Gaming FIFA 17

I think it's inevitable that at some point EA are going to have a court case on their hands. There is clearly intentional mechanics in the game designed to either level or imbalance the playing field. That would be fine but for the fact it's pay to play and many people have invested money in the game for an advantage that seemingly might not exist.

I hope so. I've spent over a grand on Ultimate team and the best player I've ever got is a standard Yaya. Bastards.

What does everyone think about the 'momentum' and 'adaptive difficulty' code found within FIFA 17 that is doing the rounds on reddit ATM?

Personally, I've definitely felt something afoul in this game compared to others. I've played Counter-Strike professionally, been a Div 1 regular in FIFA/PES seasons since online was introduced and in recent years (since FIFA 15, or so) I can 100% tell the game engine attempts to balance games.

Kind of pathetic really - I've played about 100 games of PES and 400+ games of FUT (all online) this year and whilst the FIFA matches have me smashing controllers (65+ possession, 4 times more shots on target from clear opportunities) the PES games I never feel any wrongdoing by external factors.

How Kevin / Eddy_JukeZ have maintained such a high W/L is beyond me.

Also, AI defending should not be present in a pay2win, competitive game.

Care to link the topic?

Nothing new really as scripting is as old and as bad as it gets, hence I didn't bother buying this shit this year. Last year was just too much for me.

Finally won all 40 in the weekend league.

Was dead tired at the end.

This mode is torture.

Great achievement is that, I can only dream of finishing that high.

I managed gold 1 this weekend, was 1 win from elite 3 which sucked but hey ho.

I've got a new team ready for next WL, I'm undefeated in Div 2 with it so far so I'm hoping I can get 30 wins this weekend.

What's your team mate and Do you use custom tactics?

Longtime player too, of FIFA and PES before that (switched in 2009). Felt something odd starting last year, felt it stronger than ever this year. At times it seems like the game simply will not allow you to score, going as far as missing extremely easy chances like tap-ins (an outsized amount of these misses hitting the post), whereas in other specific moments you can grab a goal any way you like. The number of tying goals I've scored minutes after conceding is no accident (and I don't turn up the team attacking posture or anything from going behind at any point in the 1st half).

I'm no JukeZ, by a mile, but have kept a respectable 65% win percentage (and same number of draws as losses, which I'm particularly proud of) over the last few game editions. I had migrated to FUT just in 16, started out 17 there but just had to quit it. When you feel that the stakes are high (rewards, etc), vs a good opponent, feeling like the game isn't giving you a fair shot is just infuriating.

For my 1v1 I just went back to H2H seasons because there's less tension, and have been more invested in 11v11 Pro Clubs competitions. You still get a degree of suspicious bias at times, but less so. And all humans helps with you not feeling that someone is leaning on AI defending.

I really hope 18's gameplay comes in feeling more natural, otherwise some other game might take FIFA's place as what I play most.

EDIT: Also, even apart from that. The amount of accurate auto blocks on shots by defenders, please tune it back. I wonder if there will ever be a game where players will react to the attacker posturing to shoot (as in real life, so start of animation in game) instead of the shot per se, and then move at ninja speed.

I am not really surprised, because I've always believed in momentum personally. I doubt EA respond and if they do, they'll just deny it with some excuse how it only pertains to offline play or something.

I rotate 2 teams. I'd link image, but it comes out way too big.

Messi-Neymar
Suarez
Douglas Costa-Modric
Vidal
Alaba-Sokratis-Boateng-Danilo
Neuer

Bale-Ronaldo
Griezmann
De Bruyne-Pogba
Kante
Rose-Smalling-Otamendi-Walker
Courtois

Was intending on picking this up over the next few days but you lot are really putting me off.

Or maybe I should just avoid FUT?

To be honest, not much has changed outside of FUT regarding content.

It's an absolute joke.

I am absolutely certain there's momentum in this game.

