Final: Italy vs England

Gutted to be out. We’ve come so far and done so well, but we’ve been beat by the better team tonight so can’t say we’ve been hard done by. Well done to England for getting as far as they have done, big congratulations to Italy, they’ve been the best team at the Euros and deserve the trophy.

Southgate has made the right calls throughout this tournament. Tonight he made some errors, all linked to not making subs quick enough. It’s often that a player who has not had a touch of the ball doesn’t do well in penalties, Rashford and Sancho were too late to come on. Saka as a young lad has some serious guts to take the big penalty at the end but Southgate should have said no, that’s far too much pressure for a young boy, might take him a while to get over that.

Keep our chins up, far more positives than negatives this year. The haters can have their laugh tonight but we must keep our heads held high, make sure tonight is the motivation needed in Qatar!
 
Rashford's penalty was infuriating. Everyone knows you can't delay the shot that much. He waited fecking ages. You just put on more and more pressure on yourself the longer you wait, I feel.

Selecting a 19 year old who was nervy and overwhelmed throughout the match as your 5th penalty taker.

What a travesty from Southgate. Absolutely appalling decisions. Well done to Italy.

Judging by all the shoot outs they always do. They don't fck about, they just leather it on target and it's past the keeper before they dive.

Don't think it was cocky, if anything it was the complete opposite, keeper saw he had lost his nerve before he hit it and mind gamed him out of it.

He's barely used Sancho all tournament too. I thought I'd seen Sterling take them for City and I presume Henderson does for Liverpool if Milner not there? Grealish does he take them for Villa? Where was he?

What harm would giving Rashy and Sancho the last 10 minutes of extra time have done to get them up to speed?
 
Just look at Italy's bench. It's absolutely laughable they managed to win it and defeat Belgium, Spain and England in a row with such bench options. Belotti for feck sake, what a crap player to depend on as an attacking sub.

Not to mention their terrible luck losing Spinazzola and Chiesa.

It's a near miracle to be honest. Fecking congrats Italy. Congrats Mancini. Top manager.

I hoped Southgate would pull a rabbit out of the hat, but he confirmed what most people suspected, he is holding these players back. I feel extremely sad for Rashford, Sancho and Saka. Nobody deserves what the assholes on social media are going to put them through. I hope for every abusive comment there are 100 comments of support for these brave lads who stepped up.
 
Dietmaar Hamann talking a lot of sense on Irish tv that Sancho and Rashford should never have been put on so late into that situation.

Rashford and Sancho came on at the 118th minute ! Do you think it wasn't implied they would take one penalty ??? They didn't have to volunteer, that's the sole reason they were sent on thanks to the genius in charge. Who is that mysterious best penalty taker ? Kane ? Fine, then Maguire take the fifth.
It's terribly sad for Saka, he didn't ask for all of this and neither did Rashford or Sancho. You will never have a better opportunity to get rid of that clown. Leave him off the bus with the specimens that will roam the streets of London tonight.
 
I supported Italy but didn't want to lose united lads like that in front of their fans. We can get rid of Southgate at least.
 
Best team of the tournament won for sure. Surprisingly not that gutted, my local Pizza Express windows are safe.

It's a CRIME how little Grealish played this Euro's. I mean he turnes 26 soon. Not a youngster.
 
People will talk about the (missed) penalties, but when the game was in Englands hands, ultimately Southgate chose to 'wait and see' what would happen. Unbelievable that Saka came on before Grealish, Grealish came on so late, and up to the 119th min, only 3 subs had been made!
 
Southgate let himself down tonight. Even at half time he should of made changes but we rode our luck and rode it further after Italy scored. Mount offered nothing, sterling was making all the wrong choices and Phillips was running on empty. Saka was not the player to come on.

I don't know what Sancho has done to piss Southgate off.. ran the game against Ukraine but couldn't get ahead of saka who had one good game against the Czech, went missing against Germany and was absent against Denmark.

Maybe this is my overreacting but for 80 minutes we were passed around and lucky to make it to extra time
