FIFA World Cup 2010

Mine either go straight into the keeper's hands, or miles wide. This is the best penalty system they could come up with?

They're much better. It takes some actual composure to score one. Try the practice mode to get to grips with it, it gives you a radar to show you where your shot is heading.

Though, I've just seen your list of things you find difficult so I think you should just be happy if you even find the practice mode within the game.

The one thing i can't do properly since the transition to world cup is lobs. They are nowhere near as easy to pull off this time round.

They are trickier, which is better in my opinion. The keepers don't rush out but they're harder to pull off anyway (which, lets face it, they are in real life too). On FIFA 10 it was really annoying that this type of shot worked 99 times out of 100 in a 1 v 1 situation and that so many goals went in like this.

Bang on. This game is an improvement over FIFA 10 (which improved over 09) and even though the changes are only minor/subtle, it gives you a little bit more satisfaction knowing that you have worked for your goals.

Still some way to go to make it the perfect football game, but it bodes well for FIFA 11

I agree it's much better that they're harder. But it was the shock when i first tried one and it floated off in some random direction.

I haven't played a FIFA game in 10 years. Forgive my ineptness.

When are we going to have a match Lance? We can battle it out to see who is the worst Caf Fifa player.
Today, if you're up for it. I think I have lured you in far enough with my claims of being completely terrible.

I wish.

I should be able to give you a game later, if not I can definitely play on Sunday evening.

What rating is Rooney in this game?

Speaking of ratings, is John Carew still inexplicably amazing like he is on Fifa10?

Piece of shit has frozen on me three more fecking times today, twice during the fecking final first time i was winning 3-0 with 20 minutes to go and second (which literaly just happend) i actualy won the fecking thing 3-1 and it decides to freeze during the fecking cut scene celebrations meaning it didnt fecking save or give me the fecking achievement.

I have had enough of this piece of shit from EA, happens atleast once everyday I play it. I'm going to vent my anger in an email to them, that or my xbox is going to be thrown off a cliff.

Aaaaaaah, finally won the online World Cup with Australia :D

I can move on now..

Still cannot master penalties. :(

I struggled alot early on, but it's quite easy once you nail that first penalty. Just gotta make sure you get as close to the green bar as possible, and when you push down the shoot button you determine at the same time how hard the shot will be. After you have powered up, then you choose where to place it with the left stick.

Taking penalties in practice mode is easy, but in real matches is really hard. I know the trick and it still misses. But yes, getting it as close to the green bar is vital.

£22 cash, £28 credit.
Where?

Don't quit yet, we've still got to set the standard for the worst online match of fifa in history.

I wouldn't dream of it.

My problem with this game is that I'm a terrible loser. It's different to say, a game like GTA where I am in complete control of the character and if I feck up, it's my fault. I never feel totally in control with FIFA, so when I lose, the toys get launched out the window.

IT WASN'T MY FAULLLLLLTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!

My neighbours hear that a lot.

I am loving this game but online only, it's too easy in single player (even on legendary).

I usually play with Italy - what I've noticed is when playing online World Cup, so many people choose a team like Uganda or Estonia and get really pissed off when I beat them (they always quit after going 2-0 down). Why play with shite 1 star teams if you don't want to lose?!

For the achievement, most likely.

Some people online are just cocks. I played one guy and he was taking the piss when 1-0 up by doing keepups with his keeper etc. Served him right when I made a late comeback to go 2-1 up and kept possession for the remaining 15 minutes :D He then messages me sayin I'm shit (though I won :wenger:) and challenged me to another game. I accept and beat him again, then he complains that I was Spain both times (Brazil / France not good enough? :wenger:) so I say I'll match his team so we both play as Holland and it's 3-0 in 30 minutes and then quits. One final game and I'm about 7-0 up and he just forfeits. I message him stating I'm bored of kicking his ass and he floods my inbox calling me a fifa geek. So basically you're shit if you lose and you're a geek if you win. Ha.

It's quite rare to not receive a message these days after a game, win or lose.

I get that all the time too. I can't believe how some people get so wound up by losing a video game football match.

It's more challenging playing as lesser sides. I played though with France and England and it's not much of a challenge against most people. Getting to the semi-finals and then losing 1-0 to Brazil with Lithuania was much more enjoyable.

Absolutely.

It shows a lack of imagination playing with the big clubs all the time. I won it with Ivory Coast but I tend to play with teams 4* or less now. Like you say, much more challenging, much more rewarding and absolutely satisfying when you dick Brazil or Spain by 3 or 4

My point was, people who play with lesser teams but then lose and follow up the defeat with an abusive message to me. If you don't want to lose, choose a better team and/or don't play shit.

Ah fair enough, i very rarely send messages to people after games. Ive said good game a few times, but i don't see the point in sending abuse. It's a game at the end of the day no need to get too wound up by it.

Yes I agree mate. I usually play as Italy, even though they're a 5 star team, they haven't got the pace & power of France/Spain/England etc. So I usually play a nice, simple passing game and try to win fairly. I had a cracking game the other night against some lad who was Brazil. I ended up winning 2-1 and he sent me a nice message saying "Great match!".

This is what it's all about for me, not the winning, but the enjoyment of the game.

Some kids I play are clueless when it comes to football though. They usually choose Spain and just lump the ball to Torres, who then decides to just try and take all of my defenders. It really frustrates them when they can't bulldoze through and they usually either quit or send me an abusive message.
