Should I allow Managers/Clubs to make transfer every summer or should I lock in the teams drafted fo

Not bad. Great goalie, solid defence, nice midfield. Just not sure how front three would interact?

Shearer tended to work with a (relatively) unselfish support (Sutton, Sheringham, Ferdinand) and not sure I'd describe Jurgen Klinsmann as "unselfish".

Went for bags of goals with my attack, not sure how Hitzfield will line up the front 3, only really Maradonna being a certain.Could see any combination of Shearer,Klinsmann,Hughes, Cantona and Zsengeller, who I threw in to have a few older players in the squad. Never heard of him before this draft but apparently scored 387 goals in 325 appearances so should be decent at least.

This is what I told alto when we picked him..

Nah, always had him down for R5. Fullbacks were my critical priority, just look at Pep's misery and investment in them.

Got Figo instead. Would have preferred Stoichkov, but no biggie. At that point I was more miffed about Cannavaro than Stoichkov.

You bastard... along with @Invictus/@Ecstatic the one who nabbed the most players I wanted (Cruyff, Stoichkov and Cannavaro, who should be an absolute beast now at 6ft5in). Unfortunately you've done a good job so no scope for relegation releases being activated.

Littbarski? Who else?

The thing in looking most forward to is who gets all the end of season awards, FIFA world player of the year, league IX and all that.

I've seen this a few times now that would be the league 9

I feel this is going to be a really strong team right out of the gate, with everyone already well developed and playing at a very high level. Only Ferdinand, Mihajlovic, and Hagi have significant development yet to go (based on ages).

Then I have some serious back up and young talent:

And then two quality utility players in Petschovski, and Amancio. Plus my guilty pleasure and wildcard, Alvaro Recoba. Who I think will be amazing.

It's a carefully curated squad, built according to the tactical preferences of the manager. Therefore, I fully expect Cappello to do something completely different, and promptly get us relegated in the first season.

 actually burst out laughing at that!

-------------------Southall
-------------------Sammer
-------------Hansen-----Costacourta
Carlos Alberto-------------------------Cabrini
------------Gerson---------Bremner
-------------------Maradonna
------------Sheaer--------Klinsman

Hopefully my manager doesn't get sacked as only winger I have in my team is Bebe.

 You're my hero.

Because we all know that is exactly what most of our managers are going to do. Te hours of research, and weeks of dedication to build that squad, effectively eviscerated within an hour of simulation. He'll probably sell Neymar and sign Bebe from Spontaneous.

In the other draft that went on with current players quite a few of the managers have sold loads of their squad and decided not to replace them

Look forward to this kicking off tomorrow! As long as I'm not bottom 5 of the title odds I'll be happy!

To be honest, this is what the world has been waiting for? Screw the Premier League.,.. small time that.

If we get half the excitement from this that I've had from the opening weekend without us even playing I'll be buzzing!

Won't be until tomorrow I still need finalize some DB things and then finish testing. My apologies I just returned home so a bit out of it at the moment

That's no worries mate looking forward to the initial update.

While @oneniltothearsenal gets over his wedding hangover :) ... "Players that nearly made the cut".

Clemence, Ray Kennedy, Luigi Meroni and the Muhren brothers (and not just because Arnold played for us for a bit at the end of his career). While my team selection may not show it, I DID do a little bit of research and found a story about Gerrie Muhren playing for Ajax ....

This in the middle of a European match, a semi-final, away to Real Madrid..... nice. That was some Ajax team.

Yeah, it was a lovely moment, one of the most iconic ones in the history of football. Like Carlos Alberto goal signified the victory of Joga Bonito over catenaccio, this was the moment that Ajax team became the most important team in the world.

Gerrie was some player, I think he actually scored a winner in the game (or maybe in the second game of the tie)

Aye, some display of dominance/show-boating given the sheer magnitude of the occasion and of course, the opponents.

Other examples would be Der Kaiser and of course, Jim Baxter.

Beckenbauer doing keepy ups in a serious match before it was cool (Muhren against Real being the famous one or Baxter who did it before against England in a friendly), and the score was 1-1 with Bayern hardly dominating
