Fellaini

90% of those videos is him winning headers and long balls, not exactly the best argument. I said he's good around the box but what will he bring us playing deeper? Cover for Carrick I guess, albeit worse. Also he's maybe better than Anderson, that's also something.
Not convinced at all.

Probably been mentioned here already, but here's his stats from 2011-12 when he was playing in a deeper role:

I think he had some of the best defensive stats in the Prem that season, it was only since moving in to a more attacking role last season that his game got dirtier.

That's not bad for someone who can't pass a ball either :smirk:

*I wasn't intending those images to be used for the comparison anyway, but ignore the 2012-13 stats, that was only up to Dec 2012.

Those Videos remind you how good a player he is , i think some may have forgotten that while getting caught up in Thiago and Fabregas.

If we sell him, please sell him soon. I don't want another Arteta moment.

How well do you think Fellaini would do in a united shirt? And where do you think we would be able to get the best out of him and united?

He is literally one of the best players I have seen at bringing a high ball down and doing something with it.

That hair must give him a good touch at chesting it.

£23M guys, £23 fecking M.

Bale is potentially going for 100 million. Suarez for 50. Real Madrid have bought a young midfielder from Sociedad for 35 million, which is more than we've ever paid for a player.

Fellaini for 23 million isn't awful

Considering Everton bought him for £15m, and he's an infinitely better player now then he was when he arrived, I don't imagine they'd be looking for anything less then an £8million mark-up to be honest.

Also taking into account the size of fee's these days, £23m isn't too bad I don't think.

I see this as a double signing. 40M for Felliani and Baines. Although I don't think that Felliani is the answer to win the Champions League he is a proven PL performer and will help us overcome the YaYa Toure effect when we play Shitty. Baines is an upgrade on Evra and a dead ball specialist.

If we were able to sign these two and Fabregas I would gladly sell Rooney to Chelsea for 35-40M.

i like fellaini, not the silkiest (though his chest control is top notch) but we've got plenty of silk already imo
A good strong presence in the middle would be most welcome, the likes of yaya wont be barging their way through him so easily
he's got goals in him too which is always a bonus, now just slot fabregas in beside him and were laughing

Agreed, £23m is almost bog standard for the top tier of European clubs nowadays.

I'll be genuinely happy if we get him. I don't understand why the Caf seemed to get so negative about him over the last few months. I am sure it wasn't like that before. Were people always more dreading than hoping that we would sign Fellaini? I think a lot of people underestimate what he would bring to the team. He'd be our second best midfielder right away, and let's not forget that Carrick wasn't as good as he is now when he first arrived. A 25 year old midfielder has a lot of scope for growth in Manchester United. Particularly since he'll get to play a lot, for obvious reasons.

If we had signed him before all this Thiago and Fabregas talk I'm sure most would have been happy.

You think it's bad now, wait till he rejects us ala Thiago and Cesc.....It will cause the apocalypse on here

At some point, people will actually realise we didn't make as big as a move for Thiago that the press lead everyone to believe. :annoyed:

Everyone complaining about this signing (if it happens) will be eating their words by Christmas. How people can't understand the logic in signing him is incredible.

Whilst I do believe some are underestimating him, some defending him are overestimating him. He is essentially a fall back option, after all.

I was at the International Champions Cup matches last night, and it makes me think that he has one foot out the door. He was non-existent most of the game, and hardly seemed to be trying to get involved, especially in the second half. Like he didn't want to be out there. I know it's a friendly, but if everyone played friendlies like that, there wouldn't be a match, just 22 guys standing around. I'm not saying that this makes him a shit player, just that it seemed like something was going on where he had no desire to play. If he's not on his way out the door, then Martinez should be pissed at the effort he showed.
