Gaming FIFA 16

I have only played 2 online games so far. Once I waited for 15 minutes and got nothing.

Bloody hell EA, making so much money on Fifa, yet releasing buggy products.
 
There's nothing like losing two games on the trot in career mode and then bouncing back with a 2-0 win vs Liverpool at Old Trafford, who were challenging us for top four. Loving career mode this year, it's just far more rewarding gameplay wise, even when you lose.
 
It's really starting to frustrate me how all opposition teams are exactly the same. I never feel like I'm playing against a new side, whether it's Chelsea/Arsenal/Man City or a lower league side in the cup they play exactly the same way and they're just as good. There is genuinely no difference in shooting at Hugo Lloris to there is shooting at Crawley Town or Port Vale's goalkeepers, just like there is no difference in the ability of their strikers compared to the likes of Aguero or Sanchez.

The goalkeeping situation is by far the worst. I've lowered the goalkeeping ability of the CPU to 30 on the sliders and it still needs to go down. No matter how good the keeper actually is they catch everything. It's unrealistic and I shouldn't have to decrease the slider to 20 just to find most accurate representation of actual goalkeepers.

Come on, maybe if they were winning 1-0, but not 0-0.

I don't even think they'd do it in real life. They'd get lynched by their fans.

This is one the worst aspects of the game. It's a video game ffs, there's no need for that to happen. Also, you can't get the ball back without fouling. It's just ridiculous.

Anybody had the scripting bollocks set in yet? And the other usual EA BS. All of a sudden in seasons my players can't control the ball. Players all over the place. Also when you have Sterling under pressure and in need of your left back, Gibbs, to come support him, but instead he runs off the pitch (really),you just know it's typical EA BS.

Absolute nightmare when going teams less that 4.5. Also the matchmaking is shit. Mine is on restrictive quality and still get match with teams with a higher rating

So far, despite not such bright result, the one I've been most happy about are Napoli. Defensive solidity comes first, I'd rather play out a few 0-0s and 1-0s instead of 4-3s and 2-2s because this way I am more aware of what could happen in a game and I can control it. There's no control over 4-2 win, just pure gung ho approach from both sides that could result in anything (this is why I lost 4-1 to City while playing Atletico despite having lion's share of possessinon).

Great insight, I'd like to hear which teams you tried and how you thought they were.
How did you line up your attack with Tottenham? I didn't like Kane because he can't dribble, isn't quick or strong so I played Son as a false nine and Lamela+Lennon (lol) on the wings with Eriksen part of a 3 men midfield. The balance was quite good but Lennon and Lamela were quite average for me and Eriksen was too deep for my taste. Did you play 4231 with Kane as a striker?
Overall I'd say Barca, Real and Bayern the best teams, especially Bayerns squad is just unbelievable, you can basically play every formation in perfection with that choice you have. Man City is up there now as well I think, they're unbelievable balanced, I play 4231 with Sterling as the left winger, KDB behind Aguero and Silva on the right wing but moved to a left CAM. Toure and Fernandinho at CDM. I just rip teams apart with running my attacks over Toure, Silva and De Bruyne, their passing is brilliant and the latter is a huge goal threat as well with his long shots and 5* weak foot.
Dortmund are great as always, I liked PSG, I didn't really like Chelsea but I somehow never do on FIFA. Leverkusen is fun to play as well if someone is looking for a good 4,5 team and having a freekick with Calhanoglu is just :drool:

Well I would say the majority never have a problem. I personally get a game on average 10-15 seconds maybe at most? Never ever have I had to wait minutes. Do you have fussy settings like manual only and no int teams etc
 
Played some local multiplayer last night, and it's actually pretty poor. The guy I was playing with is pretty rubbish so I won every one of about 10 games. The football is generally quite scrappy though, even if you build up slowly as the game obviously wants you to, there will eventually, inevitably be a misplaced pass that ruins everything.

The refereeing is also a huge backward step from last year. Twice I deliberately missed penalties because the decisions were utterly incomprehensible. One of them, the defender had the ball at his feet, I ran up from behind to try and win the ball and somehow was given a penalty, even though I didn't even touch the ball! You're also just as likely to get a yellow card from standing still and being run into as you are for wiping a player out with a double-footed challenge.

Still really not keen on the shooting/keeping as well, I score a lot of goals from shots straight at the keeper that squeeze past him. Then, when I hit a peach of a shot heading for the top corner, the keeper pulls off a wonder save!

I know they try to make each game feel different, but this is like fifa 15 never existed and they've started from scratch again.
 
This game is piss poor. Midfielders make 4-5 interceptions each per game. First touch doesn't stick. It is perfectly sane to just kick for touch deep into the opponents half and capitalise on the AI giving your opponent a poor touch for no particular reason running through then scoring. At this rate PS4's FIFA 14 is still better to play than both this and '15. It is shocking.

