Final: Italy vs England

Feel so sorry for Sancho, Saka and Rashford. Two of them sent on cold to a highly pressured situation and a young lad who has looked understandably overwhelmed in the last couple of games. Shudder to think of the abuse that all three will face next year and only hope that the Arsenal and United fans get behind them and they can respond like Beckham did all those years ago.
They're gonna get racial abuse

Honestly despite sharing a club with some of you cnuts I'd expect better from rawk with all the anti English stuff im seeing right now.

Southgate, once again, fecks up penalties.

You have Sterling and Grealish and you send the boy Saka on to take a penalty.

No way Southgate chose that, he'd have asked the players, you could clearly see him asking Grealish before the shootout. Tough one to swallow.

Surprised Grealish didn't step up for the 5th. You just never fancied Saka there. Devastating.

I don't think subbing Sancho and Rashford just to take penalties was wise. The look on their faces before they came on - I was sure they'll miss.

Feel horrible for saka. A bad performance and tasked for the final pen? The manager arranges the order right?

That being said Donnaruma is a beast in goal.
The manager arranges it but do not forget that Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Harry Mguire all had a voice to volunteer to take the final pen. And they all looked at the sky while a kid was getting thrown under the bus. Disgraceful. He should resign if he as an ounce of honor in his body.

As an Italy fan and somebody who really dislikes English football I surprisingly feel sorry. This is a good team and it is a bit cruel for them to loose like this at home after penalties. Destiny is cruel to England when it comes to tournaments.

Coming Rome, I guess. No pressing the italian possession costed you guys the cup. They were no match for your players fitness.

Whatever your thoughts on Saka, putting him on such a high pressure penalty after his terrible performance is nothing short of disgraceful management.

And feck off to all the wankers who will inevitably give racist abuse to those three players who missed.

Who's genius idea was it to put a 19yr old who had a terrible game as the 5th penalty taker in a European Cup final. What in the feck is that?
I thought he was nailed on NOT to take one, I couldn't fecking believe it when he stepped up fifth.

To all the posters (and that's the majority on here) who were supportive of Scotland, or at least silent when we went out: England were unlucky. You have a genuinely talented bunch of players who will come again. World Cup is only a year away, you're contenders.

To all those posters who only found their way onto the Scotland thread when we had went out: get in !!!!! England losing in the final on penalties - you love to see it!

I'm fecking gutted.

Southgate fecked it with the subs. Was obvious quite quickly that the occasion was too big for Saka, and far too much pressure put on Rashford and Sancho for the shootout by leaving it so late to bring them on.

There is no logic in letting a 19 year old take the final kick. Poor Saka's confidence will be totally shot - did not deserve that.

5 penalty takers and you get a centre half, two players who played a combined 6 minutes of the game and a sub who did nothing right all game on the list.

fecking braindead.
Unreal if they are turned into the villains because of this. Very poor decision from Southgate and it should be on him.

2 saves for England. Should have been winnable because of that.

Sorry for immediately going for the doom button but if some idiotic supporters can trash their capital city before the match... I hope the Italian fans get out sharpish before the lager louts get to them.

But, bringing things back on track. England made a major tournament final again. It's a step up and these players are young. You just need a manager that makes better use of your attacking strength.

Top pens those.

United all over that unfortunately. At least there's strength in numbers and it isn't just one player hung out to dry.

Southgate has fecking blown that, and I hope he gets called on it. He won't though, because the country led by the press went completely batshit mental for Churchill, St George and Sir Gareth. I'm absolutely done hearing about this now, onto United where we'll hopefully see Shaw and H kick on, Rashford to rediscover his touch and Sancho to prove Gareth to be a decent man, decent national coach as they go but absolutely not the fecking messiah he's being made out to be.
