FC Bayern 17/18 discussion

Question to Robben from Sportbild if all of you are still behind the coach?

Robben: That question I do not want to answer...

....tells everything...

Hell that's such a strange answer to give to such a question.

Are the players already turned on Carlo ? I won't blame them tbh.

That's quite obvious, to be honest. They didn't buy in to Carlo's approach from the very beginning, if you ask me.

Yes, had a fantastic seat in the stadium. Changed my perception a bit about him, he is phenomenal, better than i thought. He is untouchable on the field, his positioning is unreal and so pressure resistant. Same for Modric, only that he is better with dribbling through the midfield and a bit more livelier on the ball. Also Kroos corners were fantastic, great bend and technique. They compliment each other perfectly, reminds me a bit of Scholes and Keane for us.
Last season, someone reported a similar experience seeing Pogba live for the first time.

I'm not a stadium-goer, but the times I went I was amazed how different the athleticism, speed, ball control, movement looks in real life. And those players were nowhere near the level of Kroos/Modric.

Oddly the player I felt like this about was Thiago Motta. Seen him live for PSG a couple of times and he was just incredible every time, yet my friends watching on tv didn't even notice him.

Someone should make a thread about this.

And my revelation was Bruno Labbadia :D

It's very easy. We don't need to talk about rebuilding or any of that stuff. The squad is fine. Another.. err.. striker, and a better backup GK maybe.

We need to fire Carlo and get in Tuchel. Problem solved.
Recipe for disaster.

You'd have thought that Carlo would've made them less vulnerable to counters than they were under Pep as he's Italian and they are by nature pragmatic, however it seems they are worse in that aspect. It's quite shocking imo.

btw why do bayern have slow defenders when they play such a high line? it seems like suicidal football.

Wouldn't mind seeing that Nagelsmann guy at Bayern, if only for the entertainment.
It'd be a complete fiasco.

He did, by all accounts. Blame Rummenigge for that one.
My impression was that Guardiola insisted on Thiago, who was brought on at hefty wages, after which Kroos for a raise and he was shown the door.
No Thiago and probably T Kroos is still at Bayern.

You will - starting next season.
And it will be a success.

Also, Kroos demanded higher wages because he knew how much Götze got, not Thiago.
That Götze transfer really turned out incredibly bad for Bayern, despite actually being dirt cheap for a player like Götze at the time it was made.

It's all well and good beating FC Kaisersausage every weekend but Bayern seem to always do poorly when playing good opposition in Europe.

This is the thing when you play in such a league dominated by one side, your team isn't getting tested enough on a regular basis.

Well no, not really.

Bayern have been amongst the European elite for 20 odd years.

They desperately need young wingers.

Lemar was for sale this window, so was Keita Balde. In previous windows Bayern could have got KdB and Sane (both are now at City). They have messed up so many opportunities.

Now it's the 2017/18 season and they are still relying on Robben and Ribery for creativity and width, two players who should have been replaced by 2015.

Douglas Costa looked like a stud in his first season under Pep, but regressed massively under Ancelotti (just like Muller and Alaba).

I highly doubt Thiago was among the highest paid players at the time. Kroos would not be at Bayern if Thiago hadn't arrived, I am almost certain.

I don't know why people try to look for holes in the story when there aren't any signs of it. It's not some mystery, all sources agree on what happened - Pep wanted Kroos to stay but it wasn't up to him. The board didn't appreciate the player as much as the coach did and let him go.

Has to be said that Kroos was never among the biggest fan favorites and never became "part of the club" the way Müller did, for example. He was going to leave eventually, no matter what.

From having one of the best positinal attacks in football history to this disorganised mess. I can't say I'm too displeased to see it.

I am sure Bayern tries to get Nagelsmann or Tuchel. But maybe both don't want to start the job during the season.

They have only lost to Hoffenheim, drew Wolfsburg and lost to PSG's 400 million front three. They are badly overreacting here.

Thiago Motta at best is a mesmerizing player, he's so intelligent and effortlessly cool on ball. I always have my eye on him when I watch PSG, even if most people probably don't even notice him.

As for Bayern, I think they look so likely to concede without Neuer in goal. As for Coman, I think he'll struggle to get big chances (like EURO 2016) for France NT in the future simply because their other talents (Dembele, Mbappe, Martial, Lemar) seem to be progressing much faster right now.

We‘ll get an interimscoach for the season. Someone like Sagnol. Afterwards, Nagelsmann will take over. There is no way our next real coach will not be Nagelsmann.

Think they wont go for Tuchel after he had some problems at Dortmund with some players and Watzke/Zorc. They will be vary of the risk and stay away. Nagelsmann at the end of the season sounds like the most probable solution.

There is no overreaction. With Carlo as our coach, we‘ve gotten worse in basically any aspect of the game. We‘re much worse defensively and we can‘t attack at all from open play. Except for maybe Thiago and Kimmich, every player is either stagnating or taking a step back.
Add to this that Carlo‘s whole staff is a complete disaster. The very moment his staff was appointed, it was a recipe for chaos. The whole fecking staff consists of his relatives. The fecking fitness coach was caught smoking on the training grounds during a session for fecks sake, reportedly being joined by Alaba.

As of right now, Carlo is doing a truly terrible job. Which is a shame. He‘s a great guy and a great coach. But this marriage was doomed to fail. There was no way this would ever have worked out. But that‘s what happens if you just get the biggest name out there and don‘t really care for anything else.

The management deserves the most blame. Neither Pep or Carlo ever got the squad or the players they needed in order to become truly succesful.

I couldn't help but laugh when I read the bolded bit.

That true, HTG? Wow.

Well one of them is about to get a promotion.

If we ignore a whole season of terrible football. The team only plays well, when ancelotti uses lineups, that former coaches used. Otherwise the team plays the worst football since we had Klinsmann as manager. Yet for some reason Carlo still comes back with his own "tactics". At the moment the team would be better off without manager, because it's not that hard to pick the best starting 11.

They're still relying on Ribery and Robben.
I don't know what they expect a new manager to achieve.

Well, we had a coach who wanted to change that. But we sold one of the two players he wanted build around and all he got in exchange was Alonso.
