Gaming Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth (PS5)

Did you in Remake? Honestly can't remember. Not really short on MP so far with the mixed potions and stuff.

Yeah. On normal mode you did and then on Hard mode you didn't. Seems like they've changed it where you can only restore now but items or at the chocobo stops.

Music is amazing. Card game is good. I've only just got past the flashback opening chapter, feels a bit slow but hopefully picks up.

Is it just me or does it look like the player model for Cloud look like he isn't complete? Like they reverted back to any older model because of technical reasons. He looks great in the pause menu and during cut scenes, but when you're playing he looks a bit less textured?

Just finished the quest where you have to go to the other side of the map to pick something up and return it back. Loved it.
The shift to Hollow when the terrain changed. Brilliant.

I'm sorry, what?

Right now it feels a lot like Fetch Quest Fantasy 7: Ubisoft Edition. 1000 filler quest icons on the map.

Still a great game and combat feels levels above Remake but game is hugely bloated and padded so far.

Not far in though just after Chocobo farm.

Combat is excellent. I do think the intel stuff is a wee bit annoying but I get why they've done it to make the open world a bit more open and not empty. It's mostly fun but I imagine in the latter chapters it may get a bit tedious depending! On chapter 3 now, it's on track for a 9/10 for me so far though.

The opening segment is fantastic. You can tell this is made by people who loved the original.

Not looking forward to the open-world "bloat" that people are talking about though.

The mini games really come alive well and truly in chapter 4. Some bloody annoying moments.

The game is big. I have sunk around 19 hours into it and I'm apparently only midway through chapter 4. Have thus far completed every side quest/intel/mini game etc though.

This is my worry, I’m only on chapter 2 so far as I’m just trawling through all the side stuff. Nothing is missable apparently so I may just blast few a through chapters tomorrow.

Chapter 4 Mini-Game Spoilers

Jumpfrog - oh lord, this one pissed me off. I kept getting knocked off at around 1:05 but eventually managed a 1:21 to get the highest rank.

Fort Condor is back...but I don't like the way they did it in this one. It's much better in the Yuffie DLC. Also apparently there are no rewards for doing the hard mode so feck that.

Queens Blood - Love it! The best card game or mini game they've done in a long time.

Piano - Not sure how anyone can get a perfect score. It's ridiculous. I did manage A rank though and I've seen people say to get the trophy you only need As.

Chapter 4

Roche is so annoying

loving it so far. Did pretty much all the side quest stuff in grasslands, not so much in Junon as I wanted to progress the main story.

After 2 days of arguing with idiots at Amazon I finally got my deluxe edition pre-order bonuses. (Well, order was for a friend but my order)

They were meant to send 2 codes, one for a Shinra Bangle and another for a Midgar Bangle.. They sent 2 codes for the Shinra. When I enquired they had no idea what I was talking about and kept telling me only pre-orders got the Midgar Bangle (I got it on release day so obviously a pre-order)

They sent me another code..... code invalid.
Sent me another code... again for Shinra Bangle.

Then had them say you got codes, we don't understand what is the issue.

Finally got an email last night saying "we made a mistake, sorry. Here are your two codes"

Are Amazon always this rubbish with Pre-order exclusives codes?

Have played for ten hours but only just finished the side content in chapter 2. Some of its not that inspiring but none of it outstays it's welcome and you get useful stuff for doing it which is key. Plus there is a lot of variety. I also enjoyed that gang from the first game coming back as a bit of light relief for that one quest.

Somehow they have managed to improve the combat from remake with the synergy stuff and red xiii feels really strong to use in combat.

Also enjoying them using some music from crisis core in the open world areas.

Absolutely loving it. Amazes me that the company can make such a stinker in ff16 sandwiched in between remake and rebirth.

All I will say is they better not continue down this path of cloud and Tifa falling out.

Phoenix is really hard, I can barely beat him on -1 power

Awesome fight though, unlike FF16, they managed to "steal" FF14 raid mechanics quite well in this so far.

The fort condor isn't as good as in INTERmission, but the art style and way they implemented it into the game is awesome. Great nod to the original.

Think it's completely different teams making FF16 and the remakes right? Not sure actually.

Oh and the card game seems ok but it also feels like the most important asp CT so far is bum rushing the board rather than worrying about boosting cards etc.

It is yeah.

I honestly had no idea how huge this game was gonna be! I'm really enjoying it but I do think they could tone it down with the unnecessary padding. Love the ridiculous amount of mini games in this though, Queens Blood is actually really good.

Also I'm not the only one who doesn't like Chadley right?

This snake is really busting my ass.

Queens Blood is awesome!

not sure how I feel about the open world bloat. I get they wanted to improve on the overly linear first game but this feels too far in the other direction.

Jumpfrog is awesome. I love the attention to detail in these minigames.

The satisfaction of finishing off that huge snake is indescribable after it had been riding my ass for so long.
