Yeah, I'd expect that. The Cruyff exercise was more along the lines of "over the 8 seasons" or "with everyone in peak form". It looks very much a Cruyff side except that the plan was someone like Blanchflower instead of Haynes.
I don't know this one for certain but I'd bet Cruyff starts van Hanegem + Bakero/Rijkaard in your midfield. I also have a feeling its your fav Lucho who gets the short end on playing time

FM's AI in general will start more offensive players in midfield than you might expect. Its not about stats on that but the overall FM AI. You will see the AI errr in that direction on every player no matter who you pick as manager. Its just an odd FM slight bias to offensive play, probably to make video games more "exciting"
And mate, Fritz Walter is your guaranteed AMC for the first season. He is in his prime and (I think) he might even be your usual captain. Really one of the best picks of the draft that I didn't expect, Walter was.

It may not help Year 1, but should you and your manager survive that in the top flight/in charge it could work really well.
My youngest player must be Figo, who is probably 20. Problem is all 25 will be at an age when they need to play to develop properly and will likely want out if they aren't getting the first team football they need. I'd expect the teenagers will develop better with Youth team football and occasional cup appearances for a couple of years while that may not be good enough to get the likes of Figo and Romario to fulfill their potential at the stage they are in.
Bottomline though is I had zero interest in the more recent players we watch regularly, I liked the notion of bringing players back from their graves/retirement, particularly those rarely ever featured/rated in drafts.
