Gaming FIFA 17

I don't give a shit about the visual side of things(kits, badges) they're things that will be irrelevant after week 1. I want some sort of collective progression other than getting promoted, that will give you something for your club to work towards.

For the past five years when I've played pro clubs, we usually see how long we can go unbeaten then make a new club and do the same again. There's no reward for maintaining a club other than a record that nobody cares about.

They should make the any players actual players, give you coins for each win/promotion and allow you to buy better players with the coins. Put legends at the very top level. Boom, progression!

A lot of the accomplishments are a joke btw - so many are unrealistic/unachieveable. The current player creation system is also stupidly shallow. Why can't I have a tall fast player?
Agree with these points - would love to see development applied to the club as a whole - so even your AI players improved the more games you played (goalkeepers in particular). It should be that your club has, say, 3 keepers. It could even be done pretty crudely - one young (low skill but faster development), one average, one veteran (higher skill, declining development) and then you could switch them around. It's annoying when your keeper in Pro Clubs does something stupid - but if you knew they were at least receiving development points after each game, at least you would think there was hope! Instead, you get a different random keeper each match - sometimes a 21 year old, sometimes a 40 year old!

With regard to the rating - I also agree with Lennon in that it is currently flawed, so I hope they address this. As it stands, it would mainly be the goal scorers who progress the fastest - the game doesn't reward each position fairly.

I'm really looking forward to playing this mode this week - think it's Thursday that the beta launches.

United's preliminary player ratings. Interesting ones:

de Gea: 91 (!)
Ibrahimovic: 90
Mkhitaryan: 87
Pogba: 87
Smalling: 85
Bailly: 82
Rashford: 76

Regardless of anything else, this trailer they just released has gotten me excited. If not for anything, but the song choice! Takes me, and probably everyone else back, to 1998!

You'll know what I mean when you hear it! ;) :D
Good trailer!

Mkhitaryan is 87?! Damn!?! That's Rating him as good as Pogba.
De Gea and Ibra is justified.

Bastian being 86 and Pogba being 87, something is weird about that when seen side by side.
Likewise, Rooney should still not be 86 at all!

United getting the City treatment now that we are partners with EA, so obvious
Ibra, De Gea, Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Smalling, Shaw, Rashford, Martial are all pretty fair IMO. Smalling possibly should be 84 but not huge difference. Schweiny and Rooney laughably high. Should be 83 max for both.

He was 85 on 16 and had an amazing season so it makes sense. Rooney and Schweiny are pretty funny though

I'd have thought Martial would have been a bit higher, especially being on par with Herrera.

Any idea when the playable demo is out. I really didn't like 16, but I may persist with 17 a bit and just accept how I do

Advantages of partnership with EA. ;) After several years, United won't be shit on FIFA

Think Rooney and Schweinsteiger are the only odd ratings, but judging how long EA kept Ferdinand and Vidic ratings as the best cbs in the game it's not surprising.

It's like a lot of players are one or two OVR points too high.

I really really hope EA try to encourage or do more for 'all manual' players out there.

It's disappointing when you can't find any manual players to play with online.

Agreed. Also don't get why they can't add the filter on UT. It can't be hard and would encourage more players onto the mode if they didn't feel it was against them

De Gea should just be ignored

Although he does have a rating of 91 in FIFA17 which will presumably be the third highest after Ronaldo/Messi
Third highest will probably be Suarez.

I never get excited for a new fifa, but with our new ratings (definitely not because of the new deal) and with Rio, Scholes and Ole as legends I think I'm getting a little bit pumped for this. FFS.

Martial should probably be slightly higher, and Bastian lower. Shaw should be 82 and Darmian 79. Rooney should obviously be lower but they'd never do that.

Hopefully Rashford has fairly high stats in the right places (finishing, dribbling, acceleration) but probably not.

Don't know why I've written all this because I don't really give a shit.

Likely true, but we were pretty shit on paper in real life too.

I edit all our stats to make them more realistic anyway.

Overalls are fairly meaningless though, Rooney was around 87-88 in the lasr one game and completelt garbage while Martial was fun to play with despite having below 80 overall. It's important how the stats are distributed.

[Insert random pace fiend joke]

How come Reus is on the cover instead of Messi ?
Contracts/licenses come and go my friend.

They let people vote who'd be the cover star out of Reus, Martial, James and Hazard. I think Messi and Barcelona are signed up with PES now.

Depends how the game will be played. If crossing is overpowered then we'd be good because of Ibra.

Last time we were good was on FIFA 09. Putting Ronaldo as striker and he was amazing. With Ronaldo you can abuse crossing or pace.

Going to buy it on two formats this year. Want to use legends on UT, so will play UT on XB1. PS4 for pro clubs.

Rooney is actually good on FUT if you play him as CM. Probably one of the best in the game.

AI improvements. I need to see it. Will they actually track runners or let them in behind as usual? Will the CMs constantly burst forward and leave you wide open?

So many questions.

Will they nerf the totally OP kick-off method of trying to dribble all the way to the goal?

It'll probably have good engine, demo will be much slower than 16 and well balanced, we'll all absolutely love it but all the FUT 15-year old nerds who steal their parents money and spend it on packs will complain and moan about wanting a faster, more arcadey game and the first update will remove all the joy. Rinse and repeat, happens every single year since at least 14.

World Cup 2010 was their best game. Then last year's demo and 15 for the first 2-3 weeks were very enjoyable. It always ends up to be the same fast, scripted, arcade shite.

Watch them do all of fancy shit in demo just for 17 to suck dick in the retail version.

I'm not buying this shit until 2-3 months in.

I thought the final version last year was pretty slow, tbh. Or is the gameplay different on Seasons and FUT?

Even though I hate Fifa 16 with a passion, I'm not going to kid myself in saying I won't buy this. An updated football game is something I need in my collection, and Fifa has no competition unfortunately.

Marco Reus playing FIFA 17. Looks a bit too fast to me. One positive is that through balls finally seem possible. It was impossible to thread the ball through in 16.

One of my biggest gripes was through balls on 16. Could never feed it between two defenders, it's either cannoned off the first defender or behind the striker. Through balls off the wing into the channel were never pulled off either, such a flawed game.

Eh? Through balls were pretty good in 16, 15 was ridiculous, every attempt got to their man, 16 just made it so you had to time it properly like in real football.
