Haha every summer this has to be pointed out. They aren't a source
It’s this kind of reasoning that saw us let Evans and Smalling go for peanuts and replace them with a carousel of hipster approved clowns at CB, who were worse than the players they were replacing.
Big might though considering no one wants to spend big on Osiheim it looks like and we shouldnt be accepting a loan offer.
Might be a little.late at this stage I fear. Also if spending on a left back not sure how much money that leaves for midfield considering we havent managed to sell any of the usual choices.
We should sell Shaw. I think there would be interested clubs such as Newcastle perhaps? He's a good player, but not great, and he's simply too injury prone to be considered part of a starting XI.
Smalling was directly replaced by Harry Maguire, who is a lot of things, but... hipster CB?It’s this kind of reasoning that saw us let Evans and Smalling go for peanuts and replace them with a carousel of hipster approved clowns at CB, who were worse than the players they were replacing.
There isn't a single left-back better than Shaw.
Fair point but guy just can't stay fit unfortunately
The source they reference is Sporx, whatever that is.
What a mare.Sports Witness is a terrible source, so this highly likely to be nonsense.
Next in line transfer fees paid by Adidas, recouping via shirt sales and NYSE openingCrazy to see the Sports Witness confusion in 2024.
What? So Shaw is now the best lb in world football? There isn't a single left-back better than Shaw.
Who's better than an in form Shaw? What? So Shaw is now the best lb in world football?
Thats mental
I mean arguably he is, when fit. What? So Shaw is now the best lb in world football?

A fit and in form Shaw? It’s not mental. The level he showed for United and England the seasons before last season, he has an argument with any other current LB.What? So Shaw is now the best lb in world football?

This is a wild statement. How so you even come to that conclusion?I mean arguably he is, when fit.
It's a shame he had that leg break, lord knows how good he'd be now.
He was rapid when before the leg break, like unbelievably rapid.
What are you on about? I am not sh'ting on him. He's a good player, but he's simply not one of the best LBs in Europe as he cannot stay fit. Even when fit, he's only had one season where he has been at that level. Thus, he's a good player. After an injury, which happens far too frequently, he often takes a while to get going, where he is far from one of the best lbs around. He has one of the best first touches in the team and he's a good enough passer, but overall he lacks too much to be one of the best. The best fullbacks are quicker than him, a greater engine and contributes more both in attack and defensively one on one and positionally.
So not downplaying his quality, but the quantity of that quality is the real issue. If he was fit, he would be a very solid, if not world class, fullback. If he could stay fit for his career, he would arguably be one of the best around, but because of his injuries, he never plays consecutively long enough to build that consistency to be considered in that class. Potentially, most likely, in reality not, and you cannot build a team around players that you cannot rely on.
Looking at that group of options, though, you have to ask where the width in attack is coming from down that side. Our attacking options, and the team in general, would benefit more from an aggressive overlapping player at left back rather than someone who tucks infield into either the backline or in midfield.Would be an exciting signing, but not sure there's room for a 20-30 million full-back in the squad anymore, after signing Mazraoui. I get it that there are concerns around everyone in the squad who's capable of playing left-back, maybe apart from Dalot, but this isn't how you build a squad IMO. If we want another player there it should be a free or very cheap acquisition like Reguilón.
Shaw is injured, sure. It's not the only injury he'll sustain this season, sure. But he will play when healthy. Martínez can play LB. Dalot can play LB. Mazraoui can play LB. Malacia should come back in a few weeks/months' time. And then you need to keep Amass in mind, you definitely don't want to block his pathway to being first choice.
Shaw/Malacia/Martínez/Dalot/Mazraoui/Amass is enough. If we want to add one more, it has to be someone who makes sense from a financial point of view.
But that is the point he literally never is fit. Never.A fit and in form Shaw? It’s not mental. The level he showed for United and England the seasons before last season, he has an argument with any other current LB.
He literally was fit for 218 games for club and country from 2018 to 2023. PL team of the year and MUFC player of the year 2018-19, MUFC player of the year 2020-21 and England’s generally accepted best player of Euro 2020, and was brilliant for Ten Hag in 2022-23, playing plus 50 games that season for club and country. That’s one season back. But that is the point he literally never is fit. Never.
That are some phantasy scenarios what could be if. Even the manager says he will never be able to play a full season.
Sports Witness has never been a source. The source that they have quoted is terrible though.Sports Witness is a terrible source, so this highly likely to be nonsense.
It's a versatile utensil, you can eat your pasta lunch with it, then devour your custard pot without having to use a second utensil. The source they reference is Sporx, whatever that is.
Whatever moniker you want to give them. They aren't a source
I’m saying anything that comes out of them tends to be terrible.Sports Witness has never been a source. The source that they have quoted is terrible though.
Ready for another 60 minute appearance followed by another 2 months injured, so we do. Especially once Mazraoui gets injured.I can see one of Shaw or Malacia being ready post October international week, so we don't need another LB.
The death of the word ‘literally’ in the English language is a travestyHe literally was fit for 218 games for club and country from 2018 to 2023. PL team of the year and MUFC player of the year 2018-19, MUFC player of the year 2020-21 and England’s generally accepted best player of Euro 2020, and was brilliant for Ten Hag in 2022-23, playing plus 50 games that season for club and country. That’s one season back.
So no, he is not ‘never’ fit, neither literally nor figuratively nor metaphorically. He has literally been unfit for most of the last year. And when he is fit, he is very, very good.
Mazraoui was bought to replace AWB. We’ve only got 3 fit FB’s including Amass. A specialist LB would be useful if we can afford one.We signed Mazraoui so this isn't happening.
Obviously Martinez, Dalot and Mazraoui will handle the LB spot in the coming weeks/months, but I can see one of Shaw or Malacia being ready post October international week, so we don't need another LB.
Shaw seems to be enjoying the Fabio Da Silva status. The young Brazilian was taunted to best of the twins but he kept getting injured. In the absence of actual game time, the fans kept hyping him to the extent that one expected that a mix of Paolo Maldini, Javier ZanettI, Duncan Edwards and Roberto Carlos would finally walk out on the pitch and score a poker in every game.
Shaw had of course played more games then Fabio Da Silva and he was decent in some of them including a EURO final against Italy which Southgate lost. However let's be realistic here. Shaw had his ups and downs as a United player and there was a time when he was an inch away from actually being sold. He also had attitude issues were he would come late to training or struggle to keep to an ideal weight.
So yes, Shaw is a decent player, but WC or being the best in the world? Give me a break.
