Gaming FIFA 17

I don't believe in scripting. This game is just poorly designed in some aspects. Before people say, how could a company with resources like EA have poor design? Remember that this game has had a kit glitch in FUT since day one. They've had 2 patches to fix this. It's still not fixed.

So I don't believe in scripting. There's just lots of dodgy game mechanics. Even further increased with the new frostbite engine.

I do believe in momentum though, but I've started to believe less and less in this too after some counter arguments from people.

Edit: Not saying that BS does not happen. It definitely does.
FUT features a much more noticeable more amount of "momentum" or "scripting" than seasons. It's clear as day.

With FUT it doesn't kick in straight away, you can play it happily until you get through a few seasons. You get to a point though where the game just turns against you, players become slow and weak, touches become heavy and loose, tackles get missed and headers are lost. The opposition can shoot from practically any angle it seems to go in, if they get a corner towards the end of the game it's bound to go in if they aim it to the right place.

So many things point towards it being scripted, it's nothing to do with a user being tired or losing focus etc. Game mechanics should be visable in every minute all through the game, that doesn't happen. You can see/feel a noticeable swing.

Decided to do a couple of SBC's last night for the first time and got Pogba out of a pack. Delighted.

I'm now in a conundrum whether to cash in to help fund buys for Hazard and Aguero (and another 100k or so).

Do people prefer him as a CM or a CAM?
Pogba is the best player I've used in fifa 17. Keep him! And play him at CAM

The scripting is insane now that I think of it. I was 1-0 up after 90 mins and obviously the game wants him to equalize. It becomes impossible to stop it when the opposition shoots towards goal. He was faced away from the goal and I pushed Butland out towards him. And of course he shoots brtween his legs and scored. After that my players felt like zombies and I lost 3-0 on penalty shootout. Brilliant

He had 2 shots, I had 18

I don't think it's actual scripting. I think it's the momentum they have tried working into the game being ridiculously overpowered.

They always struggle to not overpower certain aspects and this year it is the momentum.

The way I seem to see games going is like this. (Might end up a long post)

Start the game both teams are even..

If I am on top but he gets a few last ditch tackles in his team get better at last ditch blocks and tackles in a backs to the wall kind of performance. (See burnley/stoke v man utd)

If I score 1/2 early but then don't add to the lead his team slowly grows back in to the game and begins to take control. (See United 1-1 draw sequence)

If i'm up by 1 in the last minutes his team becomes ridiculously good at attacking and if they score are more likely to go on to win it. (See United v boro)

Now don't get me wrong I think it's just as annoying as the rest of you but I don't think the game is meant to function like it is. Just that EA can't get the balance right and so these sort of things happen too often compared to real life and I think if they toned it down by 30-40% it would feel like it was much more realistic.

I think this years is probably the worst it's ever been on reflection. The online element is infuriating beyond belief.

Pro evolution 6 is still the best football game ever made IMO, and we are now a few generations beyond that and they just can't get a football game spot on.

Sounds right

Agree about it being the worst. Certain players are wayyyyy too overpowered and everyone are using them. Momentum is ruining the game as well, making almost every game tight.

I think fifa 12 or pes08 were the best

I don't agree. I've had lots if games where I've been battered 4/5 - nil and also loads where I've done the same to others.

As for best football game fifa 03 still holds a place in my heart along with fifa 99.

Of the modern generation fifa 08 was excellent. Think I was actually among the top ranking players back then when I had time to devote to it.

Some of the clear signs of scripting in the game is quite obvious. Ever see the keeper doing that weird shuffle towards a deflected shot that's going out for a corner when he could jog over and pick up the ball easily? Or when you're defending a 1 goal lead in the 88th minute and get a free in midfield and your whole team decides to pile into the opponent's box or how corners are probably more of a goalscoring opportunity for the defence on the counter rather than the team actually taking the corner.

The game is designed around ping-pong end to end counter attacks.

