Final: Italy vs England

Better team won. Italy dominated the game. We/Southgate didn't build on our initial great start. Just fell further and further back. Cant remember a chance after Shaw's goal.

Bringing on Rashford and Sancho with 1 minute to go.

Selecting a 19 year old who was nervy and overwhelmed throughout the match as your 5th penalty taker.

What a travesty from Southgate. Absolutely appalling decisions. Well done to Italy.
Truly terrible from him on that, agreed.

The salt in here is immense. This was pretty much rigged for England to win, a "neutral" Euro that they played almost entirely in Wembley, plus the robbing of Denmark.
And still they find a way to lose. Damn.

Judging by all the shoot outs they always do. They don't fck about, they just leather it on target and it's past the keeper before they dive.
They also have fresher legs as they cover less ground throughout the match.

Why on earth people are insinuating Southgate 'forced' Saka to take a penalty I have no idea. He obviously volunteered.
May have volunteered after people like Sterling and grealish said no

Just look at Italy's bench. It's absolutely laughable they managed to win it and defeat Belgium, Spain and England in a row with such bench options. Belotti for feck sake, what a crap player to depend on as an attacking sub.

Not to mention their terrible luck losing Spinazzola and Chiesa.

It's a near miracle to be honest. Fecking congrats Italy. Congrats Mancini. Top manager.
Felt Spain were robbed against them. Also lots of decisions went there way today. Meh “champion” to be honest. Good against Belgium for 65 mins then went into diving mode.

Best team of the tournament won for sure. Surprisingly not that gutted, my local Pizza Express windows are safe.

Congrats to them, especially Jorghino, Emerson and Vialli!

Duffer always puts things into perspective!

It's mad as hell that he was the one taking the last one.

I feel that the game was lost mentally once Italy scored. They were on top for the rest of it and England were on the backfoot. There was a mental change, maybe even after halftime, tbf.
Aye, some here getting their knickers in a twist with Chiellini and his cynical foul... well, that's how you tell someone who's boss. Man's game and all that. Well worth a yellow.

They even found Eder to play his part in the ceremony. It just gets better and better.

You bring on two penalty takers with one minute left ???? They never even touched the ball

Southgate bottled it simple as that

Biggest bottlers from both teams was southgate, awful game management, whilst Mancini was making positive changes, southgate was stuck in playing it safe right to the very last minute when he hesitated to sub on sancho and rashford to the point that the penalty was basically their first kick of the match.

I knew saka was going to miss, the minute he came on he struggled and it was obvious that the stage was too much pressure for him to handle, let's face it he never experienced high pressure situations with a bang average mid table arsenal side.

No one to boo the Italian celebrations left in the stadium.

Cruel way to go out, god I hope no one starts the racist comments on those lads. They don’t deserve it! Italy overall deserved it in my opinion

England didn't capitalize on their first half pressure, then when Italy got hold of the midfield Southgate just stood there, we needed a 3rd CM but he took Rice off and brought Henderson on so nothing changed. Chiellini is such a thundercnut, should have been off for that foul on Saka, ref bottled it along with Mountgate. For all the fellating Jenas was giving our 2 midfielders the gulf in class between them and the Italians on the ball was so evident.

Thought Philips was very good, Rice was OK, but we got over run in there. The Italians played as they usually do, plenty of possession, but we snuffed them out in and around the box. We certainly need Bellingham to mature over the next few months, and include him in the team more often.

I thought he was nailed on NOT to take one, I couldn't fecking believe it when he stepped up fifth.
Same. The biggest one of the lot, and up pops Saka? Just appalling. His life will never be the same again after this, and not in a good way.

Mancini's subs and tactical change won them the game. Italy completely dominated possession after he took Barella off for that Roma lad and switched the formation.

Southgate just stood there looking clueless.

Everyone knows you need about 5 minutes to settle down nerves. It's no coincidence their pens were shit.
Agree, it’s really asking a lot from a 21 y/o to nail the country’s most important penalty since Lord Nelson’s days, when the poor guy hasn’t even touched the ball yet.

Wtf is a fckin child doing taking the 5th penalty? I'm fckin furious! Where's the senior pros? Where's sterling or grealish or stones? That's an outrageous decision, I'm absolutely gutted for saka. He should never have taken that. And Southgate of all people should've known better

And what the feck is going through Southgates mind when he subs in two penalty takers 1 minute before the end? They didn't even get to touch the ball before taking the most important penalty of their life. What an idiot.

Really hope Sakha, Rashford and Sancho don't get any abuse, let alone racist abuse on social media, unfortunately I fear they will. More needs to be done to prevent it happening.

That player of the tournie trophy if fecking horrid.

Dietmaar Hamann talking a lot of sense on Irish tv that Sancho and Rashford should never have been put on so late into that situation.

Penalties are a lottery though.

Italy missed two, one from a starter who is a penalty expert (Jorginho) and another who came on with half an hour to go (Belotti).

Means nothing really. England produced nothing for two hours.

Lampard saying “you have to give Raheem credit for saying “no, I’m not feeling it” is the worst take I’ve ever heard. He’s basically saying “nah, let the 19 year old take it”.

Doing something when you’re scared is the definition of character and bravery and today he’s gone way down in my estimation.

haha, you seem to be pretty mad, just chill dude, it's coming home someday! I mean, England and penalties, come on...we all know how this would go when ET was over

It's coooooming home! Your home = salt mine?
Nice try, nobody's mad or upset but one of us is acting like a dickhead.
Try growing up a bit and show a little of that class that's been mentioned so often this week.

I was rooting for England for the United lads, but Italy were miles better. England played for penalties. They were very poor.