I've been playing competitive eSports for the best part of 15 years now across 3 different games and have owned every FIFA/PES since 1994 so I like to think I understand game mechanics in general and if they deny it or admit it but leave it as a 'feature' I will never buy another EA product again. I've spent AT LEAST £1,000 on FIFA over the past few years and despite my best ever player being Toure Yaya (86 CDM on Fifa 14) it's the confirmation of scripting which will likely send me over the edge!

I much prefer PES this year but their online matchmaking is atrocious and I don't play offline games... so I'm kinda stuck. Here's hoping "This is Football" or "SEGA Soccer" make a return.

On FUT, EA were proper grinchs this year. I remember last year they gave everyone two free mega packs on Christmas day.

This year? An SBC that gave you an ugly kit and a mystery pack or 3000 coins.

Yeah and seeing as I'll only use United players on FUT (Top Red UK) I did the Rashford SBC, what a waste.

Cheers, those are some nice teams no wonder you do well

Might try that 2nd team. Do you use player instructions too I presume kante is set to stay back, strikers get in behind etc

Yes I do.

Strikers: press back, get in behind
CAM: stay forward
CDM: stay back
LB/RB: stay back

Ok thanks for help, hopefully that'll get me into the elite somewhere then. I've read EA forums for ages (never posted) and I seem to remember you are actually a VERY good player so I'll never match your standards but it's worth a try.

There's been momentum in the game for years. I got lucky in an early Ultimate Team in around 2012ish by getting Ronaldo in a pack so I sold him for something crazy (over a million coins) and built basically the world XI bar Messi and Ronaldo. The team had 100 chemistry but was absolutely awful to play with. Felt like I was at a disadvantage every game despite having the best team almost every time and lost plenty of games to teams with shit chemistry as well to boot. I'm sure in some cases some of the guys I played would have been better but I'm certain I was being given a handicap. Was all over the EA forums as well at the time as plenty of others were experiencing the same thing. Gave up Ultimate Team after that year and stuck to normal Seasons which seems less scripted if still dodgy at times.

What are yer views on Lukaku and Kane on Fut, Kane has scored bucket loads for me, I thought Lukaku would be on upgrade because of his pace, but something about him doesn't suit my team.

Can't use either of them myself. Currently got Sturridge and Costa/Vardy up top. Lukaku I used for a while and found he was poor but lots of people love him. Kane has been crap for a while and suffers from the same thing as Muller in not excelling at any one thing and just being a good all rounder which never shows up well on fifa.

Just came up against something dodgy, his team had only 60% chemistry and his best player was Mattieu who he was playing at right back. He had Micah Richards, shawcross, cattermole, Townsend and some championship players. Yet my 100 chem and 83 rated team couldn't get anywhere near them, they were stronger, faster and every shot they had went in , lost 6 v 1

It's all in your head. There's nothing dodgy in the game...

Stop being so paranoid.

Hahaha they're actually really funny what the feck happened to butlands arm on that pen  but there's no such thing as scripting or momentum of course

That first one is so fecking blatant. I knew the "rebound falls perfectly to the other striker" thing wasn't just in my head, but to see the game's code almost fighting with itself to get the ball to go in that direction is something else.

I have no idea why they want the game to do this so often either. It doesn't make it more realistic and it certainly isn't more entertaining when there's rebound goals in seemingly every other match.

This explains so much, I was wondering why I give away so many rebound goals, has anyone else noticed that just before half time that goals seem to just happen defences that were steadfast fall apart.

I somehow managed to score a 20 yard own goal into the top corner earlier while doing a standing tackle

The professor is good at FIFA too?

Makes sense.

What team you got?
Will make a pic when home if I can be arsed when I get home after the holidays. going to miss weekend league... I am quite good yes, maybe I should grace Twitch with my presence? How many viewers would I steal from you and the other bigwigs by playing WL on a high level whilst talking about my tactical views on football and deliver post match insights on Manchester United?