Out of the box it's frustrating as feck, but if you read a few posts above, world class becomes very enjoyable with a few small slider tweaks.
 
I remember in the trailers for 16 you could slide for the ball but stand up half way mid way through so your defender wasn't taken totally out of the phase of play.
I can't manage it and struggling to find anything online.

No, default settings. 15 mins and no game!

Just press square again while sliding if you're going to miss the tackle or have missed it and it'll get up quicker.
 
So whats the general consensus on this years installment? Been undecided on whether to get it, im not that big on FIFA anyway, just like playing Pro Clubs and a bit of career mode mostly.

Well, my NAT type is 2 and I occasionally got the message of changing it when I searched for a game on FIFA 14 and 15. Now it takes up to 2 min for me to find opponents. If your NAT type is 3, it will be much more difficult.

It's NAT2 and yes I got that message some times on previous editions as well, but maximum I had to wait for a game was 1-2 mins. This is a known issue now even affecting those with open NAT.

For me; if you been fifa for the last few years then get this one but this is probably as good as it is going to get before PES takes over. Career mode is the best mode.
 
NAT type. There's a term I haven't heard in a long time, thank the Gods.
 
anybody playing this on PC or are all of you more or less on PS? I need to "add a friend" and share my 100 chemistry FUT team with him.
 
I cant seem to get closing down and pressuring right, even on proffesional. Im still winning most games but i swear i spend the majority of the game holding R1 (getting a player to close down) whilst i run around trying to close the opposition aswell, or cut off the passing option or in general just running trying to get the ball. The opposition just keeps finding the pass over and over. Its very tedious. I even tried sitting infront of the defence holding R1 to get others to do the running for me but they are just too thick to do it properly and usually ends in me conceding from a cross into the box.

How did you come to these settings? Yourself or from someone online? Just curious. Also, does this stop the CPU just passing the ball around and doing absolutely nothing with it in your experience? The default this year is awful. Passing it around pointlessly and most of the time not even venturing out of their own half.

CPU Pass Error and Marking were posted by one of the members here, the rest I have taken advice from other forums or adjusted myself. It doesn't affect the way you play aside from weaker goalkeeper and slower passing. CPU will not be able to knock the ball around as easily because their error rate will be higher (can boost to 55 even) and pace of passes will be slower hence it will be easier to intercept them.

You need to play at World Class or eveb Legendary if you still find it too easy.
 
I've noticed an increase in the amount of ping pong passing since the update, and it feels faster. It was so promising early on, but it kinda now just feels like 15 only with a shitty first touch

I play on world class, well hope to. As I say, the default has put me right off the game. Just need to find some good sliders and will try yours. How are the goalkeepers in your opinion with their reduced setting? I find this year they tend to be too good, whereas in 15 they were too bad. I've had Mignolet play against me as if I'm facing Neuer. This year even crap keepers are fantastic.
 
I don't know if it's the update but for some reason I'm enjoying this a lot less than the demo. It feels like there is much less time on the ball now and you have to rush every move. The pace feels wrong, even high tempo Premier League games aren't anywhere near as frantic as what I'm experiencing in the game. Maybe it's my mind playing tricks but it seemed much more realistic and enjoyable in the demo. Perhaps it's fixable with the right tweaks for offline but that won't help online games.

And keepers are definitely a problem. They routinely pull off several reflex saves each match that would have De Gea staring in disbelief.

@Sarni said he played both the updated and un-updated versions - and they were the same, so I'm not sure if it is the update at all! I've read online a bit and it seems split in the middle - some think it's the same, but some thing its definitely quicker! I agree with you, the update has made me rush a lot more.

I've played more and it's the same, trust me. I don't even notice updated goalkeepers, they are still too good. I don't think the pace of the game changed at all.

The reason why people feel different than the demo and initial impression is that your impression was based on it being a new game, hence much harder to score, different mechanics, a lot of inaccuracies and errors being made by all players. Right now people have got used to it and don't make as many mistakes, speed of the game is higher because there's fluidity to the gameplay.

I had one 0-0 draw in Arsenal v Liverpool early on and it was such a scrappy ball where neither of us could pass the ball accurately at all. Currently games seem more fluid because I have figured out how to pass the ball and a lot of other players seem to have done the same.

It's still a bit too fast but generally a lot slower than 15.

Online playing vs City 2-1 up 85´minute. Playing him to shreds, hit the post his defender took a ground passing through ball from his own box straight through the whole midfield and the CB´s to Aguero 1 v 1 and made it 2-2.. Started again went through hit the post again his RB kick it upfield to Aguero on the right side 40m from the goal hugging the sideline.. Hit a wonder shot and drove it up into the left top corner for 3-2.. Kick off, game over. It´s so crazy that still at FIFA16 we still have this shit!!
 
It used to be easy a few versions ago to choose a 1 or 2 star level team online and get to play people using 5 star level teams. I couldnt do it with Fifa 15. Is it possible with Fifa 16?
