Final: Italy vs England

Absolutely nothing, coming on your clubs forum that happens to be English and being a smug twat is a different story all together.

Just people sharing their opinion.

Personally if I was an English fan I'd put all the blame on Southgate. He is holding you team back.

In my opinion there is no way you should go into the world cup with a new manager.

Why bring them (Rashford and Sancho) on 1 minute before the penalties? Surely you bring them on 5 minutes or 10 minutes before to get them warmed up and up to speed?

Why didn't more of the senior players step up to take one?

This.

Piss poor management there. Throw them on for 2 minutes of added time while one plays RB.
No way you can get into the flow of things that quickly.

Don't know why Saka was on the fifth. Poor lad looked nervous, especially considering Jorginho's miss

I’m not so sure this trick but subbing players at the last minute just for them to hit penalties, is such a good idea. Basically first ball touch is a super important penalty.

Everyone knows you need about 5 minutes to settle down nerves. It's no coincidence their pens were shit.

Absolutly shocking putting two players in for penalties that haven't played more then Phil Jones this tournament. I was written all over that they would miss.

Southgate have done lot of good but that was some wrong decision.

England didn't capitalize on their first half pressure, then when Italy got hold of the midfield Southgate just stood there, we needed a 3rd CM but he took Rice off and brought Henderson on so nothing changed. Chiellini is such a thundercnut, should have been off for that foul on Saka, ref bottled it along with Mountgate. For all the fellating Jenas was giving our 2 midfielders the gulf in class between them and the Italians on the ball was so evident.
This all day.

Yea Sterling and grealish must have bottled it.

In fairness, I'm Sterlings biggest supporter but if it was my choice I wouldn't let him in the stadium for peno's nevermind take one but yeah, they had to have been asked. No way GS refuses to offer them one when he Harry Maguire went 2nd.

Rashford and Sancho barely get a touch on the ball before they take the penalties. Not surprised that they miss.

Heads up guys...
We germans know how it feels...you can be proud of your team and if it is any uplift we allways lost a finale before we won a finale.
So looking at your still young and promising team they will hopefully take this as motivation - having a sniff at what could be to make it finaly happen. A well fought start to a journey.
It might feel like an end, but most great teams have proven that moments like this can be the start to something great.
So celebrate your teams effort and look for what is up ahead.

Were the more senior players not stepping up to take the kicks perhaps?

I'd fancy Henderson or Shaw to perhaps put one in (though I'd be rooting for Donnarumma to stop regardless of who takes).
Henderson was subbed off, which I found really odd.

I'm guessing Saka was a good penalty taker in training. No other explanation, he never takes them for Arsenal, was having a really bad performance, and it's his first international competition. It makes no sense at all.

Thoroughly deserved.

England were shit and Southgate plays cowardly shit football. Basically plays with 7 or 8 defensive players and relies on set pieces and long balls to create chances. Leaves excellent attacking options sitting on their hole on the bench while they get played off the pitch. Worse than Tony Pulis football.

Is he really? That’s so shit, Rashford is great. I don’t care about England but I’m sad he missed.

Yes.

1. LeBron James (Basketball) - 122,568

2. Marcus Rashford (Football) - 32,328

3. Tom Brady (American football) - 28,151

4. Kevin Durant (Basketball) - 24,370

5. Bubba Wallace (Nascar) - 21,750

If you're talking football only then its:

Rashford
Ronaldo
Ozil
Stan Collymore
Pogba

England should and could have done better in normal times with the attack talents they have.

Playing 3 5 2 with 2 DMs sitting....

I think Italy deserved that overall. Felt like Southgate waited for Italy to score before he reacted.

Weird penalty takers. Two of those three have barely played and Saka is 19. Still hard to be too upset. Very good tournament from England and gives believe for the World Cup.
Yeah agree with you. Just hoping those three lads don't get any abuse. Worried for Saka most of all. He was so devastated poor lad

Why on earth people are insinuating Southgate 'forced' Saka to take a penalty I have no idea. He obviously volunteered.

I wouldn't go that far, but yeah it's bad.

Italy have been the best team in this tournament and have knocked out great teams. But honestly felt they were there for the taking. To bring on Sancho and Rashford so late, with them barely getting a kick before being expected to score a pen in an international final, was poor.