Excuse me for the late response, got banned for too many dislikes (you can like/dislike posts???) for a post I made in the Mkhitaryan thread about whether we should name and shame the haters of a month ago or enjoy our Christmas. Take a wild guess what group of posters would dislike such a post? Flawed system.
Feel like I got FA'd on the caf. I feel like Mourinho posting among a bunch of Wengers with the mods representing the FA board members!

Had 40k to soend so got Diego Costa on my almost all United team. Have one team with mixed leagues and the other that was supposed to be all United, but United only has Ibra as a good striker, and De Gea is too expensive for a keeper so yeah.
Currently at:
Martial Costa Mkhitaryan
Rooney Herrera Mata
Shaw Bailly Smalling Valencia
Cech

Then every game I rotate with this team (definitely the stronger one): GS=group stage

GS Dzeko Perisic
Dybala
Pjanic Medel Modric
Sandro Bonucci Varane Juanfran
Buffon

Next players I aim to get are probably Kante for Mata in midfield and move away from pure United as Mata just gets run over in the weekend league, even though I love him. Then Nainggolan or Marchisio for Medel probably. Dont usually go for the OP players and usually just go for those I like, but for some you need it. Think the two teams together cost about 600k, nothing compared to Eddy's of course but not bad either!

On a side note, the daily rewards over futmas have been great for me, got 5k for todays and total must have gotten over 10k as I'm getting coin rewards every time. None of those shitty bronze gift packs

Yes I do.

Just a quick question, I got the SBC Insigne and I want to play him as a CAM. If I switch formation at the start of the game does it clear any instructions or tactics?

Just saw its the sbc for the totw players..... i want to try one but I really dont feel like throwing away players for a shit IF. But the lure of pogba/hazard and whoever else seems big. Tough choice

Don't do it. I was bored so exchanged a few dreaming of a 92 Ibra and got a 81 Shalke player.

It's all a total con.

Got tired of my Bundesliga team so looking to build a Prem squad. I have about 400k to spend and would like a mix of pace and physicality.

Does anyone have any tips or bargains I should be looking out for?

Martial (30k), kante(30k), smalling(18k), walker(20k i think) are musts. Walker and kante have IF versions that are 84 rated so you could get those, just much more expensive.

Personally like using bailly(15k) as well. Cech is IMO the second best keeper and only 25k compared to de gea at over 100k. Sanchez was great but 130k or so. De bruyne is only around 190k if you want to sounk a lot on one player. Diego Costa is good up top on hunter chem, got him for just under 40k. Love using Mkhitaryan on the right wing. His IF is around 230k I think. Left back is all okay at best. Azpilicueta, shaw, rose... doesnt matter too much. Dembele is a tank to use but you could get more expensive cards.

Love using Dembele, he plays the same as legend Gullit in this shit game. Well done EA

Just made a team on futbin, you can get this for 430k so if you are just under 400k, sub out someone...

Martial Diego Costa Mkhitaryan
Kante Dembele De Bruyne
Shaw Bailly Smalling Walker
Cech
De bruyne costs 190k, so you can get someone cheaper for a collectively stronger team, though idk who you would get from the front 6 since everyone better is IF costs or around 200k. Courtois in net is around 60k, if azpilicueta at left back is 86 rated and less then 100k and Koscielny I think is under 40k so thats an option to replace Bailly with.

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking of either Costa or Lukaku up front and was leaning towards the latter due to his better pace. Have you tried Lukaku in this game?

Sanchez looks a beast at that price. Surprised he is so cheap compared to players like Hazard.

Yeah I really liked sanchez, and in that option you can put Martial top with 7 chem and thats probably the best combo for the front 3. Only thing is it slightly lacks in height if you like using long balls and crosses a lot. Though sanchez and martial are decent in the air so its not as bad as some combos.

I had lukaku close to the start, wasnt a fan really. Loved him last year but didnt take to him this year. Plenty seem to like him though. Prefer Costa with a hunter chem style to make up for the pace.

If you want sanchez, push martial top, get him in and then you have 60 k to get a mid (coutinho/gundogan if you want, or someone like herrera who costs nothing and then upgrade bailly to Koscielny and cech to courtois).