This year is definitely a low for the core game mechanics. If there's hope to be had, its that in migrating to the new engine we probably got a less refined product than otherwise, but that we can get refinement in following editions. Also the game looks spectacular. I know its not what we really want, but its an element of the game.

PES5 and PES6 are favorites of mine too. Great core mechanics, loads of fun to play. Would bang out games vs the AI like there was no tomorrow. And to relate to 'momentum', obviously those games had randomness but you never felt it was contextual (i.e. leading, trailing, early, late). I always remember getting knocked out of a college tourney by a guy playing 5 ATB (yes, was already a thing) where I had a cross to an open striker in which no animation loaded and the ball just hit him, and another couple of good chances go over the bar. Because of the countless hours with the game though, I never thought the game had in any way been biased against me. I just got unlucky in those moments.

But I'll offer that a few FIFA games have had really good mechanics too, and WC 2010 comes to mind. I also remember playing that one well beyond the actual tournament being over. Was a bit of a goal fest, impossible to defend at times, but still a lot of fun and not that much sense of being favored or not by anything contextual.

08 was great. I was only 11 but had just discovered online gaming and that's when I started playing a lot

It's funny how I purposely don't shoot a lot now in order to not make the game think I'm dominating in an attempt to not get momentum against me. I only shoot when I'm almost certain I'm going to score. Also, I only take short corners to not get too many attempts. It works brilliantly. If I just let the game be more tight than my usual attempts at trying to dominate, it's just so much easier.

The fact that I have to do this speaks a lot about how broken the game is.

2010 WC is the best FIFA for me.

Sounds to me like you are broken and not the game. To believe in scripting is like believing in God - no substance behind it. Momentum and mindset is all there is to it.

Yes! that was such a great game. God knows why they never kept that game engine for a proper FIFA game, it felt so smooth, quick and agile. I remember winning the world cup with France and got really close with Chile.

This was the case with me until I learned I to take close post corners, it also helps that Costa is beast mode on corners, every corner is either knocked out for another one saved or in the back of the net, more often than not it's another corner over and over again, has to be in swinging corners though, works better.

:lol::lol::lol::lol: First game of the weekend league, this guy plays the most boring possession style all game, scores at the start of the second half, then right away passes the ball back to his goalkeeper and sits there and waits for me to come and does that shit to drag out the game. First time I get the ball back I score, then right after kick off score another and then he quits instantly despite him just being 1 goal down. What a dickhead some people in this game are. Definitely the worst part about Fifa is the actual people who play the game and how they play it.

OK what is this pack business? I saw on instagram "guys reaciton when he gets Suarez in a pack" and it looked fun.

I just play Division mode and got bored after reaching 1. Is there another element of the game I'm unaware of?!

Pretty much the main thing in Fifa now. Buy packs > get players > build teams > rage at the injustice of losing to a cnut who uses Musa.

Those Fifa reaction videos are the bane of Youtube. Watch one Fifa-related video and you're infested with those cnuts on your recommended page.

buy packs? That sounds turd. I'd have much preferred a concept where you play in leagues online of rubbish players, and get points for winning games. An accumulation of those points can make you buy a pack etc. Is that what this is? Or is this just literally buying packs with money.

You can buy them with coins or with money. You get coins after games basically and then from buying and selling players. Buying packs is generally a waste of coins though. Most people just buy players and sell them to make profit

Yes you can earn points by playing games, winning leagues and tournaments. They also have a packs for real money option, which is how they make so much money.

Started off with 2 wins, now im on a 3 loss run. Just played a cnut that shot from impossible anhles all day to abuse the rebound thing and it paid off almost every time. Thats one think they really need to fix, annoying as feck.

Excellent thanks.

Why would anyone even bother buying with real money, it defeats the entire purpose of the game FFS.

Reminds me of people who completed Pokemon Go and started selling their profiles on craigslist

FIFA is definitely not something you should play if you want to improve your overall hopes for humanity. The behavior is generally worst than in any other thing I do that I somehow interact with people.

People don't have the patience of playing and would rather buy a team. There's also a chance you can get a Ronaldo or something and then never have to worry about money again.

