be honest I got bored with playing as United or any top team on this game on 2008. I only have one game so far, and I'm going up from the very lowest division to do it.

They were 16 at the time. Spent 3 years in the academy, it was a justified purchase as my scouts were raving about him being as good as Ronaldo and his stats were already impressive.

It counts as 'home grown' to a point, as i've trained him up etc, but i see where you are coming from, but it was a case of me paying over the odds for the player when he was a nothing player, or paying even more silly money for him when he was one of the best.

Also, i was about to spend silly money on Bale (from City again) as my 30 year old Evra's replacement.

At the same time, my french scouts stumbled upon this....

Don't sign him - he's the next Wright-Phillips. Runs, falls over and shoots into the stands consistently.

Yes. And he's already in my senior squad.

I've also spent £18 million this season and sold £180 million worth of players. (Evra and Silva both for £60 mil.)

I don't think i have to be worried about spending £20 million on a promising 16 year old.

I've also found some sort of bug. Sold Rafael to Roma for £10 million, with a £10 million buy back clause, but i also get £40 million for his first international appearance. So he's basically gone on a £40 million loan. I brought in a better and more experienced Maicon to cover until i decide to buy him back, hopefully as a better player.
 
This game is full of bugs

not only does it seem to injure a new player once every two weeks (i currently have Ronaldo, Berbatov, Park, Hargreaves, VDS and a bunch of others out injured for 2 MONTHS each), but it also weirdly changed my team selection round in a match.

I chose a 'normal' team and when i clicked the play button it had brought in players and put them in unusual positions. Was something like this;

GK - Foster
RB - Nani
LB - Ferdinand
CB - Scholes
CB - Vidic
LM - Giggs
CM - Rooney
CM - Evra
RM - Carrick
CF - PIG
CF - Tevez

I've played several seasons, and I've yet to see the injury bug. I also think the second "bug" is more likely to be something you did that you weren't aware of, because that doesn't sound like any bug I've ever heard of.

Oh, and obviously you should patch the game.

I don't see how it's cheating. I put in a buy back clause of the same amount of their offer, they accepted it, then i wondered if putting an appearance based fee would work and it did. It's a bug that i discovered with this transfer only, it's not exactly like i've been doing it throughout the whole game.

im playing through Steam, im already on 9.2.0

I should point out what caused the second bug to happen;

I was playing multiplayer with the wee brother. I picked my team for the match and clicked 'continue'. Whilst i was waiting for my brother to click continue, i had a change of mind (i was waiting on the formation screen) and decided i wanted Wes to play RB instead, so tried to change it. I wasnt sure if i would be able to do this whilst in 'wait' mode or not but it appeared to let me change Neville out and Brown in. However, when i got to the match it had fecked everything up with the lineup above and PIG playing up front!

So there you go, dont try to change your lineup whilst you are 'waiting' and playing multiplayer

Anyone know how to report a bug to them?

Ah, yes, you were playing multiplayer. I've only played a bit multiplayer on FM09. That's a bit of an annoying but, though it's hardly game breaking. You just change it back again before the game. Either way, reporting it sounds like a good idea.

you seem to have misunderstood slightly; i didnt get the chance to change it back before matchtime. It started playing with that weird lineup. Cost me points
 
Can someone help me, I've set up a game with my bro, I'm Lyon and he's City. I saved it on mine and loaded the game up, and when my bro connects to the server again, he can't take over his City post. What's happened?

you have to setup the game first as the server. Then give him your IP address which you can get from 'Game Status'

If youre using a router its the number after the /

He then connects to your game and adds a new manager going through the wizard. He can then take control of whatever team he wants.

I suspect he went through the wizard and then tried to connect to your game.

He's been in the game before, we got to about 3 games in, I saved it on mine (He didn't save on his, don't know if he can) and then we've both turned computers off, he's tried to come back on today, and he can't log into his Man City account.

Any ideas?
 
Those of you having injury problems, it's either your physios or your training regime. The former is unlikely because United start out with a score of physios, even exceeding the board limit. I'm using Tug's 09 Training pack and I'm just cruising right now, have yet to see an injury that lasts more than 2 weeks, besides one or two of my youths.

Loving this version of FM. The 3d engine is a big step in the right direction.

Oh, okay-you tried to open it? When the download box comes up, pick save as instead. That should do it.

EDIT: Then when you've downloaded them, go into your squad's training, click edit, then import, and go the location you saved them to.
 
Arsenal are so annoying in this game. 5 seasons in and they still win everything. They've won the champions league about 2 or 3 times out of 4. I'm doing fantastic in my 5th season at the moment, yet Arsenal are still above me, it takes the piss. They've dropped only 7 points in 22 games!
