Gaming FIFA 17

Well FIFA has always been a sales behemoth, irregardless of quality, which explains why you don't know people playing PES.

I think most would agree PES was far superior a decade ago before FIFA improved around 09, before PES went downhill massively. But the consensus by reviewers is that PES made a giant leap last year and 2017 is even better. Based on feedback, I gave it a try and really enjoying it - more so than the new FIFA.

I actually played it once and throughout the mid 2000's, it was absolutely common to play it.
I don't really know when, but at some point it just died because there was no improvement at all.

Pro Evo went downhill rapidly when things moved from PS2 to PS3...Pro Evo 6 was arguably the pinnacle of football games...it was just a great game to play...

The first "Next gen" Pro Evo was utter tripe...I was literally forced to go to Fifa at that point...

The story is. But you can continue playing as him after the story is over. Just becomes a normal player career. I read this online.

That, I'm afraid, is utter shite...

It's not that much of a journey is it...especially if you spend your first season on loan at fecking Newcastle...so after that, I don't get to choose how I respond to that utter prick Danny Williams...or piss my manager off in a desperate search for twitter followers...?

It's more like a short walk to the shops rather than a journey...

The journey sounded good at first now I just want to finish it to get the ultimate team card.

Playing on legendary and it actually feels rewarding and challenging as opposed to cheap.

No longer do, or can, shit teams knock it about like Barcelona.

Last time I enjoyed playing against the AI in a footie was PES 2015

I was thinking Legendary on the Fifa 17 demo seems rather easy? Previous Fifa's I would struggle to win on Legendary mode but I have battered the computer several times already on that level and that's with only having just started playing the game.

Anyone else experienced this on the demo?

Yep Pro Evo was great on PS2, literally know one I new was playing Fifa at that stage. Now its the other way around.

In a way, I miss playing as Aragon at the Trad Brick Stadium against Lake District on Pro Evo 1 or 2 (I forget which)

PES had good reviews last year and my mate ended up buying it as well as fifa. We played it for about an hour before going back to fifa.

I can get past the licences and the other things, the game play felt too 'arcadey'. I prefer Fifa in that respect, then throw in the modes and online gaming and it was a no brainer for me.

It's a hipster football game these days. You're supposed to say PES is streets ahead gameplay wise and is a simulator.
In the same way that Shadow of Collosus is a hipster game in comparison to the commercial juggernaught that is Call of Duty and you're "supposed" to say the former is better :wenger:

Might have some truth in it, but also is a tad harsh. I've been a major critic of PES for about a decade now but PES 2017 is a very good game. For me it boils down to, does the buyer want to play offline or online. Offline its PES, online its Fifa. I haven't enjoyed a football game (outside of FM) since about 2009 due to both games being scripted trash but this year both games have made big leaps in the right direction.

I really hope this is the case. I've always found playing on Ledendary so frustrating as I find it relatively easy to keep them out but it's impossible get the ball off them so you basically end up chasing shadows all game. It was the same in World Class. Professional then was too easy.

It just always seems with PES, that it gets great reviews and is talked about being streets ahead of FIFA ect. and then nobody speaks about it ever again until the next one comes out. It really does seem like a hipster title these days. PES 16 for all it's great reviews was pretty average imo, and I'm not saying FIFA 16 was great either.

Yup that's how o felt and that's why I never bothered with career mode.

It's a decent but vastly overrated game. I've tricked myself into buy PES for three years in a row because of amazing reviews proclaiming that it's 'finally back', even though last year's FIFA was utter trash it did not mean that I went back to PES and liked it - I just skipped football games altogether for a year. 17 seems much better.

What a time to be alive. I've seen people bitching about how long it takes to download, but I just started my download like 5 minutes ago and have nearly got a gigabyte down.

Can't wait till I'm in my old age and people will complain about the net being slow and that they're only getting 5 terabytes a second, "it's fecking bullshit, man!"

Same. I loved PES, up until the next gen switch, which they completely fumbled. PES 08 was complete rubbish, whereas FIFA started feeling fresh again at that time, and since then I've had a hard time whenever I've tried getting back into PES.

FIFA is the far more popular game with a much bigger consumer base. I'm not sure why you expect to hear many people talking about PES unless you speak to the people who rated it highly in the first place? I thought PES 2016 was a quality game and still do. I think PES 2017 is probably the best football game I've ever played and I don't expect that view to change. On the other hand PES 2011 (very random choice) was not as good as FIFA 2011 and in that phase I tended to buy FIFA instead of PES.

Fifa 11-13 were great!

It's only going to be 75 rated and the stats aren't anything special.

Oh right I saw a picture of him with an 86 rated card and 91 pace. I reckon they'll add DLC later on that will allow you to get that level then

In what ways, in regards to FIFA? I'm on fence of getting it.

Big leaps is a bit of an exaggeration, but the gameplay has certainly improved. Ultimate Team is better than ever and there are now so many passing and shooting options that you can do pretty much what a real life player can do on the pitch. Playing offline against the CPU is completely broken though, like every year with FIFA.

Pes is decent gameplay wise, but the player animations are so bad that I feel like I'm playing a 4 year old game. Not to mention the bias towards Barca this year, an outdated database and the online part of the game which can't really be compared to FIFA.

That's disappointing but I'll wait to see for myself. I'd hate to be messing around with the sliders like crazy again, what I'd give for a good game out of the box.

Still so easy to abuse ping pong passing. Games on seasons are hilariously boring when you play someone who passes it about first touch.

Fuming.

Played 2 games online, first as Monaco and won and second I drew as Palace. I was all over them, goal line clearances, fake saves from the keeper and Benteke being Benteke.

I play full manual, so anyone want a match PM me and I'll drop my psn name
