Gaming FIFA 16

I've become absolutely obsessed with the training drills in career mode. Adds a new dimension and a genuine reason to go for young players.

Martial and Memphis at 83 and Shaw at 81 after 3/4 of a season, with Embolo, Tielemans and Fabinho at 80. Fekir and Laporte are my only other signings so far and both play pretty well. I'm trying to avoid signing any superstars and build/train them myself instead, which is great fun. Memphis and the now improved Martial are absolutely fantastic.

Do you simulate or play them? I simulate and only got Martial up to 79. Still very nice to play and over the next season he will reach 81-82 I imagine.

Lost 1-0 at home to PSG in the CL and got knocked out in last 16 with 2-1 loss on aggregate. Very gutted as I completely dominated and got hit on the counter. I had a semi as my target from the board but as far as I can deliver top 4 I think they will let me continue.

Got promoted to the Prem in my 3rd season with Bradford, spaffed most of my budget on Embolo, feckin' cpu had him only developed to 79, still only 21, so shouldn't be an issue.

Tbh, he's my best player anyway.

Played it instead of Pro Evo tonight. First time I've really enjoyed it. Is there any shame in playing on professional though?

Just played this for the first time tonight?

Have they taken away the ability to stop dead with the ball. Used to be able to do this to slow things down in midfield. There was also another version of it where you'd turn to face the direction of goal whilst stopping.

Any idea?

Seems like it. Simply stopping and turning has become a bit harder I think, defenders fall for it less often.

Turns out there was a gameplay update yesterday which is why I seemed to enjoy it a lot more. Switched it back up to World Class today and still enjoying it.

I cant seem to link up more than 3 passes without someone intercepting.

My friend was a possession play maniac, literally had 70 - 80% every match could not link up more than 5 - 10 passes, either due to an unforced error, or my defenders making interceptions automatically.

I think the game got pretty ruined for players who play a passing game.
That's what was happening to me early on in the game but then I realised you had to face the player you're passing to. I recommend starting play from the centre - when your opponent presses with his midfielder, make a short pass to one of your players in the middle and you've more or less broken his midfield - and advancing to the wings from there. Which has worked for me. I still think EA have awarded too much aggression to AI players. Which makes it very difficult to play a pass into your centre-forward even if you're facing him because he refuses to move towards the ball and the centre-back your centre-forward is up against is always first to the ball.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a Depay-like player but on the right hand side? Thinking strength, pace and technique. Oh and leftfooted. In career mode and money isn't an issue, have about £85 million to spend.

Bale!

Is career mode good then?

Hulk.

Managed to finish 3rd in my first season, got Poland to the European Championship quartefinal and got knocked out by Belgium.

Then I went nuts and offloaded both Rooney (to Juventus) and Muller (back to Bayern), also Valencia (to Dortmund). Then used money to buy Stones for the first team and a whole load of youngsters that I intend to develop: Gerson (2 years plan at least), Embolo (bit part player this season), Tielemans (rotation player now), Ruben Neves (hopefully next year), Gerson Martins (hopefully rotation player this season) and now I want to buy a winger - probably Mane.

Started second season with 1-1 draw home against Newcastle but happy with performance. Title is the goal and I believe with some luck I can win it. Switched from default 4231 to 433.

I got Fekir - fast, decent strength with an awesome shot. Can play up front or behind the striker too. Only downside is his stamina isn't very good.

On Fellaini before - he is great defensive wise - attacking is a bit poor (I can't cross and he control control a ball).

Valencia is really good in this.

In career mode, will your players improve without training? I.e. just playing well in matches? I really can't be fcuked with all the training, what a waste of time.

Yeah, but they won't grow as fast as they would if you were to train them. You don't have to play through the training sessions, though. You could also simulate them to do the job.

Cheers. Where do you stand on doing the easy/hard drills? Is it better to get a D on a hard one than an A on an easy one?