So close to getting my SBC Lacazette. Just need to finish off Toulouse which is a pain in the ass cause their defense is pretty much none existent on the market!

The purpose of Ultimate Team is to build a team that will help you win games. If you were not to spend a penny, you will be waiting until the next Fifa comes out before you build anything worthwhile, as you get feck all coins for winning games. Or at least, you would need to have no life and play the game constantly to build up any sort of coinage that would go towards buying the best players.

I don't spend real money on it. Work constantly and still have a top team. Weekend league helps massively

Not really.. maybe before but with the weekend league if you are a "pretty good" player and get to gold 2 in the league, that's basically 100k from the weekend. 45k plus the 3 packs that even if you pull shit from them, still give you back basically 40k, and then another 25k from playing 40 games. Do that once a month and you'll have basically 300k at least just from playing the weekend league 3 times since the game came out and doing nothing else. I'm not going to do the weekend league every weekend, but you can get quite a bit of coins while still being a pretty casual player.

My 2 teams combined cost probably 750k for example, though I did spend $15 on points once since it came out (and get weekly packs for pre-ordering the game). I did get a few lucky pulls from packs though.

Renato Sanches is completely broken in this. Some garbage 78 overall should not be the reincarnation of Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira.

The last four goals I've conceded have been rebound goals. It's a fecking shambles how that ball auto-locks to the most conveniently-placed attacking player on the field. That being said, I have scored my share of goals in added time and even a rebound goal of my own to balance it out.

The abundance of rebound and added time goals are a clear indication that there's at least some sort of trickery in the background influencing the outcome of the game. It's been a recurring problem for years now. At some point it stops being a coincidence. Those two are the most obvious ones I can think of, but I have suspicions about other things too, like how loose balls seem to constantly lock to one team during periods of the game after tackles and wayward passes. If they've added scripts to influence those parts of the game, chances are they've added more too.

Yep. I hate it even though I use him in my bundesliga team. Like hes only 4.5k so obviously I will but I hate how broken some aspects of this game are. A few players like him, rebound shots, the momentum shite.... Basically thats the main things. Once they fix that it will feel so much better for sure. Rebound shots especially. The amount of times I push a player wide and keep him under control only for him to shoot knowing it'll bounce to his player is annoying as feck.

I just pulled him in the same pack as Alonso and got Thiago in a gold upgrade after that. Think I'm going to try a Bundesliga team.

I decided to give it another chance after the absolute madness last time I played since I've never tried the weekend league before. I won the first two very easily, but it wasnt hard to notice something happening at the end of the 2nd game. A kick off from the opponent ended up with me tackling my own player at the half way line, causing the ball to bounce back to the corner flag in my own half. My players jog (just subbed on) while I try to sprint, and just barely gets the ball. I try a simple, 5 yard pass to an umarked player when the game hits a driven pass in the opposite direction of where I'm aiming / the player is facing, hitting the ball against my own keeper who miskicks it, hitting my own player in the back, directing the ball back at the keeper who somehow saved but just pushes the ball into the feet of his striker who taps in the goal.

After that I've played 7 games. Lost all 7, not scoring a single goal. Not even open goals.

I actually had my pulse at 84% of my max at the end of the 5th game, but I just had to see just how ridiculous it can get. The tide shifted at the end of my last game where suddenly the other player missed every tackle, mistiming interceptions, somehow giving my players all the space in the world but I was simply too down and out to get anything out of it. It seems like something has happened in lately, because it's been absolutely fecking ridiculous for a few days now.

Played 20 games so far and won 14. But didn't enjoy it at all. Even games I won. Mentally you have to be so switched on because every single player is so sweaty. 90% use cheap ass BPL squads. Kante is better the Vieria who cost millions and Martial plays better then Messi. Players are so broken in this game. Guess it makes it competitive for the average Joe.

Guys who play this game can you stop this defensive park the bus from kick off? Fair enough do it to protect a lead but why be a pussy from kick off? Have some balls
