Gaming FIFA 17

the Beta's always play well. I remember being really impressed with the last 2 demo's and then suddenly it's released and patched and feels bad again.

Hopefully this time they keep it the same, promising start anyway.

Beta wasn't that great last year

Not a chance.

The way I see it, make the most of a good game before EA turn it to mush.

Ultimate Team completely ruined Fifa.

Every year when the game first comes out it feels unique in certain ways to it's predecessors but after what, two months, they release a big patch that completely wrecks the unique feel and makes it feel just like all the other games that have come out on current gen consoles, so the gameplay caters to their cash cow, Ultimate Team.

Of course, I'm going to get it anyway despite that, the first two months are always fun at least :wenger:

It played better than the game does now that's for sure - which is exactly the problem. 16 was the worst since for 10 years IMO

Are you guys sure it doesn't just get worse because people online start to figure the cheap tricks?

In the single player game I played last night, I scored a goal with Mkhitaryan that reminded me of Ibra's goal last weekend. It wasn't as far out, but was just outside the box. But the shot went along the ground and into the corner of the goal. I don't recall seeing a goal like that in 16 - goals from outside of the box usually went into the top corner. Was refreshing to see something different.

I also scored a really good leaping header in Pro Clubs - I saved the clip but can't share it unfortunately. But again, it felt like a very different goal from what I had seen in 16.

Actually - saw quite a few headed goals last night. The crosses definitely feel much improved - more swing and pace to them.

Really looking forward to playing more games this eve - will try and join a club and see what changes have been made there.

Is there a way to intentionally shoot along the ground? Or is it determined based on player position, etc.

Also, have you tried out the new curved through balls?

I think they have something called driven shot. I remember watching it in the promos with Martial...

Yep,
Here it is. You can finish low, and even slot finesse it low. If they have it in their promos, they'll definitely have it in the game.

I haven't played this game since about FIFA 10 but even then this was a feature. Ffs they literally take out features and put them back in as 'new'. It's pathetic.

Yeah, you just had to press the button twice.

Will try and find a source, I've played manual since 08 but it's definitely nowhere near as hard as it used to be.

Agree with this. Manual obviously allows more freedom but there's a definite agree of assistance involved that's hard to describe unless you've played previous versions of the game

Nah, it's never been a feature. I've been wanting it for years. You could never shoot from outside the box low and hard, and the only time you could shoot low inside the box was by putting feck all pace on it. It's a brand new feature.

Double tap was definitely a ground shot, back when I used to play. On PC.

It still is in FIFA 16, but that's more of "roll the ball under the keeper" type shot. There's no way to do driven, powerful shots on the ground.

If you double tapped it was the same as doing one tap. It put on no power at all, albeit a ground shot.

One of the most common finishes in real football is a low hard strike into the bottom corner, usually across goal. That's never been possible in FIFA further than 10 yards.

I'm sure if you held L2 or R2 while shooting it made it a low shot. Either that or I've completely lost it.

I'm going with the latter
L2 did a trick shot, R2 did nothing for shooting.

Had a penalty shootout last night and they have really redone the penalties, gonna take some practice

Oh, it appears I may be in the beta, my brother got the email saying he was in for Seasons, and it's downloaded on my xbox too as we game share  Didn't think that would happen tbh.

Edit: Ah it doesn't work I don't think.

What do people think of the beta? I'm more of a PES guy but if FIFA is considerably better than last year I might get both.

I don't play online other than against friends. But against the AI it was much improved from the beta.

You power up the shot by using the shoot button for your power then press the shoot button again for a low driven shot.

I'm impressed with it so far. However, went to play it this evening and it says it requires me to update it to play, update file is 29GB.

What an absolute fecking joke.

The whole concept of it (invisible target), or just the progressiveness / intensity of the target movement?

Right stick moves the player closer or further away from the ball, changes angle of run up, then push left stick up to start run up, then left stick u place the ball while powering up with shoot button (circle)

Oh wow... have you figured out how angle and distance in run up affect accuracy or ease to shoot left x right? It must somehow I guess, otherwise its just a gimmick and everyone will just shoot from default position (I bet 90% of people still will).

Great deal. Got FIFA & Battlefield myself. £35 each is a relative bargain.
You save around £7 each game, it's not that great is it? I swear you can get download codes when the games are out for £30, but I'm probably wrong.

So are we to assume based on the bit about stadiums in that career mode review that stadiums won't always be full? It's always been a pet hate of mine that every seat is filled regardless of who's playing, would be a realistic touch to have some empty seats about the place.