I don't have FIFA 16 yet, so I can't answer that question. :wenger:

However, logically speaking, getting an A is always better than getting a D. Getting a D on a hard drill probably won't improve your players that much.

Thanks gents. It should be an option to divvie that role out to your assistant coach, takes ages to select 5 players and choose drills for each one, and you have to do it 38+ times a season! Obviously you don't have to, but if you want those sweet stat boosts..

Some here said earlier, and it's a godsend, open the training, and hit triangle, it'll reload the last schedule.

EDIT: Also, you train every week, so it'd be 52 times.

I just bought this bullshit game based on positive impressions from the demo, only to find it plays nothing like the demo in the full game. What the feck is this? It's terrible in comparison. I feel completely ripped off.

If you are new to the Fifa series this may come as a surprise however they have been doing this for years. I thought 15 was going to be the greatest football game ever until the full game was released and I realised it was no different to the one that came before it.

16 is much different from 15 though.

Yup, for once.

Been playing for a while now, and I still haven't found a reliable way to craft chances. It requires thoughtful passing, good timing, and a little bit of luck at times. Previously I could loft a through ball and create a number of chances without really having to think much.

My main annoyance is that the ball is a bit small and hard to see at times, and, as others have pointed out, the CPU does keep away FAAAR too well. The game might've been better if it were at a lower tempo, and played with 10 min halves or something, so you don't feel like you need to rush to have your fair share of the ball.

Just picked up this bad boy. Started my united CM. brought in Stones on deadline day, offloaded deadwood. Adjusted the sliders so seeing how that plays out. Currently training Martial, Perreira, Wilson, Shaw and depay/ Stones. Hoping I can get them up to decent levels this season.

It's very similar to the demo.

Pereira is developing very slowly for me, to the extent where I feel I may need to give up on him - especially as I've brought a lot of young talent in the last window and would like to dedicate them time too. For now I'm building my team around Martial (already 81), Depay (84), Mata and Mane. In midfield I brought Rafinha and Tielemans who will eventually take over but this season will be more of a learning course for them.

Had the most absurd game yesterday in online, Atletico v Man City. Completely battered him and had so many great chances I could have easily scored 5-6 but only managed 1 goal while he scored with every single chance and beat me 4-1. I feel the speed of the game is too high in seasons, they need to tone it down by a few per cent.

Got Pereira to 70 then offloaded him to Bolton because he was bitching. Sold De Gea too since he wasn't happy with the weather  In came Bale and Muller.

Currently using my training on Martial, Shaw and three of the guys in my youth squad, one of which is a promising keeper I plan on blooding in eventually. He's 56 right now, but only 15.

I had Muller in my first season from January onwards then sold him and Rooney and brough shitloads of young players. I still don't know why I've brought Grealish, he's not going to play for me and I will offload him next Summer. Out of all new signings first team members are Stones and Mane, while Tielemans, Rafinha and Gelson Martins play second fiddle but will eventually move to the first team. Then I have Mahrez who I shuffle all around the pitch and Ruben Neves who I intend to develop in 2-3 years.

For now I'm moving to online anyway to play with a few other teams. I love Atletico, I like Southampton and Everton too.

Absolutely loving United so far on seasons.

Playing a 4-1-2-1-2 with martial and Depay up top with Mata just behind, sch-midfield with blind holding, Shaw, Rojo,Smalling,Darmian.

The pace and strength works up top nicely and Mata just behind dribbles and passes beautifully. Defensively very strong too which helps.

Rooney is good in the game. I sold him to Juventus for realism because I didn't want Rooney scoring actual goals, that was a tad too unrealistic for me, but he did well in his only season.

I sold him to Arsenal and he scored a free kick against me at the Emirates, the cnut. That's what I get for mixing up reality with a video game..

Juventus(or anyone) buying him is highly unrealistic, though.

Juventus buying him is realistic though. I don't think they are aware how bad he's been and they're always linked with old past-it players. He will probably regain form there and become world beater immediately, Pirlo style.
