Fellaini

So it appears that we have agreed a total price of £24m for wiggy, so that meant we valued Baines at £4m...

Yep. Though I hope Cleverley doesn't fall too much out of favour. I really like him.

I'm sure he'll get plenty of time still, competition is always good. Fellaini isn't a player I'm particularly keen on us signing but much rather him than no one. Him being around will help someone like Powell get game time as well as we can rest Carrick without completely losing all the defensive qualities in the middle.

Good news if true. The price is at the range I was always believing it will be.

Can one of the caf hero's enlighten me as to why so many people are against him coming? I hear the line 'he is not a United player' fairly regular. Somebody, please educate me.

If he joins United he is then one of the best in the world until then he is shiite..

I think there's always reservations whenever United buy someone from a Premier League rival.

Would be a decent signing if we can bag a creative midfielder. Otherwise - not what we need.

We should have spent £20M rising to £24M from the start. I don't like that Moyes reputation at Everton has been a bit ruined because of this now.

Nothing to do with Moyes. He tells the board who he wants and leaves it to them.

Everton are being far to "outraged" by the whole thing. They've done the same to Wigan. It's just what happens.

The only remaining step now is conducting the medical in a highly confidential place at an undeclared time...

Hmm not sure, think we could use a defensively good player, even if he's not a top player in this regard as it provides cover for Carrick and makes us more solid. A creative player would help give a better first choice midfield but we'd still be in a bad position if we lost Carrick. If he comes we have some cover there and I think we're more than capable of winning the title with Carrick and clev/fellaini etc, but without Carrick and no one to cover him I think we'd be in a bad way.

feck sake. Kagawa all over again. We're just using him to help us gain fans in Belgium and places where afros are popular.
Just you wait, next week we'll have signed a deal with Jamaican Air Lines to sell afro wigs on flights.

Couldnt be that he's a half decent player, right?

The whole going public thing really confused me. Really there seemed to be no reason to do it other than to try and publicly embarrass us; nothing stopped them quietly rejecting our "derisory" bid, especially given that despite reported interest from Arsenal at the start of the window nobody else was in for either Baines or Fellaini at the price Everton would sell at.

Indeed. I think they needed to sell Baines or Fellaini for Martinez to spend and they knew he'd be away sooner or later - I suspect they thought that someone would pay Fellaini's clause up this summer.

The irony is Everton will probably be straight in for McCarthy at Wigan.

On a sidenote, as silly/childish as it seems - please don't give him the #7

If true, i think the fans needed that.....to sign someone preferably a midfielder just so we can look forward to something different.

I can't speak for others but I've been against it for about two or so years now. For me he's not great at anything. He's not a great passer. His finishing isn't great. For a tall guy he tends to actually commit more fouls in the air as well as take people's heads off on a regular basis with elbow smashes. He's good at taking the ball down and holding it up.

I'm not going to say he's shit, he's a goodish player. But my question has always been is that really what we need? The likes of Cleverley and even Anderson (even if he's not always fit) are good players. What we've been crying out for is that extra level or a completely different set midfielder to what Fellaini actually is.

Either way I'll get behind the guy if we sign him and give him every chance. I've never been a fan and never actually liked the guy himself because I think he's one of the dirtiest players in the league. Either way I trust Moyes and if we sign him, I'd love him to make me look like a right twat by saying all of this.

I think he is a decent player to have in the squad but not good enough to be a regular starter. We already have better than him, but it'll be good to have a bit more depth.

Has anyone even taken into consideration whether our shirt fits over his head? Can't help but think we've not made our collars with enough buttons...

Perhaps he can get Rio to help him cornrow his 'fro to get his head through and then rig up some quick-release pulley system to restore the full beauty of his ridiculously OTT hairdo.

It's come from a report in the Metro. Hardly concrete. Although it's just a matter of time we all know that.

£20m is ok, he will strengthen the squad and offer us something different. He's not the answer to partner Carrick though.

Would be more than happy with this. A combination of Carrick, Cleverley & Fellaini is more than good enough, and you can add in Giggs, Anderson, Powell (when fit), Jones (feck sake)... Hoping we get Baines as well, be two very good additions.

Reckon we'll be in for Baines next summer, with Evra getting a bumper payday at Monaco when they're in the CL.
