Anto don't forget to make it clear in the title that Aldo is the assistant of Pol and Snow the assistant of Theon.

No teamsheets yet. I hear rumours Figueroa has started a revolt in the Theon camp demanding the quarter is chalked off as the Magyars evidently won that game. Problem is Krol has been picked after what would have been our turn, he's already upped sticks and joined me so Pol is missing a right back.
As of now, the Magyars are ready to start the game but there's no rival team in sight.

I was serious about the above rumours. I hear Team Theon/Snow has gone on strike demanding the beaten quarter-finalist goes through instead. Scirea and Baggio have already gone back home to visit Piola. The Brazilians have gone partying and Andrade is propping up the bar, completely wasted.
I have a problem here though in that everyone picked two before me, including Krol, who was destined to join me. Should I take Beckenbauer from Theon? He is the only one available, sober and rearing to go.

Late two rounds in a row? Surely that should incur some sort of penalty, say Beckenbauer takes over and Theon is sent to the stands, or he has to start Rattin who picks up where he left off in '66 and gets immediately sent off for calling Bobby Moore a "posh cnut".

I only needed Djalma, Krol and Cruyff to complete my side. I guess I will have to pick Cruyff and Krol next. That's it.
You don't have Neeskens anymore though and he refuses to go back after your 'can a loss be a win' theory. Cruyff still tries to wrap his head around how someone could underrate his team and its chances in a final like you did. The Dutch are back home and they're not coming back. Nothing you can do about it now. They certainly aren't interested in playing for someone who teaches a loosing mentality like you did. Shocked really, poor Johans.
Just for the sake of clarity, what's happening here?

Nonsense, they've been fully aware this was their comeback strategy all along. Agent Van Hanegem has kept them up to speed all week. My only issue now is whether they threw that game against Annah. Don't think so, they were playing out of their skins out there.

Theon isn't up for it, I won't put words in his mouth and am still trying to talk him around it but a half-cocked semi with a demotivated manager and team isn't likely to be much fun.
Given people have been flying to RedCafNation from all over the world, FIFA needs to put a show on and I have volunteered to play, seeing as I was the one knocked out by Theon.
The upgrades have taken place, I planned for Krol and Djalma all along and would have pulled it off. Krol is gone though and I can't expect Pol to relinquish him so I'll have to get him the hard way. In the meantime, I'm taking the only available sober Theon player under my wing as he will have none of this not playing the semi business. Beckenbauer is joining team Anto.

You would have been really surprised going into the game like that. As surprised as most of my players anyhow. Let's just assume both sides prepared properly and that Neeskens isn't wasted after playing the other semi.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. Would be a fun goalfest and very convenient to start it with your current lineup but obviously that makes no sense, I'm aware of that!

I think its very disrespectful to disregard the deadline repeatedly. For the next draft there should be some penalty for it.

So I'd much prefer giving Theon his time, alternatively Polaroid can pick a time he wants if he can't do it with the time-changes now. Then Theon has to accept those times.

We could, up to you as moderator obviously. I don't think games with stand-in managers are any good really, there's zero passion or real interest in sticking up for your side, why/how you put it together, etc. It's a load of bollocks, really.

I also suspect Art. 102 goes both ways with Pol and Theon.

Sounds so over the top? Snow is his assistant? Are both of them randomly not interested? Snow posted really enthusiastic not long ago at all about the draft.

Aldo helped with the tactical preparation despite his exams and now we have to go back to the drawing board instead of kicking off the match, frankly we have wasted our time preparing for a match our opponent pulled out of at the last minute.

I would never have picked Pele. Read the thread and catch yourself on - it didn't bother me at all. If anything I thought there was a lack of sportsmanship, but wasn't fussed about the player.

Both Theon and Snow were quite persistent on the positioning thing early in the draft, they really wanted Thuram as RCB and many (myself included) thought it wasn't right. They didn't get him, he ended up not ever playing RB and now they are facing a game against a non-WC RB.
I think they are, quite rightly, sparing us and themselves the epic meltdown. There's no talking him out of that mindset, I've tried and by now agree it's not worth coercing him because it would just be flying shit all over the shop.
